99% ISO extract/cleaning

I just recently cleaned my grinder and extracted the remains.

I found that the 99% evaps off so well that the remains are so dry I can't even 'scrape' them up.
I added a splash of 99% iso again, and immediately made a puddle and kept a very close eye on it while it evaped so I could still scrape up a puddle of goo before it evaped completely again.

Anyone have a trick to this? Or do you just have to keep a close eye on it as it dries and scrape it up while its still gelatinous?

I dunno if its normal, but my extracts generally are just a black pile of sticky goo. And I've noticed with this 99% (I was previously using ~70%) that the 'goo' is much less gel like and harder. Which can make it harder to actually scrape up and put in a bowl.


I'm still trying to figure out the best way to utilize ISO for cleaning/extract. I've tried plates and razor blades. I need something flatter. I've tried small tupperware and credit cards..which I think was actually easier than plate+razor blade. Just seems like there would be an easier method or container to just pour in the mixture and let it evap and then just dab out the remains when your ready to use it. Instead of the scraping and re-containing etc.

Maybe a window pane of glass would work. Something small enough that it stores and cleans easily. But large enough that your not spilling over the edges when you pour your ISO onto it. Then a razor blade may work well.

Pyrex baking dish! Circular ones are easy to scrape with a razor blade.

Also when you have evaped most of the ISO off, transfer it from the baking dish to some parchment paper. Use the parchment paper to get it into the shape you want - you'll have to stick in the freezer for a min or two so the oil doesn't stick to itself or the paper, repeat. Place the piece of parchment with the oil in a mason jar for storage.

Try not to purge over 110f, higher heat = darker end product.

Edit - I just realized that your only reclaiming your grinder. You'll only end up with kief, which is why it's hard to scrape. Try mixing in some abb or even fresh product to end up with a more viscous product.

Hmm, i've never used heat, or purging.

Thanks for the other tips! Parchment paper is what i need. And maybe the freezer trick too. I'll try to impliment those next time.

Glass to scrape cleanly with razor, wax to peel.
