Yeah I get the ticking sound too... I can hear it at normal distance, without needing to hold it to my ear. Don't know if it's the glass or nichrome wire or both.

Biggest mistake...that I joined MD firewood order, jus to save a few $$...
Firstly they sent me just a power adapter of Firewood, and after writing to em for 4-5 days about the prob, they are finally shipping my Vape..which is scheduled to reach me by 2-6 weeks.,So a drop joined during September , will get my Vape by December(and I still don't trust em)

My last order with MD ... Will pay more next time and only use PV for all Vape requirements ..I ordered F-bomb last week and they got it delivered in just 4 days..haha and I am in India...

The glass on mine makes a cracking noise too when its at a high temp, the first time i heard it i thought the glass had broken.

Yep, heard, noticed it a couple of times but found nothing visual in terms of glass under scope.
No worries...enjoy!!

Curious on how it is working out with the draw tube screen/spring cup set up?
Tweaked mine, since it hampered the experience and made a huge improvement. I'll try to post some pics when up to it.

I seem to be having a bit of trouble with my Firewood. I've had it for about a month and it doesn't seem to be producing much vapor and it doesn't cook evenly. The top and bottom of the trench dont fully cook and the middle is burning. Any suggestions?

Uhm...trench meaning filling chamber? Sounds very odd since this a very friendly user log vape.
Perhaps contact Marc directly?

I had you problem as well auntjemima, It was roasting my entire trench and turning it completely black and I was getting no vapor at all, just a nasty taste. I then went back over the directions and followed them to the T and also INCREASED my airflow speed. I find myself drawing on this quite a bit harder than my MFLB. IMO, this is not really sip style vape, trying drawing a little faster/harder.

Thanks Ano! Curious on how you posted the pics missing in my post? Some pics still missing, showing a 3/4>1" rnd screen with thick
bamboo skewer end for folding and moulding to create the "sock".
Be sure open end is a bit larger in diameter to ensure a friction fit.
Insert open end into draw tube about half way, Viola.

This screen surface area increases by a factor of 4>5.
Pull out the draw tube gently and rub/clean screen against the ridge opening. Fully out, then I put tumb over opening of FW, shake and re-insert.

Hope this was helpfull. If not I can re-try to post other pics....

Awesome! Thanks to Ano for recovering my post. You'll find with the friction fit, the oils residuals extracted, will also aid
keeping the screen snug. Should have very little draw resistance thru-out +/-increasing the
performance and experience to a more full spectrum range.....enjoY!

Grasp it sounds like your having a problem a few others are having. Basically what it comes down to is you left the heater on for too long and it fried the thermal fuse. The owner does replace them if thats the case!

Nice, not sure how I held it down to long as generally I keep it down for no more then 30 seconds ..and it failed after my first 30 second start up .

In any case I didn't realize how much I loved my firewood it till I went back to my old glass ...just a whole different degree of clarity for me when using the vaporizer (i leave avb light brown), like comparing apples to oranges to me.

Thanks llamaman001 hopefully I can hear back soon and get my firewood back into use .

Hey everybody we are working on a new model! This one looks a lot like the original but there are definitely some key improvements. This one is almost all convection and is much easier to load/unload than the original. Also, it is a little easier to control, harder to cause combustion. We are still doing some testing, but it should be available soon.
