The Lotus Vaporizer

Out of curiosity, how many of those who have stems actually use them? And how often?

I finally have some money I was waiting to receive before I could buy my Lotus kit, and I'm still not sure which one to choose. Currently I don't vape flowers through water more than 30% of the time (honestly, I'm hoping the Lotus will change this), so I don't just want the WPA kit. I'm tempted to get the J-hook, but part of me wonders if I won't regret not having a stem for travel purposes. I know I would likely enjoy the J-hook more than the stem, but obviously it's more delicate... I guess I'm just looking for thoughts from experienced Lotus users...

I use mine all day, every day. If you plan to use the Lotus as a true portable, you will need the stem. It's durable, easy to clean, and well made. When I eventually get the WPA, I'll still be using the aluminum stem most often. WPA will be for sessions, rather than quick hits. I'll probably pickup a WPA kit, the extra cap will make a good backup.

question to any Hi users who also have the Lotus, have you tried the cap with the turbo tube?

I like using the stem mostly rather than the WA with my bong, even at home. I feel the water keeps some of the taste away from me. I get more satisfying hits with the stem, I feel them deeper in my lungs somehow... Haven't tried a Jhook yet but it's on its way! Should be closer to the pipe feeling...

I use the stem, the j hook, and a lotus glass sherlock as well. All three are different, and I use them all equally depending on the mood. I find it's easiest to gauge temperature with the aluminum stem, I usually know right when to stop. It's also the stealthiness, and easiest to hold. Plus, I love having the cap magnetized. I recommend having it...the glass pieces are a little better, I use them more at home, never any where else. Stem is great anywhere.

"isn't so bad" as in like nearly the couch-lock effect? :) sometimes i want to have that feeling. that's why i occasionally smoke with my buddies, when they light up. however, i want to fuck combustion completely. since most of the joints inicially promise that feeling, but i end up regretting to have smoked mostly because of the taste and not nearly every joint being able to provide the desired effect. after all, all joints are different from each other. people have different styles of rolling, using different filter tips, using different amounts of tobaco, different strains, etc. i love my mflb, but i miss the couch-lock sometimes. :)

Depends on how you hit it, if you take smaller hits you can avoid couch-lock, but if you go for clouds it still isn't so bad.

axakal,
Is anyone worried about puncturing the top when out and about? What's the best way to avoid this? Like if I take mine out I want to say put it in my cargo pocket, but I'm worried about bashing my leg into something and poking a hole in the top of the lotus? I also don't really want to wrap it in anything because I would be worried about the fibers or whatever sticking to the hot top?

I wrap my stem and cap both in bubble wrap and use the pouch provided :science:, but that doesn't solve the hot cap part, since it would just melt the bubble wrap. I usually just hold mine until it's cooled down enough to wrap back up, but I'm also looking for a new solution, prolly some kind of Ryot case...

Don't get me wrong couch-lock is definitely possible with this device, you just have to lower the torch size to really get the thickest vapor you can. If I really want to feel couch-locked I'll normally fill up my piece with an absurd amount of water to avoid the taste and re-vape some of my ABV.

If I really want to taste every last bit of my bud or if I'm just relaxing and would like something to idly puff on I'll use my J-Hook. Otherwise I really tend to use it in water-pieces

I'm not heavily experienced with different size adapters and glass pieces but I do love hammer bubblers. Could you use the WPA with a 2 piece hammer? Something similar to the one pictured below. This one is an 18mm joint. I was thinking that using an 18mm to 14mm adapter would provide more clearance for the lotus stir stick as well as making it so that I can take off the bowl to clear it without burning myself. (I'm assuming the WPA gets quite hot.)

Or would something like this work better? I'm not so sure about being able to see the cap, torch the middle, and lean down to hit the piece itself on a bubbler like this though.

I have actually used my lotus through that exact style of hammer bubbler and it was an absolute delight :) That mini-bub would work wonders as well I'm sure

I love those style bubblers, but that one in particular would need an 18-14mm adapter. My friend and I came along this badass looking piece as well. Looks like it's got plenty of clearance for the cap and perfect to aim the torch. It's already a 14mm, so wouldn't require another adapter.

I've had my eyes on this sweet little Black Leaf bub since forever! I'd love to know how it works with the Lotus...

I own the long stem, the glass j-hook, the wpa, this prodo "hydrator" that someone linked me to elsewhere in this thread (http://www.pipesdaddy.com/product-p/vp-0022.htm), and a low profile 14mm to 18mm adapter.

I use the hydrator/WPA combination most often at the desk, but I can't really take that camping. I use the stem when I need portability with durability (camping, hiking) and the j-hook when I need portability but can expect relatively low risk of breakage.

I attempted to use it with a small bong (~10-12", ~1-1.5" wide tube) and didn't find it to be as satisfying of an experience.

When I win the lottery, I'll probably go on the hunt for a honeycomb perc bubbler about the same size and shoot for a 14mm stem. Probably pass this one off to my wife. After stealing mine for the last month, she finally decided to buy her own. She's been using the stem pretty regularly so as to only have to pass the cap between us.

I went for broke and ordered the Pipe and WPA kit last night, with a J-hook added on. At just $18 more, it seemed silly not to just get it at that point. Now, the wait begins!

The wait isn't long though! Shipping and such was very fast for me. I haven't had it for more than two weeks and it's like smoking for the first time again. It's easily my favorite piece I've ever hit.
