Sounds like it didn't load properly. I'm sure @THC SCIENTIFIC will help you out here.

@Space Case try heating up a needle or paperclip then GENTLY poke it down each side of the cart. When you seem resitance, back off.

tried it. made a big mess on the paperclip but no vapor. does seem like the wax stuck to the sides but none made it to the bottom to give even a hint of vapor. can see orange at the bottom but nothing useful happens

hmm only way to see if its working without a MM is put the cart on the unit, make sure the battery is charged and look straight down the air tube in the middle then press the button, the heater should glow within a few seconds. If it does then the carts working and the oil is stuck, if you sure you dont see that glow and the carts not producing any vapor but there is air flow then its a dead one.

it does glow. but absolutely no vapor. sounds like my wax is wasted. I think this is turning into a big waste of time and money if none out of 0.7 grams can reach the coil

no no its not wasted. We have seen this issue many a times, just keep melting it in, take a lighter and just heat up the top of the cart and it will melt down its just being a little stubborn atm

just saw my first vapor wisp. how many seconds of lighter contact is good?
and what about the plastic cap/grommet thing? Is it for storage or during use?

a few seconds at a time, do abotu 2-3 seconds and push away then again same
OK I got a small hit. No time to try it out now for real. Do I need to keep doing the lighter periodically or will the unit supply enough heat to liquify on its own?
I was surprised at how hard the wax got inside the filler cap. Is that normal, or is it the wax, or did I use too much heat. Like 0.2 was stuck inside and I had to scrape out

once you get a vapor give it a few more minutes with minor use and it will slowly melt down.

this is my first shatter but it melts to my finger so it should be possible.
Just got my carts today. What do you mean prime? Saturating the wick like TCat is mentioning? Do I need to run a liquid concentrate in the cart first to prime or can I just start with straight bho? Can The Clear go straight in? It is pretty runny.
Thanks to OF for the pdf explanation. I need to look that over some more and guess I should hit a couple youtubes before I start filling.
Do I need to weigh these carts for filling? I have a triple beam but don't really want to pull it out lol
It is important to not run it dry though, right? Leave at least 0.2 g when refilling?
These carts don't cleaned with iso like the eskillet types, right? I have a liquid wax that has a bad taste. If I use it first will that contaminate the taste for anything subsequent? I am thinking I should use it as the last gram before the cart is retired. And these carts are getting toward the end of useful life when taste starts getting poor?
White plastic piece goes on top after filling?

To anyone: is there any reason to use gentlemen's carts now that I have these 2.4 omicrons? I got their new 1.5 g cart, smaller traditional cart, and tincture tank. Haven't used them and plan to return unless somebody thinks they are useful. Do they really waste your wax like you get less effect per gram? Looks easy to load and I like the simplicity but wasting product is not going to work. Could it be that it just give a huge hit?
Hi there. While I may not be the most qualified to answer each of your 14 or so questions as I have experience with almost exclusively shatter & am relatively new as well, I will assist and try to answer you as best I can.

The first & most important step I'd recommend is to read the hard copy manual and the vapor wiki. These both outline troubleshooting step by step when not getting vapor, along with how to prime & what that means.

Since you loaded the cart and are having trouble, your load is still in the cart and not wasted. Heating a paperclip and running it thru the center air tube & wiping off the paperclip repeatedly will get hash out of anywhere it shouldn't be. Heating along the sides of the cart with a lighter will melt your concentrate the rest of the way down the tube & onto the heaters below. It might take a bit of heat, and you may need to get the lighter relatively close to your hand holding the bottom of the cart. Just be careful with your skin and don't overdo it with a ridiculous amount of heat..but don't give up.

In addition, don't use the white circle cap unless you're just storing the cart for later. If your concentrate melts at room temp when you touch it, it isn't shatter as the term is a description of consistency (hard, breakable glass-like hash. I am unsure as to what The Clear is, but if it's liquid then use it with an ejuice tank to avoid leaks. If you have a bad tasting hash we can't tell what the cause is or whether it will linger, but use it last in case it leaves any bad taste behind - this is if it passes the foil test since it sounds questionable. Any high quality concentrate should work well, don't worry about trying to start with a runny one as this may cause leaks.

I hope I've been able to help your situation and possibly answered some of your questions. Happy vaping.

That video was a scare tactic. I assure you that you can start with the kiss cart if the silica is an issue. The kiss carts use no silica and no solder. it is a minimalist design and can be rebuild if you so desire.

Kinda confused on the KISS carts. Do they use a wick, or is that a big piece of ceramic that the kanthal wire is wrapped around?

My confusion regarding the kiss carts stems from the name..I must have missed when the layg became kiss lol. The ceramic acts as the wick itself if I understand correctly.

Very helpful. Thanks. I hate that it is all a hidden mystery inside this metal tube

What did you load in it?
El Chapo honeycomb from LA. Not tip top shelf but a good bho. I was surprised how it solidified onto the side of the filler tool. But I haven't seen bho in all its stages so maybe that is to be expected. I had hoped it would run down easier though. I think I should have done 0.35 and then another 0.35 instead of throwing it all in the hopper.
I am scared to start pouring the clear in there.
I see in videos all have people use hot plates. Maybe that is better to fully heat the entire cart.
It seemed like a pain to make little snakes and stick them in the hole, but the amount stuck to my filler is making that seem much more attractive.

I should have ordered one of these when I got these 2.4s shipped. I too was confused with these acronyms though

KISS stands for Keep It Simple Stupid. It was named after how simple its design is.

LAyG describes a wide range of cartridges that are Load As you Go

=) No problem! I've had the same thing happen on a load or two before, and using more heat when loading helped prevent the issue. To get rid of it I had to do a fair amount of light torching on the side of the cart with it held upright..and that heated paperclip may help push down any stuck bits along the outer edges refusing to cooperate.

Thanks for the reply THC! I've heard the term but not the acronym. Good call with the original name, I suppose a globe, etc. can be considered layg as it's a style rather than brand. Though I have yet to encounter any other layg with ceramic instead of silica... =) placing my order today sir.

Little snakes? Dafuq are you doing?

Honestly for your first time loading the cart you should have went with The Clear. As I am sure you can see The clear is much thinner than whatever you tried to load last night. This means its easier to load, takes MUCH less effort to prime and will be less likely to clog on you to the point where you need a tool to fix it.

I understand you wanted to get used to loading and using the cart before putting good stuff in there, however you are making this harder to learn by starting with thicker concentrates. Id be willing to bet you would be up and running if you loaded up Clear or some OL CO2 oil from one of those syringes (btw you can squirt those directly into the cart without the fill tool as long as you're careful and slow with pushing the oil out as not to overflow the cart when filling).

This is nothing new to me by any stretch of the imagination and even I have issues getting thicker (taffy like stuff) BHOs to load/vape. Shit I remember I had stuff which required me to prime the cart with a lighter before each and every use. I ended up tossing it. This is why i told you earlier to put the more solid/stable BHOs into your dabbler pen or one of the new KISS carts. Its much easier to get the hang of these original Omicron carts when using a thinner concentrate in a 2.4OHM cart when you're first starting out. I learned on Pure Gold for example (great for loading and not having to ever prime the cart, but its so thin it is prone to leak)

BTW, I find holding the cart with something (pliers, etc) and heating it with a hair drier set to high works best for loading and priming. No direct flame to overheat things. Metal gets hot still, careful.

Also don't load more than 0.7g in at anyone time. 0.5 is okay to start with but it may require 0.1 or 0.2 more to start feeding the first time. Eventually you'll learn what type/consistency meds work best with these carts.

rolling out little snakes of shatter or taffy. little lines to feed through the hole and drop to the bottom of the cart.
Yeah, Clear probably would have been easier but that might take a light hand with the heat and wanted to try on a $40 gram rather than a $60 g. I will go for that co2 oil next. That does look to be problem free. Ultimately what I need is a bho cart that I don't have to load constantly. I think I will use a hotplate next time and feed it more slowly. It turned rock hard on the filler and sides of cart.

I guess there is a lot of confusion, and I might not have all the details, but I think you missed it?

It may well have a wick of sorts (an absorbent core in for the heater that serves as a reservoir. While these can be made of glass fibers (as they usually are), they can also be made of ceramic as TV has been doing for several years in the AVA and Thermovape lines (although their cores are solid with the porous ceramic outside rather than inside the heater for more capacity).

And it's not Kanthal wire, or so we're told. It's a Nickle based alloy, not Iron based like Kanthal. It also does not use the Alumina (Aluminum Oxide, a ceramic actually) coating on the surface to protect (but insulate) the wire like the Kanthal alloys do. Similar but very different, not interchangeable.

However they're made, I expect them to be solid performers. If not immediately, after any early kinks are sorted out. G has a pretty solid track record, my money's on that horse.

Using a hair dryer works great because it won't get hot enough to cook your oil. It just takes longer than a torch or lighter.

Also (IMO) if your concentrate can be rolled by hand and inserted into the cart, its probably not the right consistency. I'm not saying you can't do it, but even vets will have issues from time to time with stuff llike that clogging and not feeding properly.

So if i buy a kiss cart for an omicron 2.xx in matte black, and a pack of adapters, i could use that cart on both my omicron 2.5 and a regular 501 connections as power sources for it?
Just checking before i buy
