The Lotus Vaporizer

SSVUN~YAH

You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...
Your better off going through the manufacturer yourself. Screw Massdrop! You might spend a little extra, but it will save you a headache and you wont have to wait over a month to get your shit! My experience with MD consisted of an 8$ reduced price over the lowest advertised price, a month long wait after they said 13 days, terrible communication (they kept blaming the manufacturer), and then to top it off the herd of sheep loving MD people attacked me for not falling in line with their MD loving ways. No thanks on MD!

I was so excited! My black leaf inline bubbler was supposed to come in the mail Sunday according to Canadian shipment information. Obviously not happening here in the US and then it was supposed to come today, but I forgot about veterans day. :( Oh well, I'll just have to use the regular stem which I love so much anyway.

Call me psychic, but I'm guessing you're not a big fan of Massdrop then ;) I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of discount is offered this time, hopefully more than $8. I've had my eye on one of these for a while....

Sure wish I'd joined earlier. 24 hours later and I've decided that the Lotus is my favorite overall portable vape. There are other vapes that may excel in areas the Lotus lacks (like stealth), but if I had to choose only one vaporizer to have for the rest of my life, it would be the Lotus.
My friend bought a Lotus at least a month ago, and has not used the Underdog once since then.. I think that says a lot.. I really like the Lotus.. Heat up(/cool down) is not too long.. and it hits great IMO.. Really good flavor too IMO.. I really like that it works w/ or w/o glass.. It's also very portable, and it's a little nostalgic using a flame.. No batteries, No cords.. Sweet vape.

Same here, I voted for the Lotus right when it popped up.. It seems like it was a while ago.. I hope the discount will be significant after all this time.

Damn you @Meghan!!! :cuss::rant:

With a statement like your last sentence, I know have to go roll loose change to begin funding for a Lotus.
I must mention that I was not looking for a portable, flame based vape prior to reading your comment.

LOL. Sorry! (You'll thank me later, though, I think!)

The fact that the Lotus doesn't depend on batteries or electricity is a big reason that I say it would be my one and only. I use my Solo and my Pinnacle Pro a lot, but I'm constantly worrying about battery life. Not necessarily because they generally die mid-session (although my Solo's battery life has definitely declined since I got it), but because if I don't remember to stick them back on their chargers when they're not in use, I'm screwed when I need them next. The fact that the Lotus produces tastier, thicker vapor than any of my other portables and will never be unavailable when I need it is absolutely huge for me. It's easier to use than my previous flame-based portable, the bronze Sherlock VaporGenie (which is also very nice), and doesn't require a Bic-style lighter, which I appreciate a lot. It's efficient. Yes, there is a slight learning curve (I don't agree that it's super difficult to combust in the Lotus, though it's easy to avoid it...I have come close because I am trying to get the thickest vapor possible), but I found the learning curve for the Firewood and the VG to be more cumbersome for sure.

Prior to the Lotus, I rarely vaped flowers through water. For whatever reason, the Solo has only worked well for me with the Pinnacle WT, but never inverted in a larger bubbler. I could get hits, but actually fogging up my bubbler eluded me. And sometimes the air restriction on the Solo made it difficult to draw at all. The Pinnacle Pro is better through water, but the taste really suffers over level 2. My Underdog is great, but sort of tethered to one place...and my GonG is actually too long to effectively vaporize the whole load very much at all. So I almost never hit that through water.

But since Saturday evening, the Lotus plus the GBD Inline Bub have been my vaping tools of choice. So much fun to use. Such smooth, giant hits. I won't bother trying to use my Solo, PnP, or UD through water anymore. No point.

So yeah, long story short...I was hesitant to buy another flame-based portable because I so rarely use my VG, but I 'm 100% thrilled that I did. I'm completely amazed by how easy the Lotus is to use, how good it tastes, and how much fun I'm having with it. And I will be able to take it with me absolutely anywhere I go, even if there are no outlets. It doesn't get much better than that.

My other vapes still have their place in my arsenal (well, some of them...) If I'm super sick, it's the Solo all the way (easy to lie in bed and medicate). When I'm out of the house and looking for stealth, I'll take my Pinnacle Pro. But for at least 80% of my vaping needs, I'm pretty sure the Lotus will be the best choice.

All my days in a daze...
Love your report, @Meghan. My Lotus is on it's way and I really can't wait to give it a try.
I'm most excited I think about the idea of using a flame and having an 'old school' type experience/routine.
I've never had a flame based vaporizer.

Coincidentally my Mobius 60b Stereo Matrix bubbler is also on it's way so hopefully they arrive hand in hand :)
I'm hoping the Lotus has no probs milking that piece, but I also have it's little brother the ION Matrix if the stereo is too big.

I smoked for ten years and enjoyed the routine very much. That's definitely something I like about the Lotus. To me, going back to a flame is not a bad thing at all as long as it's easy to produce vapor instead of smoke. When vaping is a more "active" experience, I think my consumption goes down a bit because it's almost as much about performing rituals as actually getting medicated for me sometimes. It's nice to do more than just stuff some herb in a stem and inhale for the next 10 minutes.

Nice! I won't be surprised if it can handle the Stereo Matrix...like I've said, this thing puts out crazy thick vapor. Here's hoping you get your new toys soon!

I agree 100%
I also smoked over a decade and vaporized here and there and the past 5 years but it just never did it for me.
Now I'm more concerned with my health so I'm putting forth more of an effort to replace combustion with vaporization as much as possible. And one thing I did notice missing from vaping was the much practiced and beloved and just engrained routine of packing and lighting a bowl.
Like you said, a important part of the whole thing is the ritual.

I will definitely post back my experiences and how I am doing with the learning curve etc.

Yeah, thanx, god I love new cannabis related toys. :)

edit: nice bubbler @Meghan, cool design, love the angled neck.

I have both but have only started using the Vapman. I also don't have a ton of experience with other vapes other than what I have at hand (MFLB, VG, in addition to the VM and LV)

I think the VM is going to have a place in collection, but with a few caveats. The loading process is probably the biggest issue that I can come up with. It's a little more involved with the Vapman since you have to use the funnel and then carefully remove it after loading your bowl. The more sausage-like your fingers are, the more difficult you'll find it. Also, loading on the go is much more difficult and less stealthy. It's just a matter of being slightly more careful, but isn't a deal breaker.

Pictures of the Vapman don't do it justice in terms if it's size (it's tiny). The size is a plus...and a minus. You have a very good concealed weapon, but at the same time, the bowl is oh-so diminutive. I got pretty baked using it last night, but it took a couple of bowls. I'd probably be inclined to use the VM as my go-to if the bowl had a little more volume.

As far as performance goes, so far it's a draw. I think the Lotus is efficient, but the Vapman is more so. My initial impressions is that the flavor from the VM is better and I prefer it's air flow. The Lotus requires a very low and steady draw which sometimes leaves me wondering how much I'm actually inhaling. I have a J hook on the way which may change the dynamics of the piece a bit, but I think the air flow is limited more by the cap than the stem...we'll see. It's pretty hard to scorch a bowl using either piece but the Lotus is a little more forgiving in terms of technique.

Both pieces are highly detailed works of art. The retail prices are pretty reasonable in my opinion as they have a certain amount of aesthetic appeal that one couldn't get with plastic.

I'd probably suggest the Lotus first choice and the Vapman as a very close second for the new fire powered vaporist.

Have you used your Lotus with water yet?

Totally. Masssdrop is good for a select few products (hint: large profit margin items). For example, they had some really fantastic speakers for like 40% off. For that, I would wait a month. I also got a MFLB PA 2.0 for $50! But yeah dude, lowered priced items generally won't be worth it.

I'm waiting for the MD deal for the Lotus, but if that doesn't happen, I probably won't pull the trigger since I have a LB. I'm also considering selling the LB for the Lotus fund.

Quick question: With one scoop, how many hits do you guys generally get? I've been trying to comb this thread (but 47 pages is a lot, lol), and it seems like 1-4 hits per load. Is this an accurate assessment?

Although I don't use the scooper tool my loads are probably in the same ballpark, I'd say about 4 solid hits give or take depending on whether or not you milk it

I also do not use the scooper, Id say about a half full bowl gets me 2-4 solid milky hits, and then a few medium toasty hits before its done.

Sneech,

My face is melting...
2-4 good hits/ bowl for me too.

I find that the first few, though flavorful, aren't very cloud-like (I'm assuming this has to do with getting the chamber warmed up), then a couple three good clouds. I stir after the first few clouds and then re-hit it to depletion a little later.

For any new users, my one suggestion is to draw super slow (much slower than I would for a VG or the VM) if clouds are what is desired.

I joined the MD poll too for shit and giggles figuring if nothing else, it'd get me familiar with the service.

basement farmer,
beautiful n8 there!

after a few days with the lotus i must say i like it a lot but in the end the solo seems to remain my daily driver :D
but for hash the lotus is way better than the solo, so it's really a nice addition to the solo, also for some quick / thick hits in between or on the go the lotus is really great...

too high right now to write more coherently sorry, that amnesia haze just turned me in lol :D

read you soon friends :)

man, may i ask why? my friend did the opposite and put aside his solo for daily use after he got used to the Lotus. he said it was easier to make clouds, and less resistance to the pull. i kinda agree. it could also be the 'using flame' thing that he liked with the Lotus.
