Since were speculating and this will more then likely turn into the Zen Pen Nonsense thread when/if these guys come back, I'll throw my :2c: in.

When these guys first launched their marketing I googled ZenPen and found These.

I thought to myself, well that's grounds for a cease and desist letter....

Maybe I was right. It happened once.

Maybe we should start an "If Zen pen had to have a new name what should it be thread!"
But those are no vaporizer, they're infrared connectivity devices! :haw:

not if they were told to stay away for a bit. I'm speculating as much as the next guy, but posting here won't help your cause if you are trying to show your product that needs funding is not primarily a device for cannabis. This has happened before and may well be happening now.

I see your point, but I hope that's not the case.

If so maybe indigogo is the perhaps a better way to go than kickstarter, as evidenced by their recent successful campaign with vxc. Money people should only care about money, unless they have their own agenda. And cannabis is the only multiBILLION$ expanding market for vaporizers there is, as tobacco smokers continue to dwindle and decriminalization continues unabated.

I'm not saying that there's not an expanding vaporizer market for current tobacco users, but e-cigs and perhaps the t-vape seem like they're more geared toward cigarette smokers than an herb pen does. And most tobacco users smoke cigarettes.

No worries, I have no idea if they have different policies in place or not;
just more speculation in place of any actual information!

We're back!
...With a use video and a new name.
It's been a while since we blasted your inboxes with a message, but it's been worth the wait. As many of you have noticed, we've been missing for the last few weeks. Sorry about that! Due to a legal dispute over our use of the word "ZEN", we've decided to change our name. We are now calling the ZenPen... the GrassHopper. Yeah, you probably got that from the heading.

We are very excited about our new name -- It's awesome right?

We've asked a close friend of ours to make a use video with one of the prototypes, to show you what all the hard work has been about. It's not perfect yet, but it's time to show you that it really works. As you know from before, we will be asking for your support during our crowdfunding campaign that is launching this month.

That's right, crowd funding launch this month!

Be sure to cruise over to our new site. Lots of information there now, with more coming everyday. We will be continuing our goal of posting as often as possible to keep you updated with the project. We have new Facebook and Twitter pages as well and we would sure appreciate your support on there as well.

That's about all the news for now. Thanks for taking the time to catch up!

Will it be like "priming" the load with the first inhale, like the cera LL or will it be more like
a mflb, with possibility of a one hitter and immediate cool down of the load?
This thing sure looks awesome, I love the click on click off button and I'm curious about what
kind of screen there is in the mp, is it removable, replacable, easy to clean etc?

Mea culpa, I had started to bury the zenpen a bit too early... but I'm really glad it's back!
Seeing it in action is great and it looks like the indigogo campaign will start really soon! @Zenpen @grasshopper (might work at some point) we will have lots of questions for you here (or on a new thread maybe), I hope you won't leave us in the dark anymore because your answers will most certainly increase the amount of backers from FC and companies that listened to the input of the knowledgeable members (there's definitely a bunch of vape scientists here) have improved their product (ie. the Ascent).
In any case I know I'm going to suffer until that one is out hope you won't make it too painful! :uhoh:

Great Scott!
I have no problem eating my words when I'm wrong. Glad they finally showed SOMETHING. If this works as promised I'd still buy one despite being skeptical this whole time. I simply need to see it to believe it after a number of disappointments from several capes over the years.

Glad I was wrong.

I'd like nothing more than to eat my words and end up owning this product. I'm still on the skeptical side with always from any manufacturer who hasn't earned my trust, but I'm open to it being an actual product at this point. All they ever needed was a video IMO. This video is long overdue. Start with the proof and then give us the details and then sell it. But either way it does appear to have vaporized rather than smoked the herb, which was my biggest fear short of it being non-existant. I hope they really do change the game so to speak with this one. We will see. I'm not jumping on the beta testing train, but if this thing gets good reviews from some of the regulars around here, I can definitely see adding it to my collection. The form factor is one that up until now hasn't worked. If they do it well they will have a huge following I'm sure.

EDIT:

I couldn't shake the feeling that I was missing something odd. Put the video on 720P and a big ass screen, and doesn't it look like maybe the 1/3 of the ABV in there is pitch black? Right as he says "nice and even" it doesn't look so even to me. I'm not the best with colors, but it does look black to me while the rest looks like its got more to go. I'm just worried because a big part of this for me is it being convection. I like my share of conduction vapes too, the pax coming to mind, but its marketed as convection. IME convection is usually more even of a vape while conduction ends up charring parts. While I hope this is not the case, this is still not a deal breaker when you consider the form factor. I still take my pax depending on the situation for its ease of use, but the amount of bud saved and flavor gained using convection in my cera is night and day better. I hope this is convection truly, but I'm not necessarily out if it turns out to be conduction and still working appropriately, such as in the case of the pax.

Darkrom, about the black parts...I remember that in the beginning when I had my cera LL, sometimes I had a near
green load after a few pulls with a black center where the hot air went trough, this usually was because I inhaled too fast in the beginning, maybe this is somthing similar, where the guy in the video had to inhale slower, priming the load to get it up to temp but didn't?
just guessing of course

I never experienced that, even while trying with the LL I've never been able to combust. But I have done that in other convection vapes and know exactly what you mean. Could very well be.

I was thinking about the shape of the mouthpiece and while it's a great shape for stealth it might not be the most comfortable thing to be puffing on especially for extended sessions. Maybe round it out a bit more or something?:2c:

Like many other people in this thread, i'am happy that the ZenPen/GrassHopper is back, but i have fear that the mouthpiece will become uncomfortably hot......
And i'am with darkrom about the video and the ABV.
I see black pieces, and the guy has just pulled one time !!!!!!
So it doesn't sound too "nice and even" ................... and black is .....you know what .......

Yes, it's just some very little pieces, but there is no black pieces in the ABV out of my Solo or my Herbalaire ......

Sounds right to me, my first draw on my UD can leave black pieces especially with that long and slow of a draw. He did mention that was 80%, we should view that as a positive informing us of how effective different temperatures would be. I would hope for 80% to be a hot temperature and it looks like it is and going higher doesn't look needed unless I really need to extract.

He also mentioned to having a couple more hits, sounds about right, I would be surprise if I could get more than 3 draws from my UD without having some pretty dark material. (But I do use the normal power supply not VV)

Also, its kind of hard to really verify how black that is, I've taken many pics of abv and same with videos and rarely does the abv always look that same even in the same lighting.
