Cheap High Quality Bubbler

Richy

Frequently up in space with Bowie
TH

Thanks for the help Richy. Yea I don't care if it's USA made. Just wondering, what exactly is the status of the Pipesdaddy Bubbler? Is it worth it or no?

I'm afraid I've never used one so I couldn't tell you but it looks like my good friend @clouded vision will be able to answer your questions.

no clue, it's about six months old, so whichever perc that would be. it's a showerhead but the cuts are all at angles. it's definitely not perfect but for $40 I got a good piece.

Yeah too bad most of those are no longer available for one reason or another.

Except for a few that Jambandphan had posted up from AliEx (which is not what Looper is looking for), I'm pretty sure most of what has been suggested throughout this entire thread is still readily available.

Sub $50 is tough unless you are going with something from one of the import sites like Pipes Daddy. Might be able to find something on Brothers With Glass from Custom Creations with a discount code.

Sure quite a bit if you include subtle differences and price variations. You did say 97 pages though and made no mention of price until now, with that said a lot of the links are to different pieces or simply aren't valid.

I only brought up price because Looper said he was looking for a sub $50 piece. That cuts out a lot of choices.

Some of the links may be no good, but with a small amount of searching you can find most of the pieces discussed or suggested in this thread. Sometimes you gotta search for a deal. There may be price variances, but they are not huge in the long run.

A J Hook and a decent ash catcher is always a good and inexpensive choice.

Of course the more you search the better deal you'll get. You are also more likely to be better informed on said product as well. I'm pretty sure most people who use these types of forums are very aware of this already.

Not sure what you mean, but if you want to keep this back and forth going feel free to pm me. Let's go ahead keep this thread about cheap quality glass and not Big Macs or random vague questions.;)

Speaking of cheap quality glass the alt sale is starting in less than a week that should make for some cheaper if not cheap quality glass.

I will say the pipesdaddy "infamous $40" bubbler is a nice little piece for the price. It is pretty small but the two I have both look about the same, one is a little nicer made than the other, but otherwise identical. I find it to be an excellent "pocket" piece for travel. If you are looking to support a large vaporizer, this may not be the best option. It works well with solo and similar sized vapes (logs are a good fit) I wouldn't put anything with much weight/size on it. The slits are at an angle and mine gives me a nice evenly diffused stack. I will give it a thumbs up if you are searching for small glass.

OK, I've picked up my shipment from Max Quality Glass (http://www.ioffer.com/selling/maxqualityglass)
I got;
  • Honeycomb to Honeycomb to Turbine tube
  • Fritter to Fritter DI Bubbler
  • Honeycomb to Fritter Bubbler

I've been wanting a few things in a piece recently that this tube brings to the table,
Honeycomb perc [check]
Turbine [check]
Large volume [check]

This thing is a beast, it's stupid heavy/thick (good stupid ;)). I've already had 2 friends say you could use the thing as a weapon
It hits amazingly, the heft stops the feeling of the bubbles bouncing around, so the draw feels really, really smooth (so long as you avoid the natural perc effect in the stemless)
[EDIT: the draw is that smooth, I've actually half thought I forgot to put water in it while I'm hitting it, then when I clear it the turbine kicks in and I can let that thought go. I can only put that down to the thing being so solid ]

Close-ups of the tube:

I asked if it was possible to get the Double fritter with a female joint, but because I was haggling on price I made it clear that I'd rather get it DI if that would allow them to make it cheaper for me.
They didn't mention it in the rest of our dealings, so I figured I'd just let it be a surprise.
Then I open the package and they included a female to female adapter :), which I found to be a very nice touch. It also came with a glass nail and dome.

I was a bit worried that the frit would be too fine and add lots of drag, especially with 2 of them, but from some water tests and 1 run with my Solo it performs great
God I love fritters

I have a buddy who's thinking about nabbing a bub soon, so I grabbed this one so he can choose between this or the double fritter if he wants to skip the hassle of importing, essentially the exact same form factor as the double fritter, but with a honeycomb for the bottom disc, and female inlet instead of DI.
The water test felt very similar to the double fritter, with the honeycomb adding a bit more violence to the diffusion compared to the frit (while the frit diffuses more, its a smoother formation of bubbles)

The build quality on them is nice.
A few minor bits here and there, but for the price I paid, I'm an extremely happy camper.
Everything feels super thick and solid, the heft behind them is impressive.

There are a few minor bubbles in some of the joins, but given these were all in the $100 price range, it's totally acceptable IMO.
If they were proper high quality $300 pieces I'd be a bit unhappy [EDIT: not even unhappy really, just slightly less satisfied] (purely with minor things, Functionally they are 100% Great)
The stem on the DI bub leans a bit toward the can, but doesn't seem to stop it from being able to mate with any vapes, and didn't stick the solo in my face, so it's all good.

This is pretty much how I feel:

Question: What is a DI? Seemed you were speaking about the 'stem'?

How would I describe the one piece, it is a honeycomb perc with a frit? What exactly is a frit? I saw you talking with someone from another thread about 'glass residue' or something, what is that exactly? Sounds scary.

I'm curious as to how your bubbler came in! I ordered this exact one, and it should be here either tomorrow or Wednesday.

(mmmmm In and OUt!) :mmmm: (I had to do it Sorry)

So I have to say for $29.99 I am very impressed with this piece.

No bubbles anywhere in the glass. Perk is straight as an arrow. All the slits on the donuts are perfectly cut. Joints pretty well put together, just a little off but not noticeable unless really looking at it. Base is solid and it fits perfectly in my hand (just feels right ). Drag can be controlled by the amount of water over the top donut slits. Fits my T-Vape, Pinnacle and MFLB WPA without adapters.

Now, all that being said I think this thing would be a perfect vapor water tool for me if they eliminated the top 2 donuts so I sent an email to the seller to see if they would think about changing the design (doubt it but we'll see). As is though, it is definitely my new go to piece.

Now off to In and Out!

DI is direct inject, meaning it's got a male joint at the end instead of female. A frit is the same as a fritter, which is just crushed glass melted together so that there are gaps where the air can go through. That's how it tumbles the water. Glass residue I'm not 100% on but I'm fairly certain if you don't make a frit properly bits of glass can break/flake off.

ahh, OK. Would you mind telling me why someone would care if it is DI or...FI (Female inject?)?

Is it just preference, or does the draw get affected...wait, I can imagine that perhaps with a Male connector on the glass piece putting a female joint may lose some air? Is that why people care?

Thanks again!

EDIT: Was really loving Mobius matrixes, but now perhaps for my first piece I should look for something on this guys' page...

I just got mine yesterday too, and this thing is incredible! I only have an UnderDog attachment though, haven't tried it with the Solo. Amazing glass piece for under $30. (I offered 26.99)

Just ordered myself the AliEx showerhead + 7? arm tree bubbler, left a message with the order asking if the pieces could have their percs as close to the bottom as possible, hopefully she knows english well and considers it.

Her reply:
"Hi,We make the new very good products now.
I can show you the pictures late"

Not sure if she fully understood me, oh well. Hope I get a decently placed perc.
