This is the same type of ht in a crappy pic, but you can see the mouthpiece.

It's a shame the pic is like a cameraphone pic from the 90's, because that is an EPIC piece!

Here, I ripped the pics right out of that website lol

Getting Lost
So i've recently acquired a Cloud+, and am now keenly aware of the minor annoyance of the shut off timer.
I understand it's efficient to shut it off, since medicated users often forget about turning their unit off. But too often do I have extended sessions and find myself flipping the switch several times a day on my Cloud. Users on the forum have resorted to using devices to automatically power cycle their units, isn't this a bit extreme?

What if the Evo could have a new firmware, where the normal 1 hour auto shut off timer applies, but after the initial 30 minutes, the unit becomes responsive to either heater demands from an inhalation and/or adjustments to the temperature knob. This would then trigger a "reset" of the auto off feature, back to one hour.

Thus, users that only use the unit a few times and forget about it still have the benefit of the autoshut off, and those of us who have longer sessions don't suffer the 1st world problem of power cycling our Evo's as often. I feel this should be possible, given that there seems to be some sort of embedded computer system within the unit.

Just a thought

I haven't used a cloud yet but I could imagine a quick off/on flick of the switch when you think of it mid session would have you running just fine. Maybe do it each time you take an ELB out to empty.

I fell asleep with my Cloud on so thank goodness for the timer. Few hours when I woke up later the unit was ice cold and blinking red/green still. I dont find it annoying but helpful since I zone out of this world after using the EVO. Its kind of a way to say, welcome back its been 40-60 minutes wake up. lol

We will be running a cyber Monday sale on HydraTubes starting midnight tonight. All in stock tubes will be $75 off. These tubes may or may not have the HydraTube 2.0 splash guard on the dewar joint as we are going to be moving all the previous inventory that we've had since last year. If you've been looking to add to your glass collection, tomorrow should be an epic day.

I usually notice my EVO flashing green and red after about half an hour of sitting idle. Not sure if that is normal but it really isn't a big deal just to flick the power switch. The Evo heats up so fast anyways I never have much of an issue.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

OK It is 12:01am PST right now and I am ready to buy some glass. Where is the discount?

Edit: This is quite the predicament. I have to work tomorrow and can't just wait up but I am afraid I will miss out on the one I want which is the Hydraline. Hrmmm

Try just checking out with the tube you'd like...go as far as possible without paying, and see if the discount is automatically applied. If that doesn't work, a support ticket would be your best bet IMO.

Wouldn't this take extra HW? Seems to me there is nothing that can be 'aware' of heater demands other than the via temperature knob... Now, causing the timer to reset if any change is made should/could be doable, but then, if your hand is there, why not restart with the power switch?

Personally, I think the shut off is a nice thing to have. Changing the way it works may equate to over-engineering...?

You should see the discounts on all the tubes with a discount in the title. We took $75 off each HydraTube or roughly 30% if you are rounding up/down. This link should take you there, Happy Cyber Monday!

I agree it would be nice, but the more features you have, the more there is, potentially, to go wrong. I'm so happy with the quick EVO heating time, compared to the Cloud, that instant gratification just isn't an issue for me. I'm still surprised, every time, at how fast I get the green light.

 I vote to not rock the boat. If this design is reliable, I say leave it alone for the time being. VXL can play around with new designs/features, but let's leave changes in production models alone until the testing becomes successful long term.

Can we discuss hash for a moment? I had a little around and I tried it this weekend, but I am not really sure if I am approaching it properly with the EVO.

I used both a mini ELB (still getting that perfected) and a standard ELB to work it, proke off a bit, flattened it out for the first try and did not really feel like I got good vapor. Some on exhale, but that was light.

The second try I broke it up as best I could, dropped it in and tried again. Again, not the best vapor...

Both attempts were with higher heat (2 and 3 o'clock respectively), and after each when dumping out the bowl, the material was very fine and warm. When I say fine, if I rubbed it between my fingers it became a very fine powder.

I was not sure on either attempt if I got decent vapor, and the material definitely heated, so I abandoned the scientific method of seeing what happened for a while and upon each dump, I ate the product :) It totally did the trick, but I am not sure if I was able to actually vape it. I definitely was affected, but that could be from eating nicely heated hash...

SO am I barking up the right tree? Am I missing something? DO you think I'd have been affected without the last step of "fuck it, I'm gonna eat it..."?

What type of hash is it? Consistency? What temps are you using? Hash generally wants it a bit warmer, also try and have some extra filler material so the hot air doesn't just go around your hash following the path of least resistance. Surface area is usually minimal with hashes so our normal vape techniques don't penetrate it as well as we would want.

I wish I could answer what type of hash... It was given to me by a friend returning from a visit to a medical state to our not-so-progressive home state... The consistency is pretty hard, but malleable in my fingers. I can flatten it but it is not too sticky.

If this were going in a pipe or bong, my approach would be to put it on a bed of herbs or ash, flatten it out and get a flame to ~1/16" from it, draw slow to get it smoking... But those days are in the past!

The temp I tried was up to 3 o'clock, but I did not think to try filler material. I will happily experiment with that this evening and forgo to urge to eat.

Thx for the tips.

Hash like that may take a bit of heating before it's ready to give off vapor. I've had hash that sounds similar and it took a few long draws to get it going. Thin it out as much as possible or break it up into small bits and give it another go on high temp with several long draws.

It may also be possible that you just need to add more to your ELB because the powdery resultant you mention sounds typical of vaped hash. So maybe you're getting it all but you just need to add a bit more to get the visible Clouds you're expecting.
