High Quality CHINA glass

Well I have looked and could not find any threads on the subject, well at least not in a positif way.

So my question is pretty simple:

Is there any good high quality CHINA glass out there????????????????????????

I keep on hearing/reading the slagging off part of the argument but not often positif ones.

I mean OK they are lots of cheap knock-offs around but there must be someone out there making quality work I would have thought???

Or is it also down to poorer glass to start with??

PS: I'm not Chinese neither American, pretty neutral actually (not quite Swiss but Belgian, close enough)
Well if I am truly fair probably a little biased, as here in Europe the glass market is inundated with Asian Glass (Black leaf - Blaze, Grace Glass, Weedstar...)

This thread has links to lots of cheap quality bubblers, most of which are Chinese. I suggest going through the last 30 pages or so.

I Know that, I have read the 100 pages, but that's not the topic I want to start.

As most of the time people on that thread are saying, "the piece is OK, not great, well you get what you pay for" if you know what I mean?

I would like to see HIGH QUALITY from China, if it exists?????

You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...
Guys cmon! High quality glass from China! Do you want it hand delivered by Yao Ming? HQG from China is an oxymoron, correct? I'm just kidding of course, I back even the cheap china glass. I bought a bubbler from Ali for 20 bucks and if it had SYN or some other sticker it might be worth ten times what I paid. So maybe HQG is in the eye of the beholder as long as form and function is solid...

what do you mean by high quality? high quality craftsmenship or high quality creative work?

you can find china glass with clean glass/welds no problem (f.e. look at the new blaze line from black leaf) but to actually find innovation or artistic value with the chinese glass is pretty much impossible afaik...

It would surprise me. There will be some pretty big generalizations ahead, just bare with me.

China seems to be the country you go to when you need something made cheap. I know (as mentioned above) black leaf's warehouse/production is based in China.

Thing is with glass, you're often (mostly) paying for a name or particular style. What I'd normally associate high quality glass with usually also comes with a hefty price tag. Not that price dictates quality, but those people who get their name out either have a new take on an old perc, or have some specialty that really appeals to people, and demand goes up. Glass seems to be one of the few remaining fields that really touts 'produced in XXX country' when marketing. When given the choice, most prefer to buy domestic.

Black leaf understands that they are not putting out THE BEST glass, and aren't likely to be compared to your Mobius, DR, Beer Glass, etc etc. But they make reasonably priced glass available to people who don't necessarily need 'high quality' glass - they just need a cheap pipe that works well.

Local, or "high end" blowers actually strive to be the best in their field, and because they are trying to be innovative, and are paying high costs for labor and materials (probably), the price tag also has to be higher.

There is GOOD quality glass coming out of China. But high quality, probably not. Their country does not have the same user base of MJ as other countries, so there's not much drive for locals to become experts in the field for water pipes.

Its funny though how in the states there seem to be over 60 brands of glass, when as in Europe, a part from Black Leaf/Haze who have almost complete monopole there does not seem to be much else. Perhaps its time for one or two of those good american glass blowers to come over here to set up a business, as they appear to be a niche for quality and innovation????

Grasscity is also very present when searching on the web, but I do not get it why people actually buy from them as their prices are way through the roof in comparaison to the Black Leaf/Haze website????

A quick comparaison

MAD!!!
