Not approved for posting in classifieds

Why is this and how do I go about becoming approved? I didn't see anything in the classifieds rules post. I've been lurking around here for a long time (7ish years maybe) and vapeing almost as long, but don't really post much/at all on this account. Thanks!

I think it has to do with number of posts, likes, etc. There are rules to that as well I believe.

Copied from the classifieds rules post:

"Likes" requirement added to classifieds promotion.
  • You must be an actively contributing member with at least 60 days membership, 50 posts, and 25 "likes" to sell in the Classifieds

I think it's weird but w/e, especially since it was originally 50 posts and 60 days membership... I had sold a few items a year ago, and when I came back about 2 months ago to sell more stuff they added this 25 likes rule and I had to go get them, even though I've sold before lol :(....

The forum is 6 yrs. old. The reason why we have requirements like these is to prevent people from registering just to sell, and without the qualifcations, that would happen a lot. It's a perk for active members in good standing.

6 years huh? I've been about a member for 4 or so...

The thing that bothers me is that anyone can get this required entry levels, and then scam someone.

People are dirty.

But it takes time and effort, and that's why we've raised the bar a couple of times. We've also caught some padding their post count with fluff posts and asking for likes, and we can and have changed those numbers downward if it's clear what the person is up to. We can't prevent people from being dishonest. The service is available, but it's 'buyer beware'.

Honestly when I went from like 2 likes to 25, it took a day or 2.

I would just post informational stuff, and BAM likes.

I even got likes for posting my items in classifieds, so TBH I could have gotten 25 likes just from people liking my classified posts before a mod saw them to take them down.... Of course I didn't do that though lol.

I did ask a mod, before I went for likes, if I could post since I've had good transactions, as a seller, in the past.

Someone could make a post that said 'everybody here sucks' and it would still get 10 likes.

Some of us old timers made thousands of posts in the old software, which had no 'like button', so there were some members who were formerly active who returned and had to wait until their 'likes total' was up to par. It wasn't a problem for those remaining active when we went to xenforo, since the required # of likes was low, initially.

Random O.T. stony moment-- When I read the thread title I couldn't help think of the man with the sign on the sidewalk in the Michael Douglas movie "Falling Down" shouting something about not being "economically viable".

No post count padding for Classifieds privileges
It does seem to take forever to be able to post though. Coming from someone waiting on post count. I don't exactly want to make a bunch of random comments and post, yet that is what I must do.

I understand the rule, just think it sucks while I am waiting through it! Lol.

Ahh well now that I have vented, at least I understand what's going on better now.

So rather than really contribute something worthwhile to the FC community, you're just going to post random shit so you can sell your shit?

@Higher than a Pterodactyl you just admitted to post count padding which is against the rules. You still have another month to become eligible for Classified privileges, so please take your time and refrain from serial posting to pad your post count. Warning point issued.
