Who has actually measured how the battery life is on the ascent? I mean, writing down the temp, duration and number of sessions?
I always forget to time it :-) and I'm just curious, with the battery meter that goes to half during operation and being full again on startup of the second session.

Second thing I was wondering about is the personal settings timer...
If you go lets say to 200 for the first 3 min, to 210 for the next 3 min and to 220 for the last 3 min,
wouldn't the effects of part 3 trump the previous two? Is this option only to enjoy the flavor?
If not for flavor, what exactly would this option be for?
I understand if I would start at 190 for a few min, turn it of, come back a few hours later and finish it on higher for a different effect.

I meant why use the cycle option to go from low to high temp in 9 minutes? I might be wrong but from what I understand from fc, higher temps give more sedative effects, won't these effects overwhelm the first effects of the low temp? why not just go to high temp from the start or stay on low the whole session?

Just got my Ascent and everything looks good :)

Now i wanna try it as soon as possible, is it ok to do the burnin during the first charge or will i haveto wait a couple of hours?

I haven't heard of any warning against that but to be on the safe side, I'd be patient if I were you (that's what I did myself), you've been waiting for months, might as well wait a few more hours. Soon the wait will be a thing of the past, you might even laugh about it one day when telling the story to your grand-children! :D

hey Vaped&Confused are those glass beads the 4mm? Just got them and they seemed small but I did the tamp with the oil jar then laid one on top and that thing ripped! :D I also have used the glass flowers with great success, only put 2 stem down then pack and :ko: They act like the iolite optimizer with the more surface area thing. For those of you on the fence with the Ascent just go buy one, you'll not regret it:tup:The Ascent also works for me way fine with no spacer at all, just depends what kinda mood i'm in. :borg:

Hey guys, i recieved my ascent yesterday and for the first impression, it looks pretty good! What i dont like is the problem with the material coming through the mouthpice, and the vapour coming out of the bottom grill. Its not that bad, but well not perfect...

I read about those "glass flowers" and i tried to buy those from amazon.com. I put them in my basket and wanted to check out on amazon.com, and then amazon said like 30$ for 10 glass flowers and like 400$ to get this delivered to germany.... ^^ So I'm looking for an alternative that i can buy here in germany. I found that on eBay: KLICK

Do you guys think this stuff will work too? Do u know a store were i can buy those "Flowers" and do not have to pay like 400$ for the shipment to germany?!

Howdy. Welcome to the fun. I'm sure you'll really get to like the Solo as you become better acquainted. Everyone seems to.

While having less surface area per unit of mass, those flowers should work fine I'd think. Better and a sphere or bead. Much better than nothing.

I also recall someone posting a link in the UK, EDI I think? They were selling Roor versions, I'd think they could be found as well?

Good luck, enjoy your Solo. Too bad good bud is hard to find in 'the old country'.......

If I were you I'd go for some glass made for pipes (safer than beads, especially colored ones which can contain lead apparently).

I've found these 2 options:

That one is in UK so shipping should be fairly decent to Germany but I'm not sure about the sizes of these screens.

I went for that one, it's in the US but shipping is based on weight and I didn't have to pay anything for it so far (payment accepted but not shipped yet).

has anyone wrote up what works best. There are so many opinions and I was wondering if the community sort of finalized what works best. Small loads vs big loads. Should I be packing it down or let is stay loose? Also I have also noticed that the battery indicator is kind of crazy, always jumping around, but in the end it stays charged for a while and charges back up quickly so I don't really care.

Great, thanks, that's the link I recall. Notice the Roor branded ones? Basically what I was using I think, only fancy German ones not cheap Chinese ones?

As far as using beads goes, I think you're right generally, however the 'cane beads' (the ones cut from long 'canes' of glass tube in short lengths) are probably quite safe due to their construction (last seen in the firey furnace).

It would work to some extent of course, but such unglazed ceramics transfer heat very slowly (why you make kilns from them...) and also have a tendency to absorb stuff in the pores. I'd go for glazed ceramics (like the bowl of Ascent is made from) or straight glass if I had a choice for that reason alone.

I think the general experience is the flowers seem to work best, but can be a little fiddly loading (although most guys sort that part out pretty quickly). Other objects work too, some better than others, but I don't recall anyone reporting superior results to flowers or reporting lack of success with the flowers?

This is a conduction vape, you need firm contact. This means at least moderately packing the load and generally a bowl full of something (all bud or bud and some spacer, including cotton) to keep the contact solid in use. More or less as designed, except for the spacer part. That is the maker intended full bowls and some packing for contact.

All good WC :tup:I just wandered into hobby lobby and found Czech glass beads and there was a rectangle shaped one that covered the top of the bowl perfectly. I just didn't know if I would be suckin down lead! (Plus i'm Polish, close enough, so they might work!:brow:)

Ha! The way I worded that was a bit confusing. I meant for 'Russian' to replace 'rushing' in the sentence...play on words....not a very good one. It's Friday afternoon (here) and I am being a bit silly.

I have no doubt they will work for Polish people too! lol Hmmmm....I'm 1/2 Irish 1/2 German...wonder if I can use them?!:D

Received my Ascent over a week ago. Love the look,size, temp.control, but very disappointed. I only use oil (Pure Gold) the hits were just lame, and there most of the the oil leaks out and creates a mess. any ideas? thanks

Its definitely annoying. If my last one that worked perfectly didn't work so well, I wouldn't keep trying otherwise. The bowl size is perfect for me, everything comes out evenly dark and last a very long time on a full packed bowl without stirring. Davinci has also been really great getting units back and forth. I just want the unit I had that worked lol. I'm tired of refilling my solo 10 times and my eq isn't portable. With this, I can vale until the pain killing effect kicks in and I can drift off to sleep while it shuts down on its timer if I forget to turn it off.

It is extremely annoying to say the least, but once you've had a working awesome unit, you wont want anything else.

The paying for shipment thing is pretty annoying too IMO. If this next one needs shipped back...... I'm going to be done with it. That'll be 50 bucks in shipping for replacements alone. Lets just hope the quality check they do this time will be a good one. So far, I've had one that wouldn't heat, a DOA, battery death and the last one, the led screen was half dead. Its like someone hates me and keeps sending me the crap lol.

Will keep waiting and hoping a little longer though. Wish me luck!

I just got mine last Tuesday and it works well except I got one with uncured silicone so the smell and taste was really off. However after some use and 6 or 8 "burnoffs" with an empty bowl it has mostly gone away. I'm sniffing it now . It's hot and I can smell it a bit if I put my nose up to the grill or crack so I expect the problem to solve itself with use.
