Discontinued herbalAire

Mine is the 1.0 version, and it's hardly been used after all these years. I remember that the bags it came with leaked, and that the original pump (which I can't find anyways) was underpowered so bag users were upgrading it but I don't remember with what. That was my only experience with bags, but it wasn't a fair test so I really don't know if I like them or not. I have all the parts including a new bag kit, but need an air pump. I could also use a backup for something else, so I will probably pick up one of these to see if it could serve both purposes:

http://generalhydroponics.com/site/index.php/parts/air_water_pumps/growforce-1/

HerbalAire's website also has a "replacement stock pump" listed for $20 with no specs.

Edit: Maybe I should just get one of these (overkill?) & try it both ways:

Vapor Sloth
Personally, I dislike bags and refuse to use. I prefer to grind my load, pin it to the bottom of the crucible with a 5/8ths screen, and connect to water diffuser of choice. Indestructible extraction device. I don't use mine anymore because of the Cloud, but I keep mine as a backup and to lend to new patients to try out with bags and everything so they can try different modes of vapor.

Has anyone noticed the little reservoir of oil that forms just above the black plastic joint?
There is the Teflon piece that you insert into the actual vape, then the whip has a black bit that is pressed into the Teflon with angled sides?
I have a nice pool collecting there!

Here is a pic to better explain!

Does anyone know of any instructions to open up the HA? My Power cord is giving way and i need to fix it before it breaks completely.

Sending it to HA is not worth it as I am in India and shipping would be a lot.

My everyday setup lately. Pure flavor, amazing functionality, and an outstanding value.

I second this!!!! I just keep wanting to do a big review here about how great it is but it's keeping me so medicated that i can't summon up the willpower to write it. So here goes:

Ditto

It's ridiculous.

Imagine a bong for your vaporizer. It's that damn good!

If you don't have it, go get it. Now. :)

Thanks for the inspiration people, Just ordered for the PNWT for $50. Now to get some gongs and maybe another HA!

Curious how does it still add up to 200? As the Gongs are listed at $35 so how do you get an HA for 115?

Been looking for a while for a vendor to sell me an HA without the pump and the bag system but no luck yet.

Since it comes as a set, i don't think you will find anyone selling just the HA vape.
Best bet would be a second hand unit.

You could always use the pump for a hydro grow!

I do not use an HA specific GonG adapter. I use a Solo GonG adapter for both my Solo and HA. $200 was my overall cost; not necessarily the typical cost of buying all three at once. I purchased the GonG adapter at a promotional price before they were first released, bought the HA new on eBay during an all time price low, and got the water tube during this $50 promotion. Although none of the three were purchased at the same time, the entire package only cost me $200. That being said, someone currently in the market to buy all 3 at once could still get the exact same setup, brand new, for less than $230 shipped: Still a top shelf value.

Agreed! A mini cloud for half the cost :)

Been using my HA with a Headford disc bubbler for a while now as my daily driver. Mating the 2 using the stock teflon mouthpiece and loving it. Hoping the gong makes it even better.

Infact I like the setup so much that I have already ordered a second PNWT and thinking of cancelling my LSV purchase for another HA.

Point of advice to those with a glass on glass adapter; watch that you don't let the cord twist excessively at the point of connection with the herbalaire. It's able to twist around inside of the hole in the housing, and if this happens too much, the wires will break. I now know this from bitter experience.

Other than that, I've been incredibly impressed, especially with the performance and also with the ease of use of the planet vape design, compared to the original crucible. But do be careful with those cords if you're flipping the unit upside down often.

edit: Might have spoken too soon. Opened it up for a look inside (as an aside, it looks much better put together than the extreme does), and the wires were all intact. Not sure what happened; but I am sure I've not got a warranty left.

This is what happened to me to. Did anyone find a solution to this?

Grokit:

That's the high flow pump, made for doing 3 or 5 bags at once. It also has a choke, to tone down the flow, iirc.

I rarely ever use bags anymore, but when I did, I preferred the original 2.1 low flow pump of the three I have. Yes, it takes longer to fill, but less air gives better vape to air ratio, and you can really milk a bag. :)

Salutations NicelyToasted,

...I preferred the original 2.1 low flow pump... ...it takes longer to fill, but less air gives better vape to air ratio...

Two years ago i went 1 step further with this very same idea:

That Leviton (Hi-Lo Lamp Dimmer No. 1420) replacement switch provided me with a half-speed setting (there's a half-wave rectifier inside), despite concerns from another member i chose to keep using it on a permanent basis:

Well, my HA failed since then but the good news is, after all this time, my modification didn't actually cause that pump to explode... The picture shows my teflon-sealed Arizer Solo bent Glass Stem in action and it also reminds me i made my bags somewhat smaller back then, in order to tame down the "locomotive effect".

How'd you kill your ha @Egzoset ? I think that your is the first one that I have heard of actually failing! Kia? Dropped into water? Smashed it with a sledgehammer Gallagher style?

Also I agree with @nicelytoasted the high speed pump isn't necessary.

Finally, I prefer the metal crucible over pv's glass adaptor. The adaptor is a massive heat sink compared to the crucible, so it takes significantly longer to heat up fully, I didn't notice any benefits in the taste dept, and I always felt like I need to hold the adaptor to prevent it falling out when upside down - no such worries with the orig crucible.

Salutations NotMyRealUserName,

How'd you kill your ha...

The thing is i did not kill it. Not on purpose, not even accidentally... It just died on me and since my needs have evolved a great deal in 25 months it's going to stay that way despite the manufacturer's offer to apply his 3 years warranty: although i still believe it was a suitable initiation tool for me i've simply concluded it's not worth the trouble anymore.

The adaptor is a massive heat sink...

Aluminium works great in heat-sink applications while glass doesn't conduct heat very well. The benefit for using glass has to do with oil condensing right above, to ease reclaims.

how does the glass adapter for the H2.2 (2.1 also?) work? Just pops on like a regular mouthpiece? The description says "not for use with crucible". What does that even mean?

The 2.1 and 2.2 crucibles are the same? They list 2.2 crucibles only.

Pv's glass adaptor just pops directly into the ha 2.1,2.2. The same way the solo stem works. You can't use the crucible with it because the glass adaptor has its own 'bowl'.

the elite glass adaptor is not backwards compatible with the 2.1, 2.2.

Afaik, the crucible for the 2.1 and 2.2 are the same.

I do not have any glass for my HA.
It is set up as the picture, Teflon adapter in the top of the unit and black plastic stem inside with the tubing. No glass anywhere.

Now that you've pointed that adaptor out, I do remember looking at it a while ago and I was confused as well. I ended up passing on it Because it's not compatible with the crucible.

Honestly I haven't ever had any trouble hooking my ha up to glass and I haven't ever used my ha without the crucible. I'm a big fan of the double screen method, and I like the fact that the crucible keeps the ha itself clean(er?).

I watched the vid you mentioned and it looks to me like the TonG adaptor might have the bowl built in the same as the PV glass stem - which wouldn't leave any room for the crucible in the heating chamber.

It's pretty hard to tell from the vid though, as it could be that the ha's heating chamber had the vaporizables already loaded.

Either way, the TonG adaptor is much longer and so it sits deeper into the hating chamber than the stock one. There's prob not enough room left over for the crucible.

I think they expect you to load the herb directly in the chamber and pop the wt connector on top.

This assumption was what drove me to choose the PV glass gong for water tool use

I had an HA 2.1 as my first vape. I might pick up another.

So people are loading directly into chamber with no crucible? Do you put a screen in there? how do you clean it? Ground material or whole only?

Anyone have first hand experience with this piece? I don't see why it wouldn't work with a crucible.

Sorry for back-to-back, but I ran out of edit time.

I see the piece above is too long for the crucible also. For those using the original stock mouthpiece, does it mate to 14mm or 18mm? Is the only difference that you have to hold it to glass to make the seal?
