I have zero experience with vaporizing, so I would appreciate some help in choosing - i.e. what other people choose and why.

While the guy is right its preference; I can tell you what seems to be most peoples preference. PVHE stems and GonG are the most popular. Some love the other options, others dont like them; but overall PVHE are the most popular and alot of people agree they give the best balance between free flowing and resistance (better hits)

EDIT: And for glass alot of people like pinnacle hydrotube or I saw this today:

ALOT more here:

For the solo stick to smaller pieces IMO; more flavor and just as smooth. I really like my pinnacle hydrotube BTW

here you go ;
http://www.amazon.com/Tenergy-Li-Ion-2200mAh-Rechargeable-Battery/dp/B002Y2LJW0

you may have to exchange the tabs on the ends , so keep the old
battery on hand , just in case .

As I reported earlier, I've done this but it's not that straight forward.

You have to either swap the output cable over, or buy a new one to solder onto the pack as I did (no connector supplied). Be careful here, the polarity in Solo is backwards from 'industry standard', connectors you buy will need to be reversed (or the colors ignored).

Secondly, since the protection PCB is on the end not side the whole pack it too big to fit in the Solo unless you carefully strip most of the jackets off. It does work, but it's definitely not 'plug and play'.

Thx OF for clarification...i watched an instructional video that made the process seem pretty straightforward. I am pretty handy, but I don't want to fry my Solo. I might just wait on Centizen's.

I had good results after some fiddling, and was also able to replace the two bad cells in the old pack and get it back in service, but both take some careful soldering iron work on 'hot' wiring (and in building up the packs there's no protection PCB to save things, if the sun comes up on what you're working on.....or lightning strikes as it can, you're basically screwed. Not a job if you're not confident of your skills with a hot iron......

I agree, 'plug and play' is the call for most. If I can find a protection board (the first two I tried didn't work???), I hope to be able to build packs 'from the ground up', but that's a ways off.

Good luck.

To me at least, the recent quick heat up time reported seems unique {with the exception of vapeNStone's M105 below} to the M1C1 (and in some cases reported accompanied also by lower perceived temps/ligher ABV),

:suspicious:

Yes! But I'm only a just a few minutes ahead.:smug:

This can work..... Next week you post the winning Lotto numbers as they're picked, we'll have Ataxian standing by in the 7-11 parking lot with his cell phone.....

No, wait, he might get distracted. Better send BOG to keep an eye on him.

Who should we send to keep an eye on BOG? This isn't easy......

The more I think about this the more I think we need a better plan.

I've tried to follow the M1C1 discussion but I admit I'm a bit confused. What is the concern over the fast speed-up time? Is it that the unit is not actually heating up to the desired temperatures but instead registering faulty readings? Or is the concern that the fast heat-up time will fry the unit or the battery? If the Solo seems to be producing good vapor and browning the material, is everything hunky dory?

yes I had an m1c1 and it was heating up faster the problem with that is that while it does produce vapor I felt that the abv wasnt getting dark brown like some people report on here. After that you kinda start second guessing yourself like "maybe its not getting hot enough" or "why didnt I see any vapor on level 3"
at that point I was like I just wanna get a new one to see if It was my vape thats the problem or not.

So what happened? Did you get a new one, and did you notice any difference?

I hear what you're saying: it's easy to psych yourself out, and difficult to tell, without being able to compare, how a normal Solo functions. Long story short: I just bought a Solo and, although the vendor told me it wouldn't be an M1C1, it is. (Honest mistake on their part.) They're being great about it and I can return it if I want; but I don't know if I want! I haven't used it yet, but I'll probably keep it and hope for happy trails. The proof is in the pudding.

The world isn't ready for the 1-minute vape, it smacks of black magic and frightens people because they can't comprehend it.

I saw this same thing happen when electric light bulbs were introduced.

I agree, lots of anxiety too and that adds more confusion. I think it's safe to say you can find about any sort of answers you want. Just today we got another report that the 'defective' unit is doing much better after some experience and perhaps a herb change. We've had 'heats up too fast' claims that seemed normal when checked with a watch (say 90 seconds to step 7 with no stem, give or take subject to battery charge?) and all sorts of comparisons of ABV to other units. There may have been some flat out 'this thing don't work' problems fixed by replacement but I don't recall them.

I too tend to be a fan of 'hunky dory logic' as you suggest. If this (or any other vape) is delivering the goods what does it matter what the next fellow is getting with his? It's just a tool, the goal is in what it produces as I see it.

Perhaps it's a net.thing? Lots of reasonable factors (including fears) get tangled up with the normal variations in our tastes, needs, herb quality, experience, time constraints, ready money and so on. The details get lost in the shuffle. I'm unlikely to share your conclusions on politics, work, auto or spouse....nor expect you to agree with me. I see no reason when it comes down to cases where Solo should be different. In the end the call is yours alone.

I'm not sure about you, but IMO we're truly blessed with such a bountiful market filled with choices, with more keen stuff in the wings to vie for our dollars. Neat, that.

This is a great point, and worth celebrating this Thanksgiving week. I'm old enough to remember growing up in a culture where you bought what the local store sold, whether it was a dishwasher, a stereo, or a car. In the internet age, it's so easy to take for granted that we can research reviews on *everything.* This forum offers a fantastic education and superb advice. But, maybe, sometimes, there's such a thing as too much information. Here's hoping that my Solo has a good run. And here's to celebrating a happy Thanksgiving!

Following the discussion in my last thread, I will soon get a Solo(my first vaporizer) - and i'm looking to get some accessories.
Use it first, and then decide if you need anything. The Solo works great out of the box, it does not require any accessories. I also recommend reading up on the this thread, all of your questions are answered here over and over again.

I drill them all the time. Its an easy deal, I use a round ball diamond tip dremal bit. To turbo the stem you should use a long skinny bit. It's what i found to be easiest.

It can be done but with great care. I did six slots on the end of my bent stem with a diamond wheel on a dremel. Works better than stock but not as good as a PVHES. I saw a post a ways back where someone used a dremel to cut the grooves down the side as well. It looked great but they are braver than me. I tried the end grooves on my straight one and broke a chip out. I ended up grinding it down to make a shorty. Worked out in the end. You probably know this but make sure you wear safety glasses and a mask if you try it. That piece flew past my head when it broke. I was wearing mine but it still might have cut.

Round ball tip would indeed work better. I think mine broke because the wheel turned sideways. Great idea.
