Just got the fanatic EVO in.

:D

I was also supposed to get the Early Bird glass in, but somehow that didn't make it to the pickup facility today. So I'll get that tomorrow probably. Has there still not been a pick of the Early Bird Straight? If not, I'll post one when I get it.

@Fame Is A Vapor

I will start experimenting with this one now, which is presumably a little bit closer to yours. With the black unit I got, I can have any amount of herb in (sometimes I keep packing on more and more after browning the first loads in the same ELB), in any kind of grinded state (shaken, stirred, poked and speared and stirred heavily with tool, etc.) at max temp, and it will not combust.

I am hoping this one will combust near max. I am thinking that the black unit I received is a bit on the underside in temp and may not work well with concentrates.

Ideally, we want our units to combust at max or near max. 11-12 should give really creamy nice clouds too. Yada yada. I really do think it's strange how there is such a variance between all units.

Yesh as in YES! post it! Or yesh it's already been posted!

Also, I tested both in my Mobius and I noticed there is a slight bit more restriction in the LE unit. It's not enough to fuss about, but I actually do prefer the lesser amount of drag from the black unit.

How's additional testing coming, @Fame Is A Vapor? Any more combustion?

And I played with less in the ELB and higher temp in the EVO and wow... that works very nicely. This whole experience is such a departure from what I have been doing for 20+ years that it is an insanely enjoyable adventure.
Less is more.

I grind using the SCS, I scoop in about a fourth to a third of the ELB, in very loose herb (no packing at all), and after every hit, I pull it and sorta shake it, then toss on counter.
After four hits, it's pretty done.

I shake mine too, but additionally when I really want the most bang for my buck and shaking aint doing much anymore, I will open up the ELB and take my metal stirring tool and stir aggressively, breaking it up against the walls of the ELB (obviously not harming the ELB though). Then I put it back in and hit it on max (don't do max if yours combusts there!) and then I'll typically get another visible vapor hit.

OK, you think the EVO is a killer, try doing two at once on a huge mofo recycler. Like 1.3 gallons of water, alot of glass and two dynamite herb vaping all at once!

Dueling EVOs - ZC sucking down two loads uses two EVOs using my 24” Hamm Hurricane recycler:

OK, Bob’s turn :)

You might notice there isn’t one of me, because well, you would need tp ick me up off da floor! It took ZC/Bob a while to be able to drive home believe me. :)
Thanks @PhotoRider & @Bob Loblaw
for such a great night. Happily I stayed longer than Bob and chill down with smaller pieces and dabbing all night :)
So nice when minds alike meet.
On EVO topic, I tried a new method for me that works well at MAX for dabbing.
What I do, close your ELB, upside down, place dab on top of the basket, now it's the ELB bottom but the outside :science: , insert on EVO upside down as well. Place on Clear Matrix, fly to the sky and kiss Mother Plant :bigleaf:
Stay vaped my friends....

Yesh it's been posted, but I forget where (I think Instagram via the EVO Anticipation thread efforting to find it....) Edit: found it! But WE ALWAYS WANT MOAR PICS!!11!!:mmmm:
Straight neck EB HT sighting on Instagram!!!

Edit: @JoeKickass this one is for you...you've been anxiously waiting!!

As for additional testing, it's just recently been completed. Made greater efforts at a more scientific method here.

Conditions: All ELBs were filled ~1/4 full with Grape Soda flower nice even medium grind. From cold start, EVO was set to 3 and waited for green. Let stay green @3 for several minutes...brought down to 10:30 and waited for green. Let stand green for 3 mins before vaping. Each subsequent rise in temp was given 3 mins after green light before vaping. Each ELB was given 2 long, slow draws until I had just enough lungs left to pull & clear the Hydraline HT. Each ELB was given 3 shakes between the 1st and 2nd draw. Turns out I'm not such an idiot after all. My results show that my EVO does run a bit hot, in that it will combust at, or just below, 12 on the dial. (EDIT: granted, the Grape Soda is on the dry side. I've just ordered a new humidor, thanks @S1N3 !, and am excited that I'll eventually be able control for humidity across all my varying strains. The real good news is that my improved technique has stopped combustion at 11, and has improved the consistency of color when vaping at lower temps (ie., less to none 'singed' edges).

Edit: I filled the 11 o'clock ELB a bit more than the others, and probably could have given it an extra draw or two for more even extraction/coloration.

Lol... because your range is so small I'm pretty sure you're the only one who uses things like 10:50 and etc.

"Dude, 12:27 is my sweet spot."
What's amazing to me is that you can see a real difference with just "10mins" difference on the dial. I'd do a 5-min interval if I thought I could do it accurately. But I don't think I could...

Neat. The new model of Belkin's WeMo called Insight shows when the Evo's heater cycles on/off by detecting current draw and displaying the wattage it's currently pulling in the app. At noon it seems to cycle on every 15 seconds for 15 seconds and draw up to 69 watts. From noon to max it turned on for a full 55 seconds and drew up to 105 watts, at which time it again started to do the 15 on/off cycle but this time drawing around 89 watts. This was with a up to temperature Evo. Gonna be fun to watch these numbers on cold start ups and what not.

Would you please share what you are doing to avoid joint lock?

... However, I immediately learned I DO NOT want to ever allow the full weight of the tube + gravity to rest on the EVO joint. Those joints locked up real good. I rocked and rocked, accidentally twisted, rocked some more, set it down and cried and thought great I've already broken it goddammmmnnnittt!!!! But then I took a deep breath, turned the unit off. Counted to 30. Rocked the HT and off it came. Phew! With this big bad heavy HT, I now hold the tube in my left hand, and slowly join the EVO from below with my right hand. I have no fear of experiencing joint lock again with this method. Thank God. That was scary. It's the weight and size of the tube that made it so scary, it just manhandles the bamboo when it's locked on tight. The Hydraline HT, on the other hand....

Have not experienced joint lock since employing this technique. Sometimes I switch up left-right, and use right-left. :clap:But I only recommend this if you are also ambidextrous like me, ymmv.:p
I focus on using the minimal amount of pressure needed to create a seal. It's already becoming second nature. Also, I cup the EVO from below like I'm holding a dog treat, instead of gripping around the base like a beer can, this way I can apply pressure on just my index and middle finger to one side of the square base to rock the EVO loose, where as if I am gripping like a beer can, I am apt to accidentally apply a twisting pressure when trying to rock the EVO or HT loose. And that makes me very nervous!

Edit: No SlideRight or other additives used! Of course, I ALWAYS make sure my joints are dry...

This might solve the "compressed flower range" issue I have with my EVO! I'm assuming I could use the wattage display as a kind of redneck digital temperature readout, I'd just have to start out low and increase the dial slowly, marking the wattage levels where new vapor is released...hmmmmmmmmmm *trots off to Google "Insight Belkin wetdreams come true too"

FameIsAVapor: Wow, this looks exactly like the whole min-to-max range of my Cloud+ compressed in 10-to-11.
My Cloud never combusted (but was able to make ABV look like yours 11:15 when on the max) and could make light tasty vapor at min.
That is exactly the range I think I'll be using mostly, so I hope this calibration issues get resolved. Getting combustion above 2 could be okay.
There are no concentrates here, but who know how it will be in 10 years... So I'd like the concentrate range to be there just in case. I just don't want this concentrate range to cover the majority of the dial.

The ideal range FOR ME could be like this:
9-: no vapor (so it can vape low-temp vaporizables that combust at very low heat.)
9-10: vapor, but no browning or even yellowing
10-2: the FameIsAVapor's pictured range
2+: combustion/concentrates

If I am not mistaken, this should be the ideal calibration setting VXL choose as well.
So it probably just needs to get more consistent.

Looking at that EQ I think you could reclaim enough weed to get several people baked when opened.
Even the bits spread on it could do it :D
That's the main reason why I use ELBs in the EQ (the huge performance leap also mean a lot).
Fuck the EQ's bowl system. So messy and not fully performing.
If I opened my EQ now, I bet there wouldn't be a single bit of weed there to be found.

Yes that is mine and as soon as I can get a ELP I am going that route. Actually, have not use it that much till ZC and Bob taught me :) Thanks guys, but I am messy to, hence the crumbs :) But 100% agree the ELB kicks butt over the EQ bowl. Its just to big and gets dirty ...

EDIT: I am buying an EVO pre-order today since its my birthday. So do you think the Glass is worth $150? I ask being I have so many rigs that I could use, just wondering if you would use it if you had other glass to use like me...

Almost there...
Slightly off topic here...

Has anyone seen the BLUE VapeXhale Cloud Evo with custom carrying case for sale on ebay???
No minimum asking price but a buy it now for $600!

Seems a bit odd that a tester would be selling their unit...

He is also selling a used Cloud that he is calling the EVO!
Calls it an UNUSED item but the picture clearly shows a very brown joint on the bamboo...

Just search for "used vaporizer" and then select "newly listed" about halfway down the page.
I smell something fishy...

I just done a little research on this item ^^ The seller "epfeiffer" is Eric Pfeiffer from Yahoo ;) So we all know where units come from. What a nice blue EVO ^^ Love it, orange one too... He removed the "buy it now"... Nice item.

Buen día FCers:
I keep testing everyday "Nueve-A-Cinco" and I can't be happier.
I tried capped, non capped ELBs for dabbing. I'm finding easier to load the dab, when I leave the ELB empty heating in the EVO.
When warm enough, just use your dab and stick it to the outside bottom of the ELB.
I try to invert the EVO to load the ELB with the dab just in case too much heat melts the dab and drips in the bamboo. No issues so far.
Note my shed table is not level, that's why my Clear Matrix don't fire all the perc even. First video water level is too high for my taste. Realized too late. 2nd and 3rd videos are my favorite water levels.
Sorry I don't edit. 3 videos together shot with a phone. 3rd video is at 12 with flowers :)
Enjoy the long video and stay vaped my friends....

Well as it turns out, I'm doing the same thing - holding HT in one hand, EVO cupped from below in other hand. So contact comes from lifting EVO up to HT rather than the HT sitting on the EVO. I only got joint-lock once, and that was with using ice water, not a good idea!

And, oh, btw I am also ambidextrous. :D

Like your lefty-righty way :)
Right now I'm not using that much my HT. I've been using adapters , like this one, and this one never locks and has a 2nd purpose. I'm trying to imitate Vapolution Inline Infuser DIY.
Thanks @PhotoRider for the carbon filter that I emptied and I'm using it now as a Nug Sugar Daddy Coater.
More :science: needed for results...
In the process right now :smug:

PS: IMO it acts like an organic extra filter. Pretty similar to using a cotton or hemp filter.

Edit:
Now that is better. First it was too close to the heat source. Bud was almost vaporizing there :) the power of the EVO
I think I got it right this time :)
