Ed basically said If it's a broken wire (it looks like it was soldered to something before), then it is not fixable unless you have a micro soldering device.

Here's a pic I took when I last changed mine , just to illustrate better for people who have never done it before.

birkM.jpg

My first thermometer broke as well (as seen above) and I was able to solder it back with a fine point soldering iron. It wasn't easy and the use of more solder then with a micro soldering device meant that the thermometer was reading the temp lower then normal so I had to adjust my temp range until I got a replacement. My advice , try to make the hole bigger before inserting the probe end in it. Im not talking taking out the dril but I found that a SSV pick stuck in the probe hole a couple time will ensure the probe inserts more easily.

Ah, I'm sorry Krazy, those pictures jogged my memory a bit. I think my wires broke as shown in the picture (it's been a while), so I just bought a new one and inserted it in the hole. That's a great idea about widening the hole a bit.

Well, I just had a breakage I didn't expect. Dropped my Supreme for the nth time, and the heating element broke. Can hear lots of stuff moving inside the block now, and its behaving strangely, showing inconsistent temperatures , scorching plant matter at low temps, then producing nothing at the same temp on the next try. Thought the thermometer might have broken, but temp readings taken with an IR thermometer also show weird fluctuations now. Guess I'll have to buy the new one soon - this is one of my two main daily vapes (this and the PD).

Hello again fellow vapor heads!
Thought I would do an update on the SV2, I have had it a few days now and thought I would pass along some information. I wasn't crazy about the new mouthpiece design as with the screen and mouthpiece tube butted directly against the chamber bowl made the mouthpiece too hot after a few blasts. I do love the new silicone plug on the tube, it fits much better than the first design plug fit, and seems it will hold the seal much better over time, as it is more pliable. I ended up ditching the 2 new screens and used the old screen design, that way I was able to pull the tube up away from the chamber bowl, keeping the tube a lot cooler and still maintaining an excellent seal. I have been using this set-up for the last couple of days and have been extremely happy with the results, and the SV2 is perfect with this set-up. I also used the orange silicone piece supplied with the SV2 for placing my lips on, it also helps with insulating your lips from the heat. I absolutely love this vaporizer, I hope a few more of you vapor heads invest in this little unit, it sure isn't cheap, but like everything else, you get what you pay for. This is a heavy duty unit that should last for years and years if taken proper care is taken. Have an excellent day people, and vape one up for me!

Was just reading about this ... probably going to purchase soon enough. I'm making that transition from full time smoker to at the minimum 50 / 50 (smoke / vape) ... As I smoker I obviously am very attached to getting large clouds, so this seems like a good transition as it products good clouds, is portable, but obviously at the end of the day is a vaporizer.

Thanks for all the info here ... really has helped me compare and contrast several units etc.

New model looks sweet! Says on ebay it is shorter, how much shorter? Its also got that new mouth piece design with the screen built in...I often will hit my SV1 straight from the wood, no mouth piece. Cool for out doors/hiking. With this new system will that be possible? Can i just stick one of my old screens down the ol' hole? If i do, because it's shorter, will my eyebrows get a free trim?

Forgot to ask, does the rubber adapter for glass work best with a 14 mm or 18 mm opening (or both equally?)

Thanks guys.

Got mine and have already ripped a few bowls. Same great hits as the original with a few minor tweaks and improvements. Just got home a couple of hours ago after a very long weekend, but will go back to testing for the next couple of hours. So far so good.

No one seems to have mentioned this before but I don't think it fits either particularly well. I'm not sure if the rubber adapter has been changed at all on version 2 but it looks the same to me.

The glass pieces i use for the supreme all have angled stems. I find i have to hold the supreme while hitting with a 14mm adapter or it just won't stay there. Probably not a problem if you have a 90 degree fixed stem glass piece though.
On the other hand i find an 18mm adapter is just a bit too big for the rubber piece and its hard to get the right seal.

My solution has been using an 18/14 glass adapter from the lab at work and jamming the rubber piece way down past the 18mm bit to get the right seal. This permanently stays in there and it's like I have a glass on glass supreme. I know that's a crap description you really need photo's to get what I'm saying sorry. But it works perfectly.

Any one else have this problem/solution?

Thanks for your response manchild ... I do have a 90 degree joint but an 18mm opening ... obviously I'll see what happens when I actually get the supreme ... but if I can't get a seal I'll just buy a 18 / 14 glass reducer.

Sort of odd it doesn't fit well, but yeah I'd like to hear other people's opinions / experiences.

No worries. Maybe my rubber bit is a bung one but I think it's this way so that it's possible to use it with both sizes, making it perfect for neither.

edit: I think it could easily be sorted with a slightly different taper or shape of the rubber piece making it perfect for both. Surprised it wasn't one of the tweaks on the V2.

Yeah I have plenty of things I might be able to use if it doesn't fit, although I'm not sure if I need a specific type of silicone to prevent any problems haha. I don't plan to order for a bit, but I'll be sure to update this thread with my findings etc.

Maybe i have over emphasised the issue a bit.
It's no more than a small annoyance really.
You'll be fine with that piece :D

No worries haha, I watched a bunch of videos and it seemed like there were no problems with achieving a proper seal ... Can't wait to buy one of these bad boys :brow:
