Good day all, new solo owner reporting in.

I am fairly inexperienced with MJ. I only 'used' it like 10-15 times in total since 2010.
All these times I pretty much always did it from a bong.
Initially it was a DIY gravity bong but later a small glass bong.
Last time I did it was a couple weeks ago, and 1 good hit from the bong got me good so to speak.
I really enjoyed the experience and thought it was time to experiment with MJ a little more often.
Now since I value my health and don't like what smoking does to my lungs I read up about vaporizers and after some evaluation figured the solo would fit my needs best and ordered it.
So I got my solo last weekend and tried it a little, but the high was nothing like it was from the bong (using the same herb).
Before trying to re-invent the wheel I came here to the elders to ask for advice.
Can a similar high be achieved with a stock solo?
If so what is in your experience the best way to use a stock solo to achieve this?
Ill try to describe the 'high' I am trying to achieve:
Wait till it 'hits'. Then usually it hits pretty hard. The first 30 mins can be a little overwhelming.
Heart racing.
It's like I am talking to my brain and giving it commands if that makes any sense?
Or I move my hands/fingers and it feels like they move like a robot. Which makes me laugh because it's trippy.
I have body spasms/twitches (sometimes in tune with music or a video).
Music sounds out of this world amazing!
After a while 1.5/3 hours I start to become VERY relaxed. At peace with the world.
Now I have to add that I once got too high from 2-3 hits from a gravity bong and got a panic attack.
I thought I was dying and ended up in a hospital, so I am also not trying to blast into space. (this will maybe come with experience.)

If the splash guard had been higher, and the intake tube longer it would have avoided the leaks imo.

I have a similar inline water rig that has the holes much lower down and further away from the top of the intake tube, which is longer. The whole thing is a little longer than the PNWT, but's that's more to do with the mouthpiece (which I prefer) and the fact the 14mm female joint isn't recessed into the body. Can almost use it lying down :zzz:

Where'd you get that tube I really like the design ... less of a bong shaped mouth piece. And I agree that the pnwt are not the highest quality pieces and it looks like a 2 year old made my perc but mine is functional.

I recommend you grind about .25g's of herb, and pack it into your solo, let it heat up to level 3 or 4. take out a stopwatch and time your inhale, try for a one minute long slow and steady inhale, repeat about 4 times and by then i think you may experience what your looking for, however if your mising the feeling from the combustion, then the solo will never recreate that fully, as vapor and smoke are fundamentally different. smoke has a tendency to aggravate your immunie system, which in turn creats feeling that marajuana alone does not induce, IMO.

Edit: I challenge everyone to try for the one minute inhale!

Hey guys I just got the Solo, and I am wondering if there is any routine I should do in the beginning before I start vaping for the first time with it.

Is it already charged? Or should I charge it when I take it out of the box

Also I heard somewhere that you should sterilize it (turn it to max heat for about 12 minutes), before you start vaping. Is this true? What do you guys recommend? Thank you very much!

Charge first! then let her run two cycles at 7 to burn off any residue left from the manufacturing process. then pack a stem and enjoy!

I just deleted some posts that resulted when a member started discussing a potential sale, then mentioned that he was short on likes to post in Classifieds, and then asked how he could get more likes. This has happened once before with the WT , never had this happen with my FBomb which I've had much longer. I don't think there's a problem with it, just finished a another session with it and all's real good!

You have too much water in the top chamber and max water in the bottom chamber; when you shake it when normally using; water from the top (which was trapped) flows to the bottom if its already max and any adds then when it starts to leak out a bunch comes out probably due to hydrogen bonding and also some sort of "pressure" built into the hydrotube. You can notice this if you play with it for awhile filling it alittle to much and shaking and all of a sudden a bunch of water will come out. What I started doing is filling it with water and shaking violently to make sure nothing leaks, seems to be working.

The trick is to get the water levels right then you shouldnt have this problem.

I was looking at planet vape.ca to buy a solo. I see they have a sale that includes a power adapter for under 2Cs. Is this t he charger I need to use the solo while charging? The only other choices are an AC adapter (which I thought it came with anyways) or a car charger I don't need. Is this the right thing to buy?

Is there anything else from this store I absolutely need? Extra metal screens or another moUthpiece? Someone mentioned their mouthpiece just fell off when they turned the solo over. Do I need o rings?

I had a huge issue with frying my lips on my iolite mouthpiece. Will the stock mouthpiece get this hot? Do I need a longer mouthpiece to be happy here? All the water pipe parts are too expensive for my destructive place. I've knocked over and broken all my normal glass bongs in the night while reachin for a hit. If there's a way to rig a hands free water pipe to the solo with whipping LMK. Lol

Looking at the high efficiency stems, it looks like not enough air resistance for me, like drinking slowly through a huge straw. The factory stems might get too hot... what about the solo stealth stem with whip tubes to rig a hands free mason jar bong or without? It looks fragile so if knocking this over on my glass nightstand in the middle of night will break it in one go, plz lmk.

I swore not to consider extras, but a $24 item would cost as much in shipping later. :) If this is fragile or not useful, lmk. Too bad they don't sell longer mouthpieces too.

I saw someone mention they like the water pipes so they can get denser larger hits... which is very expensive but sounds lovely. Then someone else said you have to puff on it to work. What a difference! I guess in reality, smaller hits and less exhaled vapor is more efficient... unless you recycle your hits into a volcano bag or circular breathe. I hold and sip in bits of fresh air until I exhale no vapors. I still prefer the long draw but lots of vapor. I'll draw on the MFLB until my lips cook or my hands get fried on the adapter. So many ways.... lol For now not cooking my mouth is a start.

So is there anything purifying about using water with vaping or is it all about temp andv taste? I guess it's good the price is steap. Glass tables hardwood floors and cats... and bad eyesight at night. Bad place for fancy glass. :(

My friend already broke his microvape and bought another. Lol I tried high quality wax in there from Harborside. All tastes the same to me, even if I make it from my own organic buds. I'm returning to bubble hash for taste unless there is some other easy to do at home type of hash to make. I have plenty extra to work with!

It must be me. I can't stand smells and taste of anything smoked, most types if alcohol, and many kinds of food. I can drive down the street get a whiff of something and pull over to hurl. The smell of skunk and diesel isn't exactly appetizing to someone with an eating disorder. Lol I am completely bummed my yummy blueberry smelling grow has no flavor of mj. At least the smell is good! I add a little herbal mix to my bowl to make it more pleasant. So until I hopefully aquire a taste for this, I just want to get my medicine down as quickly and quietly as possible without hacking my lungs out so I can eat and take my methadone without puking.

I appreciate everyone's helpful posts and am looking forward to buying one! I've decided to just cough up the plastic and hope the funds keep coming. :) Just plz lmk about the adapter and mouthpieces. I was once a pro musician, so breath control is no prob. Just need good resistance and low heat. No more fried lips! :)))

This was before the sale on the PNWT, which I picked up as it was too good a bargain to miss.
My PNWT is pretty well made tbh, don't have issue with that at all (although the bottom of the thing is on a bit of an angle so if you put it in a flat surface it leans), just could have been a more forgiving design imo.

By all means try it. The effect is not as big as with WTs with higher volumes, but it's worth trying IMO (there's a reason some guys routinely do it.....). I'd avoid champers and all carbonated liquids though, you don't really want a head inside where you can't reach it with your swizzle stick.

Fruit Liquors are fun. Wine can give a fun 'nose' to the experience. More pronounced a few hits into the session when the normal flavor starts to fade.

Perhaps it should be enough for you to accept that lots of other guys have and some have found it worth repeating......and give it a try?

Arabs have been putting fruit juice in their hookahs since before they had tobacco to put on top. Centuries. They were the original vapers, BTW. Done right the 'hubbly bubbly' vaporizes, not burns, the load. Using hot charcoals since nobody had invented electricity yet.

Do I need o rings?

You can easely and shipelly buy those rings from a hardware shop, mine are size 11 ( 13.6x19x2.7mm) super snog!! I did find it hard to place the ring dead on in the middle below the solo cap but then I tried with a straight stem in with the ring around and screwed it all together (if this make sense) and once the stem out the ring was left trapped dead on center!!!

Mouthpieces getting too hot

No fear to get your stem hot, it stays super cool, just dont be stupid like me as you take it away from your solo and hold it by the wrong end, ouch it burns, durrrrrr

I have not tried my solo with a bubbler yet but I use my EQ with a bong ALL the time, even when using the balloon, to me it just is so much smoother but mainly the next day my throat is not irretated!!
As regrads to the price of water devices, well, check this thread and you'll be amazed at what out there for people on a budget

I don't think they're needed, or Arizer would use them?

Many of us find them an advantage for several reasons, but they also have a downside.

You might want to rethink hardware store rings, they're not really appropriate. They lack the temperature rating needed (being intended for domestic water supply use). You really should get high temperature Silicone rubber rings (usually red), rated to 500F typically, plenty safe in our use.

Since the using is SAE in nature, the 'right ring' seems to be SAE not metric? Here we're using 113s with great success.

Completely agreed with you but I could not find these rings over here (Spain)

I will keep a very close eye on the rubber ring over the coming weeks and report duly if I see any melting or whatever may happen...

But if they are needed, for me that is, a big O yes, I wish I could film the way the stem moves about in my solo once hot, it's truly ridiculous, honnestly, and I have puchased 6 stems and they all dance around like if it was Friday night on the dance floor :rofl::rofl:

But that's just me, maybe it is faulty, no se!!

IMO....

If you use the solo only one or two days a week at the very most, just reseat the teflon ring when it needs it on occasion

If you use the solo any heavier than that... get a suitable O ring and forget about adjusting

The usual risk is probably hardening not melting, but it's outgassing that's the big worry I think?

FWIW I think it's guys that use the bent stems (like I do) that have the most troubles. Straight ones don't wonder. There's no hope for the guys that try to use the stem as a handle, of course.....
