while at it, What is the black rod for that I added to my order? Should i have gotten a blue rod instead?
I know that each time I get newer vape stuff, I think its the best ever. But the Herc SR71 is the absolute best concentrate vape I have ever used.

The Blue Rod is for Herb, I'm not sure what volt you should be running it. Be very careful with where you keep your rods, especially if you're using the factory box for holding it all, my Blue Rod fell out of its housing and hasn't been seen since.
The Black Rod is EO & maybe HoneyBud at 3.7v. You should have gotten a Blue Rod if you want to experiment with Hercules as an herb device, though not many find it great for herb yet.

i haven't been able to get more than thin wispy hit with the black rod at 3.7v. I thought it must need more power.

AAF = Adjustable Air Flow Washer. It's intended to fine tune airflow in any Hercules unit. If airflow is your issue, you should be happy. If not, you're behind me in line.
Wait.. you get wisps?! LUCKY! Joking aside, yes it is intended for 3.7v but it's hit or miss so far. Some people (@Mynameismud, @Vapoholic420) have had tremendous success with it, so you might ask them about technique. I have yet to see what they're talking about, but I'm dying to.

The glass has a thicker wall than our standard bottles made here in the USA?
So I drilled a hole in the lid and inserted the vacuum fitting and this is my purge chamber.
(Teflon tape to make a seal)
The one I want is $140 however I was being a cheap ass.
I made at least 12 grams of SHATTER with this set up.
Now our buddy "OF" start's with SAFETY CONCERN'S!
My plan is to increase vacuum pressure and decrease heat.
Will the glass jar handle the increased pressure?
Dammit "OF" your making me be careful!
OK's It looks like I will buy the proper chamber after all!

Blue rod is 3.7V for herbs. I have one, and its just no good. Might be better with an Iris but i cant say for sure. It has since been discontinued at least for the persei i believe.
Black rod works okay with just herbs but its not great. I personally love it for oils, of all kinds including shatter. I load it a little differently then with the white rod...
for the black rod i use a 30%coil. I load about .2-3 directly above the rod, replace cap and mouthpiece. Hold button and puff for 5-10 seconds. Then load another .2-.3 directly on the rod again, replace the cap and mouthpiece. Hold the button for 5-10 seconds while puffing like a cigar, immediately release the button when i start seeing thicker vapor and then immediately release and repress the button and go. No need to feather just hold the button down and go.
Once its loaded i get a few days of use out of it. From a cold start i do the puff like a cigar and then go but takin back to back hits its not necessary.
If your having issues with the black rod still after trying that pm me and i can try and help...

I saved a bunch of OG FLOWERS (CALIFORNIA) to convert to SHATTER.
Triple purge is my routine however I'm using less heat and more vacuum so if I don't blow myself up we will discuss further?
This is not OSHA approved!
Come on man, thats not even close to safe! Basic glass jars are not made to hold a full vac.

I have a 2 ohm KISS CART now and i am worried i may not be using it right.
Last night i loaded it up and smoked it until I couldn't smoke anymore and i went to sleep!
right before i finished i noticed it has managed to get sticky right around the hole in the mouthpiece.
todayi was hitting it while there was tons of oil under the heater. it kept making little wisps of vapor if i pushed the button with the mouthpiece removed but i could only get good hits once in a while.
soaked the mouthpiece in some ISO for a while and then washed it off. seems to hit fine mostly now as long as i'm using it right?
whats the ideal way to keep the mouthepiece clean on this thing?

I have actually had success with a paperclip. You can take the mo apart into three pieces I find taking the centerpiece our helps eliminate crevices for the oil to hide . Also thess are layg carts .

What did you run, buds, trim, popcorn? In terms of solvent extracts, BHO should be on the tastier side.
If it didn't spark/pop slightly when you dabbed it, the tane probaby wasn't there in too significant an amount. After vac purging you can winterize with a high-proof alcohol and freeze that mixture for a couple hours, which would remove some of the plant wax / lipids, giving you a more refined product.
Sounds like it might be your starting material or quality of butane.

What does it mean when the light blinks 3 times when I press the Persei with the Hercules attached?
Tried it with 2 different sets of charged batteries but it keeps doing it with the Hercules.
Works fine with other carts though.
Edit: looking at the bottom heater, should probably clean this and then check again.. lol
Anyways, does the bottom part of the bottom heater unscrew so I can recollect the leaked parts more easily?
Tried out that K.I.S.S 2.0 cart , works great, very easy to load, decent clouds, taste ok similar to normal carts. Can't wait for the next gen!

Blinking light indicates you put the Hercules together wrong. If it was an older style top it probably would have died.
Anyway, yes the entire unit comes apart including the heater core so you can clean and reclaim.
That being said try disassembling and cleaning the unit, then reassemble properly making sure to check with a multi meter.
