You bought a new solo because you were worried about a minute amount of glass dust? Why not just take it apart? Very easy to do. You dont even have to take it all apart, just take the cap off and examine it. Compressed air can be your friend.
EDIT: Also how did it break? Many large pieces or dust like? I think the chances of the "sucktion" being enough to pull the dust through the stem is low and even lower if your using a bong.

In my opinion a 14mm PVHE GonG (I like the standard one) with a pinnacle hydro tube. I like the tube because it keeps the flavor while also cooling hits and I also seem to have a much quicker high with water pipes than dry. Also a jyarz container depending on how much bud you keep (1/8 or lower fits in a jyarz). Also a quality grinder is very helpful (I like santa cruz shredder).

My opinion remains to start by using it as designed and delivered until you 'know it' well. For many (most even....) the factory trim is just fine for the task. Remember, this is a mature product. Not only is it highly likely that the maker considered all the options (like extra venting on the stems) and for what they consider sound reasons they chose this configuration. They were looking for customer satisfaction to make all those lovely sales numbers even bigger.
I'd wait until you have a personal base and a plan on improvement that's based on something more than random Internet guy's opinions? PV will take your money in due time....not to worry.

yeah the unit is a solid piece, i love it so far. i had a cheap generic whip unit that i made last a couple years, so this is a huge upgrade. i've heard that water filtering takes some of the active cannibinoids out of smoke, is this true with vapor? by filtering it through water are you losing some of the cannibinoids?
also, i never really understood the purpose of bubbling vapor. with smoke you are trying to lower the tar/other toxins, but since vapor is purely cannibinoids what are. the perks to it?

My Solo has finally arrived! I received a M1B1 model. Only problem is I run out of anything to put in it lol.
The purpose for a WT is to cool the vapor down, allows for bigger hits as u can fill it 1st and also acts as a filter to avoid material ending up in your mouth.
Edit: Can someone tell me what to check for to make sure you haven't received a faulty unit?

The honeycomb glass screen is the best way for have nice taste from your herbs and less flavor of tosted material. Thanks @ataxian for the tip!

Congratulations on receiving your Solo - I'm sure you're going to absolutely love it once you've restocked!
From what I gather, it's very, very rare to have problems with a newly bought Solo - so try not to worry yourself. You'll soon be able to tell for yourself if your unit is running as it should.

A heads up for those of you with the Jameco power adapter. After having the plug pop out of the Solo countless times I decided I needed to fix this issue so I got a utility blade and cut the top half of the black plastic about 2mm. The plug now goes into the Solo all the way and locks in there. Easy fix for those of you with the same problem.

so I just got word my solos getting delivered today. so ancccy 
just wondering what I should do upon unpackaging, heard some people talking about running it through some heat cycles first.
1st thing i will do is fully charge it, then inspect, maybe runn it on 7 for a bit then do I just blast her?
anyone with tips on first use it is much appreciated

So after running some "tests" on my girlfriends M1c1 it seems to work alright but its either still having some temp issues or it just heats up really fast. I ran in on like 4 cycles of temp 7 with nothing in it to test the heatup time. Then before I went to bed i figured I would try a load on heat 4 just to check. After giving it a minute of two to stabilize I started puffing away. It seemed to work as expected but I will have to check it out on temp 7 tonight before deciding whether or not to warranty it.

IIRC you're not the first to report this, which makes perfect sense to me from a nerd POV.....doesn't seem to satisfy some though does it? Their unit is doing just what it's supposed to do, just doesn't look like the next guys ?
Fun failure, but I'm not sure it's really significant, let alone fatal.

Yea it is just confusing to me that in the time it takes for my M1A1 solo to reach temp 2 the new M1C1 can reach temp 6-7. I thought that was way too quick to be actually heating but like I said when I was testing it seemed to be producing hits normal to temp 4. Maybe they have improved the heat up time or the new unit is more 'fresh' and thus can heat up faster than my worn in one. I will definitely be reporting back this evening after I try it out some more.
