Arizer Solo

If you read my posts I have video proof we are not making these faults up and that some of the M1C1 models "heat" up too quickly...

I have had enough Solos to recognise which are not performing correctly.

It was never said it was all M1C1s but they definitely seem to be more temperamental than most other models.

Telling people blindly that they have no problems with their unit won't help matters. If they have no reference point then they will be thinking that a Solo that heats up in 30 secs and produces wispy vapour is normal?!

I don't think we should assume that all units coming out of Arizer are fault free...

i never claimed that there are no faulty units - i just said that serial numbers don't tell you anything about how you're chances are that the unit is faulty or not ;)

and a while back people WERE looking for 107 models because they didn't want to get m1a1 models...

do you really think this thread is representative as to the amount of solos sold world wide? - i don't ;)

also - is there any proof that arizer changed something in the production of the solo besides the letters in the serial number?

to me it seems like a combination of suggestion and confusion tbh :) just check whether the unit works or not - that's what matters right?

Definitely not, but if there are (as it seems) a fair few faulty units showing up in this small population of Solo users here on FC, if you scale that up to the units sold worldwide then that could amount to a fair few faulty ones IMO.

Couldn't agree more.

Anyway it's SOLO TIME! :peace: :smug:

Good points in places, but IMO not all.

The only provable fact here, I think, is all the chatter has made guys fear buying "Model M1C1s" even though we're told no such model really exists. We're told this is simply a production number, there is no engineered change in play.

In counter to you I see no reason to assume new units are any more fault prone than others?

Consider also that we've had a number of guys change their minds and report expected performance in terms of heat up time and ABV condition after all? I'm thinking there's a lot of new guys with new expectations in the mix? We may be looking at a series of 'statistics of small groups' (one guy each time)?

Not that problems can't happen, but that they're not routine and are easily resolved if you've bought through approved vendors with solid histories of promptly fixing problems. In general, PV an PIU customers report excellent Customer Service (I could add my positive experiences here, and have posted of them when they happened for the most part, so no need to repeat them). Guys who buy from lower cost sources like Ebay or Massdrop can find themselves on their own.

Perhaps the take away message here is something like 'you really don't have a choice what serial number you get, but if you buy from 'the right' dealer any problem you might have will be quickly and effectively corrected'?

also - is there any proof that arizer changed something in the production of the solo besides the letters in the serial number?

Exactly so.

I think it's too bad if a guy who would otherwise enjoy his Solo like so many of us do misses out because of some random advice from guys off the net who aren't even using their real names?

Come on in guys, the water's fine! If you get a dud from a stand up guy, he'll make it right. No need to fear......or miss out on the Solo.

It seems possible (not positive) that units recently issued with lot #s M1C1 may have had a minor internal program change performed by Arizer before shipment. For whatever reason they would do this I can't guess, nor do I know that this was done at all. Only speculation. To me at least, the recent quick heat up time reported seems unique {with the exception of vapeNStone's M105 below} to the M1C1 (and in some cases reported accompanied also by lower perceived temps/ligher ABV), as I don't recall it ever being reported here on FC relating to any other lot #. I personally think that quicker heat up times would be a plus, so long as everything else works to usual high standards. We do know that Arizer has made some changes along the way, though they haven't really been publicly open or informative about it. We generally make these discoveries for ourselves and share, and are most often pleased with the resulting performance. I am inclined to think that Arizer is aware of M1C1 lot # unit concerns and will investigate exhaustively, and if warranted, will make the necessary adjustments. Arizer has successfully managed to stay ahead of the curve and continues to top the charts. Just chiming in with my 2 cents for the morning. Love my Solo!

Does anyone have any experience with massdrop? I have been lusting after the Solo for so long, been waiting until I can afford to get it on PIU. However, it just dropped for $119. I'm worried about how long it will take to ship and what my recourse would be if I receive a faulty unit.

Thanks for the report, glad you've 'hit the groove'.

IMO it's not uncommon for this to take a while, it happens with other vapes for some too I think. Making friends can be an interactive thing, not always on schedule?

Good on ya, I advise you experiment with technique as you go on, follow results you like. Evolution of a short.

I took part of the most recent massdrop for the solo. I paid September 29th and received my solo on November 4th so it took over a month. I had initial concerns about the performance of the solo I recieved and massdrop replied a week after I emailed them saying they could do a warranty but not in silver, the color I had ordered. Ultimately I would have preferred to go through Puffitup or Planetvape regardeless of the higher price as it is VERY well known they stand behind their customers.

so i decided to go with the solo for the first session of the day... feeling really nice now :)

once you're familiar with the solo it's just so easy to hit that sweet spot dosage wise... personally, i hate getting too high too fast - not a fan of anxiety or the burned out feeling that come with an overly large dosage!

one of the reasons why the cloud isn't really my thing ;) call me crazy but i like the solo better than the cloud :)

I thought I read a while back about a replacement battery that was simple and cheap for the solo...under $25. Any suggestions? I can't find it using search.

What's your routine like?
Do you just take a couple hits and stop?
Or maybe you pack a Shorty bowl to start the day??
Just curious because one bowl gets me pretty medicated.
And when I start a bowl I prefer to finish it.

Hoof hearted I love your avatar.

Thanks! It's an @mvapes / @ogcook collaboration.

i'm the same - when it's on i have to finish it :D

today i started with half a regular stem... i do have a shorty too, but that's the turbo-version and i prefer my regular gong (non pvhe) over it...

but this also depends a lot on the strain i decide upon and my tolerance (which is pretty high atm) some months ago i was using no more than one bowl per day - in the last weeks it's more like an average of 10 bowls per day :D

Toronto Vaporizer has Solo batteries for $45 along with other Solo accessories. I have heard that some are finding other types of batteries that will fit at lower prices.

Hello all, lots of great info here. New to vaping, haven't tried the favored herb yet but have been testing with green tea and Yerba Mate. I have a couple thoughts to share.

I timed my M1C1 Solo, and it takes 35 seconds to get from level 1 to level 2. From there it reaches the other levels rapidly in sequence, hitting 7 at almost exactly the 1-minute mark, give or take 5 seconds. This seems normal to me since the temperature gap between settings 1 and 2 is pretty large, while the rest are only 5 degrees apart.

I must disagree with those who suggest that faster heat-up time necessarily means a lower max temp. Heat-up time is affected by the efficiency of the unit, and something as simple as using a different kind of solder or heavier wires can allow the unit to reach full temp in less time. Don't freak out because your new solo kicks the crap out of the old one! :)

Also, if the Arizer uses thermal paste on the thermistor or the heating element, there may be a break-in period as some have suggested. Depending on the type of thermal paste, it can take up to dozens of heating-cooling cycles before it fully cures.

Great forum, have already learned much and looking forward to many happy hours in the exciting world of vaping!

Following the discussion in my last thread, I will soon get a Solo(my first vaporizer) - and i'm looking to get some accessories.

Stem:
Should I prefer the PVHES or Ed's TNT stem?
Is there a difference between the different woods for Ed's stems, or is it just aesthetics?

Glass adapter:
Should I prefer the original GonG or the PVHEGonG?
Are there other options(from different vendors)?

Glass:
I saw this thread:
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/cheap-high-quality-bubbler.5255/page-103#post-495751
But there is just too much to choose from :-)
Is there any go-to glass that is already been used and can be recommended by number of users here? I would love to pay <$50 if there is anything decent(though I can go a bit higher if it's really worth it).
I'm living in Thailand, so seller from Asia will be best.

Other:
-I want to pick up some extra screens. Which ones should I get?
-Is the "Solo High Temp Silicone O-Rings" necessary, and is there alternative(as it seems to be out of stock)?
-Is there anything I can get that would make it possible to use with hash only?

Thanks and I hope it's not too much :-)
