The Dr Dabber Pen

Where are you located? If it has to pass through customs then it isn't his fault! They might be pulling packages apart, there is NO reason why it shouldn't be a complete kit.

I'm in fl.. I think dude just forgot to put it in the package this time. The first time, I'm guessing it fell out(just guessing by how it was packaged) Either way I still haven't received my ghost. Just the free accessories they were sending me to make up for the 1st lost one.. agh..

That's a shame, does it look like the packaging was damaged? Do you know if he was sending it as a complete box set or just a loose pen? Knowing Dr D it should get all sorted out. It's a real shame this happened. Could have been wrapped up and sent out before he got back too.

The package was not damaged at all. It was Completeley sealed so nothing could have fallen out like it did the first time..

I ordered the ghost kit w/ fc coupon code. And all i got sent was the free stuff they said they'd send me because of the previous shipping problems...

I would let Dr D know, give him a full list of what you got when with your order number. Sometimes the post office doesn't like batteries sneaking around, but I haven't seen it be an issue. Keep your head up and you'll be ripping it with the rest of us!

Update on ISO soak
in regards the durability of the DDghost's coating against ISO...

I've continued to soak my heaters in ISO with absolutely no degradation of the coating whatsoever. I have soaked one heater twice now, and both times for 12+ hours (once nearly 24) and it looks and feels identical to a brand new one. However, the "cone" that connects the mouthpiece to the heater did not fair so well after one shorter length soak. I placed it, along with the white rubber piece, and the mouthpiece in ISO and left submerged to soak for just about 4 hours. I removed the parts and started to rinse with hot water, only to have the coating peel off of the cone! However, I kind of like the look of the pen with it going Black -> Silver -> Black -> Silver -> Black -> Silver
E2LdrfA.jpg
I had to do some scraping to get one of the letters off...everything else peeled off with ease using warm water after the ISO soak.

So unless you want what in the pic above, don't soak your "cone" in ISO...it's easy enough to take a Q-tip (like the one in the drawer in the pic above) and some ISO and clean the inside...actually it may take two to get it totally clean  but you get the point....don't get lazy, unless you want more silver!

The heater however still seems to withstand the soak fine, and well, who would want to soak their battery in ISO? hahahaha So, TL/DR, yes, it still seems as though you can ISO soak your heater with no damage...still at your own risk though. (I've done 12-24 hours in 91%, no issues) BUT, do not soak your cone, for even a few hours, or it will peel  Edit* the white rubber thing faired just fine...seems to fit very snugly as it did before the soak, and I would probably soak it again with the heater...Same goes for the mouthpiece itself!

Still loving this pen!

Purchased this one before my east coast trip a couple of weeks ago, and it performed well. However, I'm wondering how much I can actually load into this thing if I don't want to have to deal with loading after every hit. It would be nice to put enough concentrate in here so that I can do this, but I'm not sure if I'm asking this device to do something it's not intended for. If this is the case, can someone steer me in the right direction?

@pancreas_fractum I won't go as far as to recommend a different product in the Dr. Dabber thread, however, this device is pretty much meant to be used with just a dab. Load as you go style. I've heard of users having success with as much as .3g of concentrate, but I haven't tried it myself so I can't recommend it. Worst case scenario - you lose your cart and you lose some concentrate.

I filled one up a bit the other day, by loading dabs more loosely and letting them melt off of the coil down to the bottom of the ceramic cup. I find that it will give you the ability it hit it without loading each hit, and have it last a while...however it will not efficiently vape it, as the oil ends up sitting below the air intake and the heater, so you get airy hits...but it still works! Also, I don't see it being able to vape it away to clean; it will always leave a significant amount behind. But, I scraped up some of the stuff from the bottom and even being partially vaped, etc, it looks and tastes decent when put back on top of the coil.

So yeah, @mlo4sho had it right...it really isn't meant for more than a dab at a time, but it seems like you can add more than needed for one hit, and get it later, and at the very least, you may have to stir it back up. Better than having to load a dab at a time, if you don't want to load a dab at a time. I'm sticking to the dab or two at a time method though so I can keep my other cart nice and clean. The messy one will stay messy and be used for 'on the go' situations where loading won't be as possible so often.

Thanks @mlo4sho - perhaps I'll pick up some cheaper concentrate and just get right down to experimenting!

Some more good info here - thanks man!

I totally used some less than stellar oil for this experiment  Also, another ISO update...I was out and about today and I took the heater than I cleaned most recently with me, and it's hitting just fine, no bad taste before or after loading it up, etc...

Do you have a favorite type of concentrate to load with? It seems waxes or shatters work best - I tried a heavy oil and ended up making quite the mess!
I don't ever have waxes, as I see no point in making my already stable oil into something that degrades  but that's a topic for discussion elsewhere :horse: hehehe

As for my oil, I load oil that would be considered shatter or sap, or heavy oil, depending on the temperature. Out and about, at this time of year, I could put a parchment paper fold of oil in my pocket, sit down, take it back out, and it would be a pile of small chunks and dust. Same oil back in side the house, etc, and it is a sap, or even semi viscous heavy oil. I've found that when properly purged, every bit of oil I've made and consumed over the past year ish has been just oil; a shatter at cool temps, sap at room temps, and heavy thick liquid at hot temps...

The ghost pen seems to take whatever I throw at it, but as for ease of loading, I find that a dab of shatter or sap is easier to get to stick onto the coil, and not stretch out/make a mess with. When my oil gets too warm, it can be less than easy to work with.

I usually get a chunk on my finger, and pulse the heater once, then set the chunk onto the heater, holding it in place for a second, then I carefully quickly snap my finger or dabber away from the dab. With a quick pull, it doesn't seem to pull on the dab/coil, yet just disconnect from them. I think most of my mess issues come with an oil that is less than solid and stable, and me pulling my finger or dabber away too fast.

After it's on the coil, I pulse the heat for a second or less on, then several seconds off, until the oil is melted into the wick/coil significantly enough to keep it from being pulled up into the mouthpiece or falling down into the bottom of the cup.

So yeah, you're probably on the right track with waxes and shatters!

Hey guy's I need to chime in here. As everyone knows I was helping out DR D while he was away. Aside from being good friends with him I do not work for the doctor. The stuff I sent out to help was from my personal stock and my intentions were only to back a brother up while helping out a few of my FC brethren.

Uri - when I spoke to you yesterday I admitted that I must have read your original email incorrectly. I thought your heater fell out and in turn I sent you a heater plus back ups, a globe, and updated silicone balls all out of my pocket.

When I learned that I in fact sent you the wrong thing I asked the doctor to please reach out and help. And, it makes me happy to know he did so and your new package is on the way.

This wasn't anything more than me offering assistance. I apologize for any problems I caused.

Here's a little video, showing how I load and use my DDGhost pen. Don't forget to change the quality to HD, so that things are at least semi visible :p Also, enable the annotations if they aren't by default (they should be) as I do a decent amount of explaining via little notes in the video.

I really love this pen. It's a daily driver for me now. :)
I have to agree completely! I wouldn't feel comfortable without a spare of each part, as this thing has become so integral to my routine! If I were to lose it like I almost did that day getting out of the car, or as @Havelock Vetenari had the misfortune of having happen in the woods, I don't know what I'd do in the mean time waiting for replacement pieces, other than go back to the rig...and as much as I love my rig, it hasn't seen use since the arrival of the DDGhost! Just a testament to the quality of this product...

3rd week in a row that I am hoping the package will be delivered. It has now been in my city for 9 days -after passing customs - without being mailed. Canada post is truly the worst postal company I have had the pain of dealing with. Ordered a solo on the 30th Oct and it arrived before the DD, which I ordered on the 17th Oct... Sent Doctor Dabber a couple messages to contact USPS and get them to initiate an investigation - just posting here as it seems he gets back to me quicker that way :p. Please avoid using USPS when sending to Canada in future as it goes through Canada Post, and they are extremely unreliable. Bought shatter 2 weeks ago hoping to use it but haven't gotten the chance to due to this ridiculous mail delay. Very frustrating.

Update on ISO soak

I just soaked a heater again (been re-soaking one heater several times as a durability test, before I continue to recommend this as a cleaning method...) and it's starting to peel now...

Soooo, unless you want silver stuff, don't ISO soak the parts of this pen for any length of time. You could still probably clean it with a pick and ISO just fine, and rinsing/quick soaks would probably be fine...

So this vape is designed to load a dab at a time? Something like .05g? Can you load even less than that and get good performance? How many hits are you guys getting from one load? I'm curious about this vaporizer because I've tried dabbing and it too intense for me. But, if I could cut it down into multiple hits and space them out, it could be a way for me to still enjoy concentrates despite my low tolerance.

You can load as little as you want, and get a hit off of anything you put in it. Your question (I think) really pertains to concentrates more than the pen...but yeah, weather dabbing or using a pen, just use less, or take less/smaller hits. You could load this with a little, or a lot, and still not over-medicate...just take it small sips at a time if you're worried! But yes, you can definitely load as little of an amount as you want  and I see no reason why even the tiniest amounts won't work. If you put it in, it will vape/combust away...granted it gets put on the coil/wick

What is the best way to ship to Canada in the future?

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
What is the best way to ship to Canada in the future?

The 'overall best way' is still USPS/CanPost because even though it takes a tiny bit longer.... you don't get butt raped with over-charged 'brokerage' fees.

UPS/Fedex

Update: Canada post mailed the package back to the US AFTER it cleared customs... Wow. end rant.

Sorry to hear of your experience nepalibaba :( Shit CAN & DOES happen occasionally. I find and count on most parcel sent product ordered from the USA to usually takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks (the latter if customs decides to sit on it for whatever reason -be it improper declaration of goods, questionable/suspect name or descriptions, or health claims being made in the documentation, or flagged vendors names- which adds to the majority of the delays).

Are you sure it was actually 'cleared' by customs ? or released by them for 'return to vendor' for some discrepancy ? As I said, shit does happen unfortunately... about as often as when an item sails right through and is in your hands in under a week with our available shoot n miss choice to avoid 'brokerage fees' other carriers charge.

Hope it gets all sorted for you in the end & your able to relax & enjoy your new toy ;)
