Guys to use Shatter type material you would need a great deal of heat. These are a little more stubborn then regular wax types that are easily turned into liquid when heated.

Just got my O-Phos in the mail yesterday and had a couple questions.

I loaded the included cart with 0.75g of high grade Seedmans Haze shatter and got a few nice hits off it but now the cart seems to be broken. It doesn't get hot, if I press the button I don't see the glowing heater. I tested the cart before filling and got a few hits, so I know it wasn't DOA. I also confirmed that my empty spare cart glows, so I know it's not the battery. Is the cart dead? Is there a way to fix it? Is this common?

Also, while describing how to fill the cart at my local dispensary the budtender told me to be careful about heating BHO, especially sativas. He was saying that applying heat will cause decarboxalation and give the BHO less of a sativa buzz and more of an indica like buzz. Is he overreacting or is this a serious concern?

What is a 5.0 ohm or 2.4 cart?

5 ohms are for higher voltage devices like the persei that can operate at 7.4v

2.4 ohm are for devices that use 3.7v

The higher the number in ohms the higher the voltage, lower number in ohms you would need lower volts.

Those carts have two heaters. It sounds like one of them (upper?) heater died on you. I like to suggest people use less viscous meds when learning these carts. Essier to load and prime and hit. I like the Organalabs C02 syringes for those carts if you have access to them (CA, WA, and CO)... Although by its very nature any legit co2 oil should work nicely.

I use carts with CO2 oil.
My K.I.S.S. cart seems to handle the SHATTER as does the HERCULES SR71.
I like BLONDE CRUMBLE as well and load this in a 2.4 cart with no problem.

I used the 5.0 carts with SHATTERS with out trouble as well. (2 x AW IMR 18350's)

The OMICRON or O-PHOS with 2.4 carts filed with CO2 Oil work fine!
Even Crumble.

Some like the 1.5 carts I have never tried.

If I'm doing something wrong please correct me!

Hey THC,

I am interested in getting some KISS carts for my V1 and Omicron V2.5 in chrome. Do you anticipate getting more in stock in the next month or so? Thanks

We stocked and ready to rock and roll.

It's been about 6 days since I "thought" I was out of oil... Next cart I get I will be sure to weigh, because I just found like .2 in there . I have tried hitting the omicron so may times with no success (15+ everyday) and all I had to do was hold it up facing down.

I have been looking everywhere for an inside image of the cartridge, I'd like to full understand how it works.

Edit: I also heated the cartridge up several times in an attempt to get oil

Mine flashes purple, but I think that means your battery is dead

By all means, do weigh your Omicron carts before filling and keep the weight handy. Don't load more than about .7 over this under any conditions, .5 is better for most concentrates, reload when you get to .2 since that's what's retained. This has been covered maybe a hundred times in this and the Persei threads? Too bad you didn't know, it's not a secret.

You also obviously didn't "look everywhere" for a photo of the works, I've posted this one several times, and it's been reposted by none less than G is own self:

You can see the wicks with the vaporizing heater (under the 'scab' of deposits, the ones that eventually foul the cart out). It fits in the slots of the ceramic furnace body with the bulk heater wrapped around it. These both sit at the bottom end of the flue in the bottom of the tube with the concentrate around the outside.

I'd suggest some reading for tips on using Omicron carts, lots of good stuff seems to have got past you?

Best wishes.

You're welcome, glad it helped.

It's also important, I think, to watch loading. Preheating the center of the cart (above the seals) before the goods get melted down is important to keep them from cooling off and sticking part way leaving an air bubble in to block flow to the wick area. This is probably the most common new owner problem?

Stick with goods that pass the foil test, weigh dry, load half a gram preheating the center carefully, reload at .2 grams left, never run the heater dry for any reason, and carefully cool down thin oils and you'll have clear sailing.........
