The new Sublimator products look awesome! New temp controllers on ti units and tubes mid December! Especially excited for that. Also Enrico talks of a quartz sublimator coming out within a year.

By temp controller do you mean the timer box or does it actually monitor the temp now?

If the price premium isn't too bad I'll probably upgrade though a lack of a timer override or a low max time would probably dissuade me.

Vape Obsessed
I am intrigued by this vape. However I find it very confusing. I have watched the few videos I could find online. Still confused. There are so many packages and choices to select from, I don't understand what I would need. Is there somewhere I can see one in action? A store somewhere? Is it safe around pets? My cat has to smell and check out EVERYTHING I bring into the house..

Is there a place I can get more information? The thread (I've been reading it) is very confusing as well. I am just trying to find more info.

In the video he says it is a prototype, so not sure if the Ti Apollo will have the updated controller. Enrico also says that each LED will have a marked wattage. I don't see any timer on it.

Ha ha. Yeah, "Roasting the Marshmellow" ain't for everyone, but it does get the job done.

Now this quartz thing others speak of. Hmm.
i roasted the marshmellow too much yesterday and combusted! i think i was pre occupied with talking and wasnt watcing the torch. ooops! just means she got a massive clean up. got it too looks brand new! lost a good half gram of sub oil tho.....im gunna have to grease it up with some massive oil hits of some random gooey stuff i have kickin around. glad this unit is so sturdy it can handle such an intense clean.

I am super stoked about the quartz version! I didn't think I'd ever want to replace my Apollo with another vape, but a Quartz Apollo would be irresistible to me. I would be inline for one of the first ones avail for sale!

But, (and it's a big but), I wouldn't buy it if I couldn't leave it on for extended periods.

I love the fact that the Apollo can be left on for quite awhile, it speeds up the session time dramatically because it eliminates the warm up time of the vape itself.

Maybe the prototype controller just has a simple on/off switch? That would be ideal.

I've never had a KAW. I have one of the very first subilmators with the dimmer switch My sweet spot slowly moved up for the first little while of owning the sub, seeming like it was drawing less power here and there, but it's been completely stable at a quarter turn down for at least a couple months of being only daily for at least a 4-5 hours, sometimes forgotten on overnight and other stuff. I get the same results every time when I spin the dial a quarter turn down now and that's perfect dark brown avb all the way through; no hassle and no killawatt.

I have a KAW, I find it useful but I find the liquid paper mark I made on the dial useful as well. I sub flowers at 32/33 watts, and I dab sublimate at 39/40. My mark is happily right in between those two settings, and if I'm in a hurry to sub I just start at the dab setting and turn it down to the flower setting. Ten minutes is more than enough warm-up time this way, otherwise more like 15-20.

Something doesn't seem right about the products on that website. Their "Adapt A Sub" kit ($499) looks identical to their "Sublimator Limited Edition" ($749).

I'm guessing here that they mis-named the item (s/b "adapt a bong") and are using the wrong picture of the setup, but that just a guess. Seems sure to cause confusion, though.

:peace:

I'm thinking that that's the old le kit on sale, like a close-out to make room for the new edition which hopefully will come down a bit in price when the old kit is sold out.

And it looks like the deal of the century to me!

I did it the way you're describing for the first month and a half that I owned the Sub. However, it was never as simple as your description sounds (I'm glad it works for you; maybe your ambient temperature is more constant). I think a big part of it is that the ambient temperature surrounding the Sub influences what amount of energy is needed. And, with a kw meter, it is very easy to increase/decrease the temp a little if the room is colder/warmer than when you made your mark. And, the kw meter also allows one to see what an impact a tiny movement of the wheel can have on the Apollo; the slightest turn of the wheel has a profound effect on the temperature.

I have a space heater with a fan that blows directly on the sub, and it definitely affects the sub's functionality. In my experience, moving air has more of an impact than ambient temperature does.

Exactly. And, I do like to have fans on around the house.

Well Liberty, I keep my room pretty climate-controlled and the temperature is always 'room temperature' within a degree or two and I don't need fans blowing. When I've brought my sub to friends houses my sweet spot has always seems to be very close to correct, and I just move the dial the width of the marking up or down to compensate. If I'm not mistaken, unless your heater is declining, a dial position is almost as arbitrary as a wattage number. Truthfully, I don't think the killawatt would of saved me any trouble in my life, ever. But it would of costed me money and been just another fairly useless gadget lying around. It must be fun to get scientific and down to the wattage and number, but unless it's built in to the subs timer box, I think its completely unnecessary, even to get the 'full' experience. I was on the preorder and have had mine since launch.

It was RUSSIAN OIL! Haha Enrico and Marijuana man at their finest times of being high. Wish I could get to meet Cheech in real life. He is one of my favorite pot star idols. We need subs everywhere in LA! And fast!!

Are there any hash bars or vapor lounges in LA?

Mmm... that UFO looks attractive, and I have been wanting to get a butane vape lately... Is the atomizer part REALLY necessary or do I just need to find a "cup" bowl big enough for the heating element part (the UFO?) to sit with enough clearance for herb?

^ The atomizer part is totally necessary Q, no way around that one if you want to sub!

So there hasn't been much discussion of the finer points of the sublimation that we all love to dab here, and toward that end I submit that I have identified three different sub-types of it.
:science:
  • The first type is in the middle consistency-wise, not as gooey as the mouthpiece stuff or as stiff as the stuff from the launchtube downstem. And I believe it is responsible for emitting the citrus-like aroma we have all come to love about our subs. This is the stuff that oozes out of the bottom of the atomizer and is the most frequently dabbed on its own as it is the most accessible.
  • The mouthpiece type is not only the gooiest, but also the lightest in color. Both of these attributes are imo because the sublimate has been diluted with saliva. Don't think about it.
  • The downtube stuff is the darkest as well as the stiffest, this is mostly due to it having less hydration in it so perhaps more concentrated. It could also be slightly carbonized idk.
My current pattern is to mix the three types together for homogenization, or dab the atomizer drip on it's own. I find my happy daddy tools and slick stacks are invaluable toward this end.

:freak: Thoughts?
