Thats for the tip, thats likely why they sell you the tube in the outer pocket, to remind you to store it there to keep the smell down.

i love the bag, such a nice touch, i can store all my herbal supplies in there if i need to take my vape on the road. including my Cera and acc, grinder, ssv, bubbler if i had one. great bag.

got a mate over atm, showing him the SSV, he has an Exq and after like just a few tokes he was like, wow, i need one of these, hits so much better.

just saw the new titanium oil attachment for the SSV at my local headshop... basically it's a Ti dish that fits right onto the ceramic rod, there's a large globe heater cover that goes around it and connects out with a 18mm female ground joint... a Da Buddah-like wand connects with a nice little reclaim pocket and then there's a glass marble that sits on top (which I don't fully understand) to cover it while it's not in use... or perhaps to help with air flow after you drop the dab in... but I'd think in most cases you'd leave the marble off while you're hitting it since you'll have your dabber in there... eitherway, very cool, was retailing for $80... do want!

I don't fully understand it either but it sure looks cool.
It's on sale at 7th floor for $60, I just got my shipping notice :science:

I've got a flavor oil kit and love it. Just a word to the wise: I'd leave it on and let the nail heat up for a while before dabbing, I think mine must have had some nasty factory shit coating it because the first couple of hits tasted/smelled awful and a bit metallic. It hits nicely now though :)

Are there any real drawback to having ground glass?

I'm thinking of switching because I don't like holding the wand to the heating element.

Doug is just the man.

Now for your question, I've personally preferred the GonG attachment to the hands free, especially with a water pipe.

You can perhaps get more even and thicker hits with the standard, but I never found it overly noticeable. I own both heater caps and wands.

Hey everyone, i was wondering if anyone could help me. Im new to the forums, but not my ssv. It has been a couple of months since i've purchased her and up until today she worked fine. The problem is that although the vape is heating up just fine, im not getting any hits. This is the first winter im having with the ssv so maybe the cold is interfering as i do hit it with an open window and it's freezing. Could that have something to do with it? im getting occasional skimpy hits and im drawing like i always do and nothing is happing. Thanks.

In addition I'm pretty ripped... so this is even weirder.

Check to be certain that your Heater Cover is down snug, and has not moved.. and see to it that no cracks have developed.
Turn the heat up a bit, or hit it more slowly/steadily.
Has your usual strain changed?(did this change accompany the weather change?)

I am probably getting my first SSV soon. A used one.

The seller is not including a whip or screens since the whip for the ground glass heater piece. It comes with a GonG heater cap but no wand for the cap.

What should I get myself for it? Is the hands free thing that looks like a bent piece of metal really worth it?

I like whip vapes and have one whip left over from my old Vapolution 2.0 but I don't know how else is advised to use the SSV.

Lastly how does the GonG even work with this. The seller says he has a 14mm GonG for this. I have a 18mm hydratube as my only glass. Is there any way to use the SSV with a hydratube well?

The hands free thing you speak of is for the Standard Heater cover and hand held wand.
(It works poorly)
You already have Ground Glass Heater Cover (heater piece?)... so all you need is a hands free (ground glass) wand They come with a screen already in them.
See the website and see some youtube videos and you will get the idea.
any tool can be hooked to any whip... just get the right adapters.
Generally speaking the GonG piece goes into the mouthpiece end of the whip, and then it goes to your glass.... so the glass becomes the mouthpiece.... at the opposite end of the tube is the wand.

Yup, I'm glad to know I won't need to be spending money on the Standard Heater cover.

I was mostly confused by all the different terminology of the different attachments. I found out I'll need to be buying my own GonG wand and I suppose I'll get a 18mm GonG adapter for it since the 14mm GonG adapter is useless for me?

Also any chance anyone knows if the whip from a vapolution 2.0 will fit on this or maybe i need more whips?

You can still use your 14mm GonG adapter, just get an 18mm male to 14mm female adapter which can be found on ioffer or ebay. I scored one for about $15. That'll be cheaper than getting a SSV 18mm GonG adapter.

You have a good point, but I could also just get a 18mm adapter for $11 + shipping :p
I'd just have to hope it stays in the hydratube! I'm sure I could just get some appropriately sized silicone tubing though and make it work without a GonG adapter even (although it would certainly be nice)

Is the fatty wand that much bigger than the normal one? Not sure if it's worth the extra ~$10 really...

Got some custom glass from 7thfloor, been about a month maybe since i got my ssv and so far no complaints. Love the custom glass i got, black and white fritted wand and mouth peice with black tubing, hides all resi (i live with my non stoner sisters, they let me vape whever i want in our apartment but its important to me that they dont make incorrect judgements about residue buildup and vaping for health)

Only things im a bit disappointed in is the hands free adaptor, worked great for the first night but now it seems it cant keep an airtight seal, perhaps i need to bend it a bit, either way i still like how it holds the weed on the vape so it doenst spill when i put the wand down, but sometimes i forget it doenst seal and sit there vaping being like why no vape??? then i realise i forgot to hold it on lol. I think i was also just spoiled with an ExQ being totally hands free, the ssv is really more 'normal' in its non hands free nature.

Another weird thing, no matter what i try, i always seem to get a light combustion/very dark avb spot after the first toke on a fresh bowl, even if i roll the wand around on the heater and use a low tempreture it seems always i will get a small burn circle. doesnt seem to affect flavor and once you take that first toke and stir it a bit its fine. Still happens if i leave quite a bit of space between the heater and the weed, as in, not packing the bowl much.

Does this happen to anyone? it really doesnt affect me much but its just interesting.

Yes the handsfree adapter does need a little tweaking to get right. Back when I used my SSV a lot more I loved my adapter.

It could be the "choke" of the wand causing the hotspot effect, concentrating the heat. It was never a big deal with my gear but yes there was a spot that was a shade darker.

Can anyone speak to the normal transfer wand vs the fatty transfer wand?
I'm interested in being able to pack more, at the same time don't want to sacrifice the quick instant extraction for something that'll take a long time and many stirs to finish...

I don't own a phatty wand, but you can get a massive hit from the standard wand, maybe if you were doing a lot of group sessions it might be a good investment. Otherwise in my opinion, stick the the standard and in the extremely unlikely event you need something bigger, get it then.

Hopefully someone who owns one will come forward with some info for you.

I have had a fatty wand for 3 months and really dont like it. I was hoping to be able to pack up larger amounts of bud and get bigger hits. For me it was a fail, I love the standard wand and have 3 but the fatty wand just is harder to produce thick satisfying pulls. I definitely tried many different draw speeds and length, stirring after every hit does not help. Funny thing is I believe someone posted this here maybe 100 pages ago but I still decided to give it a try, I havent used my Fatty wand in a month. The standard wand gets the job done and actually hits much better at 1/3 full just as the experts here have stated like Vitolo. I vape more than the average person I have been a medical marijuana grower for 15 yrs so I understand the thought process of more herb is needed to get you stoned like a bong-joint-blunt but with the SSV this is not the case when more herb is used it restricts the airflow especially with Kushes (Bubba-OG) and of course the quality of the herb makes the biggest difference in ones overall vaping experience. Less really is more, I hold my hits for 30 secs after inhaling for 5 secs and I still exhale vapes, I love this unit. Just my 2 cents.

I prefer the fatty wand when my medicine is subpar, otherwise the standard is the one I pack.

I've been using my ssv for a while now and still love it.
I am curious though, I've been reading back through the forums and people say to make sure the heater cover is pressed all the way down. Mine is down as far as it can go, but is not able to go all the way down because of the screws attaching the wire holder (it is resting on top of these).
I get good hits and can get my avb dark brown, but in order to burn it I have to turn the heat all the way up and pull as slow as I can (not that I want to burn it, just defining the limits).
So I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering if other heater covers do sit flush.

As far as it can go is all you can ask
They all vary since they are each hand blown... some are flusher than others but that difference gets adapted to by the owner! Some even have a small bead or drip from the glass blower down at the place the HC sits.. but that is ok
As far as it can go is all you can ask

Well i worked out how to bend the hands free, i had mine flattened out :\ needs to be pushing away from the back of the unit, and once more i can vape and wack off with ease. Not really, but i can do other things with my hands like play video games.

Re the fatty wand, my custom one has a fatty i think, at least its much larger than the standard wand. I havnt notcied much of a difference i can still do a small pack or a huge pack if i want.
