I posted a while back that my black rod was not working. Just the slight misty hits. After cleaning up the Hercules one day and being jealous at others success with the black rod, I followed Mud's procedures and BAM! Clouds. So in a delighted frenzy I kept going and the 650 that came with the Hercules died quick. After a full charge it went quick again. So I picked up an Ultrafire 650/3000 mAh and it runs damn near as good as the white rod. So if there is anyone out there with a dormant black rod, maybe try MUD's procedure stacked with a new cell, you might get what you need. My white rod hasn't been used since. And also, my black had the slight curve to it too so if that was holding anyone back from trying, I can attest to them (well at least mine) being ok.

BTW I would stick to Caligula's reference to batteries. I only bought the Ultrafire because it was available at batteries plus and I didn't want to wait for shipping. But it carries a year warranty so meh.

On a side note testers are coming. Easier then mm's. Just hook up your Herc or cart or battery and test away.

Made for our units.

No we did not design this. <- that's for the one guy who's gonna go around and claim we claimed it.

This is as accurate as a 4 point probe?

Looks like a necessary tool for the Hercules kit.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

It's not as accurate but it will tell you if it's working or not.

The way the Hercs designed is if it's assembled correctly then it's gonna show you the correct resistance within 99% accuracy.

If it's not assembled correctly then it will show you a resistance that's a lot different.

Now in conjunction with the new white rod that's coming out issues are reduced and battery life is increased because instead of the 45 watts we offered in the original Herc this is dropped to 30 watts.

People just don't need the extra watts it's overkill. This reduces heat levels, stress levels on the Herc, the Persei, faster cool downs and better taste.

Happy Thanks giving all.

Nice! New white rods you say, that will run a bit cooler? Can't wait for this combined with the titanium coils. Happy thanksgiving

Agreed. I'm willing to bet this new rod and the Ti coils will solve the few remaining little issues I have with the Herc.... almost.

@THC SCIENTIFIC still waiting on word about a redesigned bottom PTFE connector. :) Itd be nice not to have to double check resistance every time I unscrew the cart from the top.

That's in production as well. It's coming brotha. Since we own our own manufacturing we can get things turned around pretty quick.

I am sending ataxian a beta Herc SR 74 production piece to test out. But the new PTFE insulators are another reason why we are moving into the newer rods. So anyone upgrading them will need to upgrade the new white rod.

Most likely we will do an package upgrade for White Rod, AAF, bottom adapter.

But to make sure this is gonna work we are most likely gonna ask people to turn in their older white rods to get a discount on the upgrade kit.

As I promised AAF washer will free and we won't charge for it inside the kit.

If you only want the AAF washer then the original deal was you pay for the shipping.

Extra parts for the Hercules also being manufactured so that we can have people purchasing spare parts and have no more down time.

The worse part is the Hercules needs to get a price increase.

Seems like every time G posts, he reveals something about some new product he has in the works. Its so hard to keep up with all of the awesome things coming. Like many have said already, "Just take my money!"

I got my CORE and BENDER the other day. With the great instructions sent to me by Slingin Paint, Im having a great time. My new NibblerXL is on its way and this one is going to be babied sooooo much. I am not putting myself through that again.

One last thing, G, you have a great employee named Naomi. She has been super quick and responsive to every question I've had and has gone out of her way to make everything as smooth as possible.

Thanks W9Tech!!!!

Ill be buying another Herc ASAP. G, when did you say theyd be back in stock?

I'm really looking forward to this new white rod. I haven't bought a black rod because I felt it wasn't powerful enough. This sounds like good middle ground... Im just hoping theres a way to send in the 45w white rod AFTER I get the new revised unit?

Also IIRC you said something about getting to try out the new Ti coils once they were nearing production, while you were down here in SD helping out Atomsk and myself (thanks again BTW). Is that still a possibility?

The Hercules Sr74 ataxian is gonna test out won't have the Ti Coils.

The Ti coils are going straight into production as there is nothing to test out. We are just replacing one type of wire with another and shortening the coils.

As for testing them out I'm sorry but I won't be able to keep that promise but I can throw in an extra 2 pcs when you and atomsk order them to compensate for the change in my promise.

@THC SCIENTIFIC Oh no worries. I actually removed that because I didn't want to sound pushy or anything. Thank you for the generous offer BTW! Is there an ETA on the coils?

Hey boss,

Any word on if the early adopters will be able to pre-order the upgrade kits at a discount?

Thanks.

Terps Up, Temps Down
Recently, I was showing my friend how to get his new SR-71 up and running and he had shatter to work with. Up until helping him out, I had only used waxes/crumbles in my own Herc. The observation I made? It's MUCH easier to load and use a Herc with shatter than it is crumble. The priming is effortless as a few taps of the button allows the shatter to melt into the coil. The result is instantaneous clouds that are smooth as silk due to the shorter amount of heat up time required to start vaping your oil.

Also, a heads up to anyone with an Iris or Core. I highly suggest you try running the white rod at 5.8v at least once. In essence, it basically converts the white rod into a black rod. As @Mynameismud mentioned many times, the clouds are still Herculean but the taste is unparalleled. No burning of your oil whatsoever, so it is also a great solution for those who have a tendency to go heavy on the button.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Unless you're in Canada. You ate your turkey early. That's a bad Canada! Bad, bad Canada! Your father is going to hear about this when he gets home. :p

Hey guys, look what I found:

Ohm_Meter_1_medium.jpg

On sale for $18.75 with free shipping.

Has 510 connectors but you can get an adapter for the size the herc uses for a few bucks! I just ordered one!

Oh I know you can definitely get a DMM cheaper, but this takes the guesswork out of it for those who arent so comfortable with electronics. I have a DMM but holding the probes and the herc just right and making solid connections versus just screwing it on there is enough to justify 20 bucks for me. lol

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

G, I've been using some blond crumble that is very difficult to melt (and very potent, 87-93% THC). With my SR71 (white rod) and Iris I've found that it vapes best at 35W and up. Since I saw your post I have dialed my Iris to 6.5v which corresponds to 30W with the original white rod. I'll see how it works out over the next couple of days. But I am a bit worried that it might not work as well for my needs. If I do need the extra power of the original white rod I may opt out of the Hercules upgrade (to avoid the rod trade-in).

Anyway, while you're iterating the heater rod design would it be possible to put a lip on the tungsten ring so that when the rod is inserted into the upper chamber it automatically stops at the perfect position? This would make assembly easier and help prevent rod slippage causing shorts.

Recently, I was showing my friend how to get his new SR-71 up and running and he had shatter to work with. Up until helping him out, I had only used waxes/crumbles in my own Herc. I too have found that shatters (and CO2 oils) are easier to load in the Herc. These high potency crumbles are driving me crazy! (and not just in a good way :)).

I agree that people should try the power level of a black rod with their white rod if they have the capability. 5.8v on a white rod (1.4 ohm) corresponds to 24W. For the black rod (0.8 ohm) to run at 24W it would need 4.38v from the battery. You would get this power momemtarily from a freshly charged battery. When the battery on the black rod droops to 3.7v the power drops to 17W. To emulate this with the original white rod you would have to set your Iris/Core voltage to 4.9v. So I would encourage people to try a range of voltages from 4.9-5.7v to get a better feeling how a black rod will perform.

I am so excited for all this new ish! Not sure about the rod upgrade yet tho. When I get my black rod back from testing I may be able to make a decision, but I'm thinking I'll just buy the new upgrade kit outright. Having more options in my quiver always keeps my stoke high.
