The Cloud EVO Anticipation Thread

Look, I'm not ragging on the company. And I am letting them "build the fucking units". Never once did I email them to ask anything.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable with wanting an update. I don't want to see their fucking financials or anything.

I also find it funny how some people have to take offense any time someone questions VXH. I love these guys, they have helped me in more ways than most on this forum. (Yep been following for years).

That said, I'd like to know when to expect my vape! I've waited through October and November. Now it's December and I'd like an idea. This doesn't mean I need a history lesson about SM or a lecture on how upstanding they are.

Is this wrong? I mean if I saw SM at a Starbucks I'd ask "hey, where the fucks my EVO?" Yet I shouldn't say it in a thread created specifically for that question? I just don't get it sometimes.

Sorry for the rant, I'm at work and bored :)

I'm bored also, guys. :)

Nothing wrong with wanting to know when we will be getting our EVO's! Hell, I'm just a trade-in, and I ponied up the cash just a day or two before the funding ended, so I know I have one of the longer waits for my unit.

I know Tstat loves his VXL...I even bought something for my Cloud from him.

This is the thread of anticipation after all...so....................anticipate away!

Please...just let them please build the fucking units and get them out to us...:2c::nod:

VapeXhale has the utmost desire...MUCH more than any of us...to make this all work right for everyone. Their futures (financially) are literally riding on this and they not only have to fulfill all the orders, but also make sure that QC is working as well as it possibly can.

P.S. If they give us factual reports on where we all stand in the queue, tell you about when you can expect your unit, and then for some unforeseen reason cannot get it to you on time...well, there goes more bellyaching and whining.

if you have been following this company like many of us have for the last couple of years, you know that they are straight shooters and always try to keep us in the loop as much as possible. Very honest, ethical people from what I can ascertain and they WILL fulfill all our dreams of being in the EVO clouds as soon as possible.

Thank you, LIKE x 1000!

The more "updates" the less work gets done. This is coming from someone who is constantly dragged into update or metrics meetings.

I'm certainly not taking offense, I don't think anyone else is. It's simply that we have been getting updates! Stating that they don't update us is not factually accurate is all.

The issue is not everyone gets the update that matters to them specifically (where is my EVO!)

The reality is SM updates the FC community specifically multiple times per week. If I were the CEO, I would ban SM from doing updates at all. I would hire a community manager, pay her standard contractor and let her do 1x updates per week MAX and only do it on Facebook.

We can't even get updates from Arizer about SOLO model changes, and they've been at it for years. That's just a comparison

The other reality is we all agree with you , we all want more updates about our evo.

But as Spock said,

"you may find that in the end having something is not as pleasing as wanting it" but that "something" would be the update not the EVo. If Spock ever had an Evo, we probably could have avoided Star Trek V

He's not saying he wants more updates man, he's saying he wants the updates we do get to contain factual information instead of "things are going well, you'll have them soon" basically every update.

I think overall support would improve and thrive if we had an actual number count to get behind and be encouraged about, and it sounds like most others agree.

I think we should put one of those avatar robots in the assembly room at VXL so we can wander up and down the aisles and bark out orders to assemble quicker! Maybe have some roman slave ship drum beats playing through the avatar so the workers keep the proper pace up.

Aren't they manufacturing the evos in Philadelphia and the HQ is somewhere else.

So can someone please explain how an update would take away from manufacturing the units?

Many probably do, but most will not say anything for fear of being trampled under the thundering hooves of the VXH superfans.

Edit:Super happy VXH has done well to get fanatics, and I wish them nothing but the best!
Just because some people have given blind loyalty(I'm not saying that as a negative thing)doesn't mean those whose haven'ts concerns are any less meaningful(maybe a better word coud be used for meaningful).

I am a Trade-In level that received mine already...Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful and all, and in love with the thing obviously...but I don't understand why I received mine a couple weeks ago now, when I am by no means a high priority customer (I'm not "Cloud-less," and I'm only a trade-in perk level contributor...) So, I wish someone else had received their unit who was in need of a replacement, or who had contributed more before I had received mine; It just felt a little out of order  :2c:

I'm still beyond grateful to have this thing in my possession however, and it's being put to good thorough use

The reason you received yours earlier is that the Fanatic LE's were held up while there was also a shortage from Swagger. That opened up slots that would have otherwise been filled by Fanatics and Early Birds. A few Trade-In's went into those slots, in particular for those whose Clouds are broken or who paid for a Plus upgrade that was not received. You can probably count the number on one hand.

I'm wondering too :) I am an early bird bent neck who contributed in the first half of the campaign and have heard nothing.

Fanatic LE's are still being shipped. Early Birds follow.

In my opinion that would relieve SO much stress and anxiety on those awaiting units (and probably VapeXhale too). It seems completely reasonable that contributors should have access to the actual numbers (facts). And while this is my first IGG-type experience (and probably my last as well), judging from others responses it seems to be a relatively standard part of the campaign process. I can't help but think the only reason anyone would choose not to provide this information to their contributors would be if they were significantly behind schedule and would prefer to keep it quiet.

I'm not saying that's their reasoning, who really knows besides the company themselves. But what I do know is that I would personally prefer facts and an accurate understanding of when I can actually expect my unit to arrive rather than vague status updates that essentially amount to "soon" nearly every single time.

... How would you know production isn't a straight line right now?

Sorry, but those are incorrect assumptions. In the first place, the Fanatics know a lot of what is happening; there is on-going communication with VXL (if you'll recall, "beta team"), but that needs to be kept confidential. While we don't get a daily briefing, we do have a general sense of what is being done, the challenges/issues that have arisen, and the progress made. It's important to understand that there are a whole lot of moving pieces here, just converging as VXL ramps up production (and, as we knew going in, VXL is doing its own manufacturing for the first time, too). As posted earlier, besides a few product tweaks that were needed during beta, there has been a great deal of work done engineering the manufacturing environment and fulfillment processes that was not possible to begin until materials were in hand (and after close of the campaign). And also remember that VXL has been working with various size, typically quite small, batches to tightly control and refine processes, and to uncover and resolve issues.

It simply isn't feasible for VXL to provide detailed updates. And frankly, not only would it slow things down but it would be counter-productive, too. By the time a disclosed issue was beaten to death on FC (and it would be), it will have been resolved. VXL doesn't need a broad chorus to help it with what the chorus is not in a position to help with, anyway.

All of which is why there can't be detailed schedule forecasts, although it certainly is understandable that folks would want that. But if VXL provides more detail than the generalities it has, there would be multiple revisions to report which would only cause more frustration. We are only 4 weeks into an entire manufacturing and fulfillment lift-off. Give VXL time; they are getting there. For now, SM has posted that his plan is to clear the backlog before Xmas. That forecast becomes more reliable with time, and no doubt we will be informed asap if there are any meaningful changes either way.

Just playing with numbers because i am bored . . . If I am way off base, and my numbers don't make sense, totally call me out on it . . .

OK, if you insist. I'll accept the invitation and call you out. :)

Again, sorry, but all your numbers are wrong. The indiegogo contributor numbers are incorrect. The production lot sizes you estimate are inaccurate, as are your projections. There is no way to back into the answers you're looking for.

After all that blah-blah, now for the good news: My EVO including straight-neck Swagger arrived yesterday! I'll have a review up on the EVO thread soon.

EDIT: And before I get thrown to the wolves for having "blind loyalty", let me just add that I spent many years in manufacturing and industrial engineering. I've been to this movie more times than I can remember. Everything I've seen so far is fairly typical, all things considered.

Still you said you don't get a daily briefing and the other briefing you can't even give us any word on that because its a "secret." Luckily I didn't pre-order this or else I would be on the edge of my seat waiting for it. You also say it would slow things down to give an update, you honestly believe that if SM came on here and gave us a tiny update on the shipping process that it would slow down anything? Come on man.

Never thought that would be accurate.

With all the media attention vapexhale is getting only to sign up for a pre order. I know they will be working hard to clear the back order. They pretty much have to because it's all about timing. But it's good to know that there is a secret society in the know. You guys keep playing your version of the daVinci code.

I guess I really need to do better with my posts, because clearly I failed to get across the key points.

I said that we have a "general sense" of what is going on. We have that info which is suitable to our role. We don't have the operating details, particularly schedule which changes frequently with the iterative engineering that VXL is doing. What do you want, a published weekly shipping schedule? A backlog report so you can attempt to extrapolate to specific dates? Shouldn't and ain't gonna happen.

Finally, might help to brush up on crowd-sourcing: The contributors take a chance on funding a product that does not fully exist yet, let alone all the resources to produce it - that is, after all, the purpose of the funding. So obviously it was absolutely impossible to forecast shipment dates with any semblance of accuracy until quantities were known and materials ordered and materials received and the production line engineered and the fulfillment processes developed.

Hope that helps. :peace:

Right, he has time to hang with Oprah and shit but not give us an update! :dog:

Sorry for the rant, I'm at work and bored :)

Considering my last update was just a few days ago... I'll give another one, the goal is get all IGG and Pre-Orders out by New Years. I find it funny that people think that all we have to do to run a business is manufacture these units and everything is good. There is so much more to do with our team of 5 from inspecting new inventory, evaluating vendors, and the hugest chunk of our time, answering individual emails, as well as legal and administrative work. All of this takes time away from just manufacturing, it is as simple as that.

All of the guys have been putting in AT LEAST 12 hour days to make this happen and there have been days where we halted production to improve certain processes. We update AT LEAST once a week with what is going on and we would never give someone an exact date because we're still improving processes so things could be pushed back a week or even pushed up a week depending on how things go. Basically, what OBG said is dead on, we don't have enough data from manufacturing to really understand our capacity at this point other than the minimum we know we can put out each week. Obviously we are going to up that number each week but we want to keep the quality high as we improve our speed of assembly.

I know everyone is very eager to get their unit and I know in a few days, I'll be making another post like this but sit back, enjoy the holidays, and let us crank these out. In a short time, we should all have our units and we will all be happy that VXL took the time to make em right so that no one would have to return their unit for repair which ultimately would add to even more frustration. That is our main goal right now, to build quality units and secondary goal is to get them out as quickly as possible. Hope this helps.

i'm sure if you no longer want it someone else would gladly pay you off and take your place.

OK, wow. I was just joking. AND I said I'd like to know when my EVO will be here. Calm down everyone. This thread is hilarious. We have people complaining and bitching and other people defending VXL tooth and nail. Those of us waiting will wait. No I don't want to sell my spot in line, LOL.

I guess maybe I don't post enough here for people to get I'm mostly joking.

Edit: This was written before SM's post. Please re-read my post. I never said SM wasn't updating us. I appreciate the update, although it doesn't tell us (me) much. And sorry, SM, OBG, etc. ... I really don't feel bad about asking my question in THIS forum. I am a bit confused as to why SM pointed out the work going into this endeavor while quoting my post. I NEVER questioned the dedication and determination of these guys. They built something revolutionary and are learning how to run a company. I KNOW all of that. I really hope my post didn't imply otherwise, but again, I'm confused there. I was simply trying to get a better picture as to when my new unit will arrive.

But guys, I won't post again here until mine arrives.

Yea, under a minute of typing is gonna bring down the whole VXH infrastructure.

UNLIKE x infinity!!

This is the antcipation thread, right?

The CEO is on the assembly line. The requests are for "Where is MY SPECIFIC EVO / How many shipped, how many on the line, how many IGG contributions, who goes first, in what order, international, Canada etc.. etc.."

Lets get real guys. SM has been doing quick updates, and now what do we want? What does everyone always want?

MOAR!

I don't know what goes on behind closed doors at VXL, but I do know that asking someone for real time updates on inventory management for a newly launched product is not "20 seconds of typing"

How do I know? Because I field these types of requests all the time, and those requesting them always thinks I can do it in 30 seconds. I could do it in 30 seconds, if I didn't care about the data or facts. If you want real information with real valuable details, that takes time.

If you disagree, that's cool too.
Many probably do, but most will not say anything for fear of being trampled under the thundering hooves of the VXH superfans.

Again with the superfans bullshit? I thought this FC community was beyond name calling? I just happen to work in an industry that relies heavily on supply chain and manufacturing. So I know both sides of the coin.

I am constantly asked for updates on everything I do, regardless of when I gave my last update. But I also have no Evo!

Indeed, seems a lot of people don't get what crowdsourcing is. Good explanation

Here is mine. Crowdsourcing is like giving money to a hooker and asking her to get you some beer. There is a high likelyhood you will never see your money, the hooker or any beer.. why? BECAUSE YOU GAVE MONEY TO A HOOKER.

But once in a while, that hooker brings back some excellent microbrew.

Here is a perspective for some. SM et al have 5 people to do this. I have 15 people just in my group alone, and none of us ever have to worry about legal, HR, supply chain etc... and we do 60 hours per week on salary.

Typical process improvements in my industry can take years for bigger projects. Improving a manufacturing process costs hundreds of thousands of dollars just to research and get meaningful metrics on.

I'm also an Early Bird Bent Neck. I think it must be the case that Swagger ran out and is cranking out more Early Bird tubes - in that last pic from them, we saw all of the non-Early Bird bent necks.

In other news, I'm excited to see some straight neck action!

Not trying to argue or cause a chaos...too much of that going on already. But, I still stand by what I said. I didn't have a broken Cloud, nor did I pay for a + upgrade, and AFAIK, there are still users out there without Clouds because their units died. I am not trying to insult VXL or anything, I wouldn't expect all of this to go perfectly at all, especially given their small team.

All I am saying, is that I feel bad for those with broken Clouds waiting for their IGG Evos, while I'm not in that boat at all. There are still people out there waiting, with broken units, correct? If not, I rest my case. I still wish others who have no Cloud at all, or reasonable means to medicate, would have received their units before myself, but it happened how it did.

Whenever my replacement Evo arrives for my broken +, will I need to register for warranty again for the new serial number?

Does the warranty clock start over considering it is a new version?

This gets confusing real fast because I also paid for an extended warranty with the + when my ticker died.

Anyone else here in this same exact situation?

I didn't register my +, but I had registered the ticker that I traded in for the + when the ticker broke and I was offered the +, plus an extended warranty on top of my remaining warranty for a little extra $.

I may be asking a lot here..?

I think I just confused myself even more looking at my thoughts in front of me.
