The Cloud EVO Anticipation Thread

Vapor only
My back up vape was just used as a chew toy by my dog.
My wife let our son play with my storage case, and thought he couldn't open it... Well, he can.

Need the Evo now more than ever.

Oh, and I'm reading that the new Evo that some people are getting is able to combust as low as a 12 o'clock setting.

Am I the only one that is not looking forward to this?

I'm sure all other international contributors got the update. Am I the only person who thought it didn't really say anything?
Was just kinda' we're looking for new components because we can't get too many of these good components. . . Doesn't sound too hopeful for the new year in my mind. . .
Ah well, needs must.

well it did state that testing did go well, just imagine problems would have come up...now that would have set back the international shipping date drastically I would guess :2c:

of course I would've enjoyed a definite "yes, the date X is delivery" but hey they now know what's up and order the according parts as it seems.
Back to anticipation:spliff:

What concerns me a bit is how they are editing the goal. First it was "we hope all IGG contributors shipped before christmas", then "all preorders before new year", now it became "all IGG contributors before new year".
I think I will just have to deal with the fact I'll see the EVO in 2014.
And I think the people who are going to gather here on Christmas are going to be disappointed.
Most of them only tasted the Cloud once last summer. They will have to wait until next summer to taste it again.
This is the main reason, why i'm hoping for it to ship asap.
I can survive not having the EVO by Christmas, I'm not that impatient.
Just the gathering is going to have the opportunity to taste the EVO only until the new year.
Thank god I have the backup EQ at least. I think the MFLB just couldn't satisfy the crowd.

I did not pick a very specific information from the last IGG update as an international early brid but for me, VXL can take anytime they want until the EVO and all of the other stuffs come functionning.

No need to hurry when the lord is on the way.

Amen. clap your hands.

I have a hard time believing they will be here by xmas. I've had a broken cloud for 7 months that they wouldn't service as they ramped up the EVO which when i contributed at IGG i was supposed i gettin October. As a customer with a broken cloud that is unable to be serviced i absoulutely should get bumped up to a better spot in line. It would be better for them not to make false promises. October was never going to happen, why did they say that? I find it really hard to believe that they'll be getting through all of IGG by december. Why doesn't vapexhale hire more people for assembly so they can get there product out in a reasonable time? I'm going to be upset if the december date is another broken promise.

They're already being nominated as the best startup of 2013. They just got on they feet after getting sabotaged by the manufacturer they hired, it will take time before they grow. Also as they got burned so many times hiring people already, I understand why are they so cautious about who they let in their team.

I hear ya, i think its a great product. My thinking is that they will have to hire more people eventually why not do it now and get everyone on the same page for when production ramps up. They appear to have the cashflow with all the IGG and preorders. There have got to be some people or friends they can trust to hire to get it out and not sacrifice the testing process. 5 guys is too small a team, if they had just 8-10 people they could do a lot more and i find it hard to believe they can't find 4 other people they can trust. And what makes the VXH team such qualified excellent product testers and assemblers? There are people who have years of experience testing and assembling products for a living, why not have one of them on your team? I understand they are trying to lower costs as they are a start up but this process is so slow that its disrespectful to the customers that were promised something months ago. I understand they want quality control and they can have that while still having more people on the team, they should have hired more immediately after the indie gogo campaign went so well so that they could deliver on there promises.

vaporeyes444,
Well it looks like PART 1 of my Early Bird Arrived today. Too bad its the part that I cant really use. Still cant call myself a cloud owner yet. I got my bent hydratube, stand, and wristband. Looks like I will have to wait until tomorrow to get part 2.

Whoa, interesting! Good to see them getting more glass out the door...I assumed there was a shortage of early bird tubes

ETA for an unbuilt product to arrive was not a promise. It was not a pre-order and as we know from TV Cartoons (Pre-Order doesn't mean shit!)

Why does anyone ever list ETA's that don't happen? Because it's part of doing project planning. You plan for something, and something else comes up and changes the plan.

My company is very good at launching products and doing it at the time of the announced plan. But we don't make vapes, we are not just 5 people, and it costs us MILLIONS of dollars to do it. We also have regulations and all sorts of pressures outside of $$ to launch within certain tight windows. We have hundreds of millions of dollars set aside to make it happen.

And we've been doing it for over 25+ years.

Another key to note is specifically to the electronics hard good industry, launching "on-time" rarely benefits the consumer. In fact, if you look at some of the big electronics launches recently, they sucked and were saddled with faulty hardware.

XBOXONE is already apologizing for their faulty disc drives. It launched on time tho...

The list goes on and on. I'd much rather have a working EVO in December than a faulty unit in October.

Going out and hiring a bunch of people you think you might need IF you succeed is what kills many start ups. I can tell you for personal experience, I worked for a start up that was going great UNTIL we hired a bunch of people we didn't need yet.

I was in heated arguments with our CFO and CEO about that. I was right of course, bu there were no hard feelings. They blamed it on the VCs. 2 years later, I was the last employee laid off. I had to watch everyone around me get canned. I kept looking at all those 2-3 year old PCs and fancy european desks, sitting empty. Expensive monuments to our failure to control spending in the face of external pressure.

Why not hire a tester? Cost. The same reason no one hires testers full time. Test cycles are exactly that, cycles. Temporary work. My favorite tester in my office is gone this week, and we haven't launched the release yet! Her term ran out, and that's that. I would personally loved to hire her full time. But if I was actually in charge of hiring testers in that dept, I could not have done so with a clear conscience. The test cycle is complete. We can't pay her to sit around and look busy.

Going from 5 guys to 10 would DOUBLE the size of their company. DOUBLE! Doubling the amount of salary and benefits and overhead...

Again, they didn't make promises that they are not delivering on. They are running a start-up and trying to launch a product. No one pinky promised shit.

I understand that everyone has different opinions on how things could go, did go, will go with VXL, but armchair CEOing and 2nd guessing stuff from months ago based on hindsight doesn't do anything.

How do you know a fulfillment team isn't in place and being vetted right now? No one is trying to lower costs by scrimping on personnel. Production is being scaled up as results allow. Assembly has shifted momentarily to LE Vectra units now that both sides of the enclosure are in. Regular units will resume production shortly if they haven't already. There have been some adjustments made along the way so there is much wisdom in the way they have done things.

I finally placed my order for a VapeXhale Cloud EVO with dry stem piece!

So, so, so can't wait to get one in my hands!!

[e]: You can use the Cloud right away with a female 18mm joint bubbler, right? No additional GonG adapters necessary?

BTW if my post sounds harsh, it's not meant that way. I'm just trying to be as realistic as possible when explaining my understanding of how things are going, and what I've understood has been communicated in this thread. I am just another guy waiting on an EVO. I have no real inside knowledge on VXL etc... :)

I am nobody
Nobody is who I am

TBPH this is my first crowd-source contribution. I've considered like 15 different kickstarters but never contributed for a bunch of reasons. (and most of the Kickstarters I considered seriously have failed/closed) So it's really a learning process for me as well.

But when I submitted my payment to IGG< I knew at that time that I could be sending my money off to die. $500 is relatively nothing in terms of the potential trade off for me. The PS3 for instance was like $600 in 2005. $500 for a sweet piece of glass and the best reviewed desktop vape ever built? I'd do it again in a second.

I know it's a fool's errand to ask, but I'll bite:

Any idea on how long regular pre-orders take to ship after placing an order? I'll most likely try and forget about the order until it ships so the wait isn't as bad. :)

Not to criticize, but THAT's a real update, thanks!

So to read a bit more into this...

If all goes well the rest of the fanatics will go out this week for delivery hopefully in time for xmas. Then the rest of the early birds followed by trade-ins out next week for delivery by the end of the year, which would be in line with SM's projections. Does this sound about right to you?
