Vaporbrothers Dabbler & Eleven Pen

Sounds like the issue I had, sorry to hear that. If it helps, I don't recall of anyone else reporting similar issues so welcome to our exlcusive club.

You should contact VW asap letting them know in detail what is going on. They will most likely send you a replacement battery and a pre-paid shipping label to send the defective battery back. They're cool like that.

:peace:
Happened to me as well. They should replace if it's within 90 days. Pretty quick replacement in my experience. The battery I have now works like a charm.
Hello, welcome! By the numbers, Dabbler has a really great reliability but that still leaves the possibility that some do weird stuff, so sorry that happened to you. The battery getting stuck on is an item that Vape-Pen was just telling me about- hopefully solved permanently by boosting the size of a component in the circuit. There are a ton of things that can go wrong in a micro circuit, but if a problem seems to be recurring, the designer gives it special attention.

Funky taste- now that is our specialty- so I really want to know if that happened (again). The wick is the most stable piece of glass you can imagine, so not a chance it could break down with the heat of the coil. In my experience, the material you put in is the biggest cause of funky tastes, especially because vaporizing at the low temperature of Dabbler keeps the flavor molecules intact. But anyway, if there is any chance the Dabbler produced a taste, or even just seemed to- we'd like to know more.

Thank you.

Thanks for replying and informing me of the issue everyone. I was able to get in contact with a representative from VW named AJ. He was very clear in informing me of my options in resolving the matter. With a quick exchange of emails, a replacement was shipped today! Now that's what I call customer satisfaction

@vaporbrothers Thanks for the reassurance. I am familiar with production and completely understand. Though I was a bit disappointed with my luck of the draw, I'm relieved by the service I received from VW. Hopefully it arrives by Saturday, will make my weekend that much more enjoyable

In regards to the funky taste, it really only occurred on the first 2 hits. Tasted great after that, so not really sure what it was. Can't wait till the ceramic heaters are back in stock though!

I think the off taste you're referring to is caused because the wick needs to be totally saturated for the pure taste to come through. Your first dab may not have been large enough to fully saturate the wick. Your second dab should tastes much better. Just make sure you load enough concentrate then pulse the button 2 or three times for two seconds to burn the oil into the wick. When I first got my dabbler I tried to take as many hits as I could which was a big mistake because if you run the coil dry the taste will deteriorate quickly. I usually only take 2 big hits and if I need more I reload on top of any remaining oil. That way the taste is always great. Also, make sure you're not heavy on the button. When I take a hit it's like 6 seconds on then two seconds off then another 6 seconds on while inhaling the whole time. The Dabbler truly is a great vape. Once you get used to it I think you'll love it!! I know I do.....

Has anyone else experienced difficulty when removing the part that screws on top of the heating element? I accidentally got a little bit of wax along the connection and have had to resort to plyers in order to unscrew the piece to load another dab. I tried cleaning along it but didn't have much luck

Anyone have suggestions?

First off, don't try to pull it off cold, heat it up well first.

Once you get it off, wipe the threads clean before putting it back on. Again, heat helps, I use ISO dampened cloth to get into the threads. The sort of cotton tee shirts are made from.

I assume you're talking about the screw on 'cone', not the MP itself? The MP has no threads to wipe of course, but mine had a 'mold mark' in the cylindrical area that made the fit very tight, once removed all was well.

Alright, so after having had this little puppy for a while now, I think I owe it some words.

I don't know why I'm surprised that it's as reliable as it is. Every time I put a bit of oil in, close the top cone, and press the button, I know exactly what it's going to do when. It has a nice feel in the hand, the appropriate weight for it. The button is really welcomed, not surprisingly.

Surprisingly, I've been using this a bit different than some of you guys I suspect. It's found its place in my rotation as a quick electric nail. See, I don't actually really use the cone. The 18mm male joint on my bubbler is the perfect size for the ceramic core to sit on top of to create a seal. All I do is load a little dab in, melt in, then invert it like that. I never really liked removing the cone that much as I found that flavor degraded when the concentrate was reheated. Thus, I only load dabs that I can fully vape in one hit. This ends up being perfect and incredibly fast to load and get a dab through my piece since I can have it "on" and not being used. This is a lot easier than switching adapters, getting a nail out, heating it, then dabbing, then waiting for the nail to cool down if you don't have a glass dish for it... kind of a pain. I also feel that this setup is a bit more efficient at vaporizing small small dabs effectively since it takes a bit to heat up all the way (as well as the core style). I can get surprising clouds from really small dabs.

So my Dabbler mostly hangs out topless  and gives me really quick satisfying dabs. Satisfying enough for me to put my DART away again (she really doesn't need unnecessary wear...) and if anything happens to the ceramic core, I have a brand new standard core in the case. Battery life has been pretty great, I charged it once in the middle of the week I think? Still going strong.

Also, I'm super glad @VaporWarehouse sent me that little oil container! I ran a quick micro to get some oil and winterized, and it ended up being super sappy. Almost a pain to get it on my Dabbler... almost. But it comes off perfectly from the container. I put mine in a corner and then smashed the wall against the floor of it and it made a nice little sap patty :)

Quick update. Was able to get a battery replacement shipped to me and it arrived on Saturday. I got ample time over the weekend to test out this pen. Unfortunately, not sure if it is a sole problem for me, but there is still a lingering funky taste that has existed since I first tried my Dabbler. When I hit my dabs, they taste great, but whenever I get towards the end of the dab or heat it up with no concentrate on the coil, this strange taste keeps coming back. It is really ruining my experience with this pen as this flavor is making the vapor very unpleasant.

I have tried different concentrates, still get this flavor. Have tried just smoking the wax alone to see if the flavors is coming from them, but I have concluded that it is my dabbler.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I think this is pretty normal for 'running lean'. Don't you notice it with similar style vapes? I sure do. Not only does the production drop when stuff goes dry, but the taste shifts. My assumption is the temperature has gone higher and we're getting other, less familiar, fractions?

I agree with OF, taste drops off dramatically once the wick starts to run dry...

Well the thing is, it's not necessarily a taste that I associate with concentrates. It's a strange flavor that has nothing to do with cannabis, at least from my experience. It's almost like a chemical flavor but not quite. It was there when I first tried it and it's still there now with different types of waxes I tried over the weekend. Is the wick supposed to give off flavor? My understanding is that it was used specifically because it does not burn, but I am pretty ignorant on the matter

Hmm, maybe everyone gets this flavor and it's just personal that I can't enjoy it. This is my first vape pen, so I'm not sure what to expect in terms of flavor.

Try cleaning your wick with 91% ISO. Takes about a day or two to soak/agitate, but its worth it. Mine always come out white again. Search this thread for cleaning techniques, I've posted my findings, and other have done the same, some with step by step walkthroughs. Good luck.

Well I've only had an operating pen for about 3 days now, but I suppose there could be things that need to be washed out that were not prior to use. I read somewhere in this thread that it was a bad idea to soak the black matte finish, is this true? I will go ahead and only fill the chamber area with iso if that is the case.

I wouldn't fill the crucible, just put a very small amount in a dish (not enough to touch the black finish) just enough to cover the threads. You don't want to soak the cartridge.

Alright. I see that the video suggests soaking in iso and agitating along with some cleaning/scraping with a metal tool, I'll go ahead and give this a try tonight.

I never had to scrape at anything with a metal tool.. I used an old spin brush toothbrush head to scrub it.

VaporWarehouse has been experimenting with using other brand parts on the Dabbler batteries. And our conclusion is it is not recommended.

We were using a skillet that looked identical to the Dabbler skillet. Turns out there was a slight difference in length of the contact in the skillet and it ended up pushing down the center contact of the battery. It appears this caused the battery to short circuit and it now flashes 3 times.

The center contact (gold color) in the Dabbler battery is a bit fluid and if it gets pushed down it can and most likely will cause problems with the battery. It's important to also keep those areas clean and not let oil get on it. I've seen some batteries returned with oil in that area. This can cause the contacts to stick together and damage the battery.

I'm no engineer, just a curious sales and marketing person with the luxury of have extra parts laying around to experiment with. I'm sure some one will correct me but this has been my finding with my limited knowledge.

YES it has happened to me. When there is so much wax overflowing and going into the threads, they can lock up to the point that not even a wrench can get the top ("cone") off. But every time it's been solved by running the heater for 10-20 seconds. The wax liquifies just enough the the top comes off without a problem.

First off, don't try to pull it off cold, heat it up well first.

No I'm 100% there with you, I think that "flavor" when you overcook oil juts tastes like ASS

But I reason that it's just the oil (or impurities in the oil) cooking off, because you can heat up a new coil red hot no problem. The burnt smell only appears when you add oil, so I'm pretty sure it's the oil itself making the taste.

Thanks for the insight, Joe. I dare say while many of us know what burnt oil tastes like, few really know about the taste of ass........

What's the old joke about the two guys in the Barber shop when the Barbers ask each if he wants a shot of the smelly stuff? The first says, 'no way, I don't want my wife thinking I smell like a whorehouse'. The other says, 'sure, splash it on, my wife doesn't have the first idea what a whorehouse smells like...'.

I can just assume you guys have way different parties than we do here? They have those kinds of parties in San Francisco all the time I'm told, but here in the 'burbs' life is a little more tame. Usually.

Great to have your experience to fall back on. We can all benefit from your experience and not have to repeat the test. Thanks very much for sharing.

Is this Forum great or what?
