LOL but true, the Chinese have the diet down for the most part, it is USA that promotes use of the WORST food source on the planet FAST FOOD.Our lifestyles are what would be considered excessive and abusive and most of all wasteful to a great deal of the globe and for the most part,some the unhealthiest ones to walk its surface!

In N Out Double Double > Big Mac

I was an In and Out champion for the longest time. Fresh never frozen, thin burgers, fresh never frozen fries..

Then I tried Shake Shack on the east coast, OMFG it's like In and Out only with way better buns and and even juicier tastier burger.

The shakes were custard tho, not my thing. The fries were also crinkle cut, which was really a turn off at first, but they tasted ok.

Richy they must be fuckin' high so they are hungry for the the great cheap food.

I don't like the fry's or the shakes at in and out. Give me a white castle shake anytime.

^^^where are you from where you have the pleasure to choose between the two? In the Bay Area while we have an in-n-out on basicly every other corner, if you want White Castle, frozen sliders from Safeway are pretty much your only choice.

You need to get on a plane and go east.............The food is better in the east anyhow...now I am stuck in the west and cook daily or eat a lean cusine.

Yes while some regional food franchises do allude us out here I could never complain about all the diversity of foods we have in the bay. Getting older I don't find myself eating a lot of cheap fast food anymore anyhow. But cheap high quality glass is something I could eat up right now, lol.

Uh oh now we are gonna have a del taco vs taco bell war?

Apparently as soon as I stated that Big Macs are delicious.

I don't know what an In and Out Burger is so I sticks to what I knows. East Coaster all my life so it's White Castle and Dunkin Donuts over here.

^^^Well if you ever venture outside your neck of the woods put in-n-out on your bucket list. While the fries are an acquired taste the burgers will have you hooked faster than a vxc cloud....think a cross between a Big Mac and a decent steak house burger that's what a double double is.

Dude I grew up on Dunkies!

There are 2 main styles of fast-food burgers Charred or California style. Open flame vs. griddle if you will. So starting at the bottom of the barrel, Burger King is OFlame, McDs is Cali style.

In and Out is a different business model than McDs or BK. It's not a franchise, you can't just buy an InandOut, order from corporate, and have them fill you up with frozen burgers and nuggets and set you free.

The primary deal with InandOUt is they don't use frozen beef or potatoes. People who are really into burgers or beef can agree that frozen beef is a major blow to the flavor and texture of burgers.

So basically In and Out has thin, cali styled never frozen beef burgers. They don't have the expanded menus of a wendy's with all the non-burger options etc.. of course all that stuff is frozen pre-pack garbage anyway..

As someone with many years on both coasts, I will have to disagree. The food is about the same when comparing size of cities. For example NYC compares better to L.A. for quality food.

But I was just in NYC and the food is grossly over-rated by celebrities, and properly rated by YELPers etc...

Nobu NYC for instance is one of the most hyped and expensive sushi places around. We ate there, and the cut of the fish was very nice, but the actual dishes were mostly nonsensical attempts at trying to bring in tourists. For instance, Lobster Tempura with spicy mayo... we're talking about one of the most expensive celebrity chef places in NYC... Spicy Mayo ROFL.

Lobster goes well with mayo, and I'm pretty street, so mayo on stuff rolls well with me. But for anyone who has eaten mayo, what's the one way you should not eat mayo? HOT!

The Nobu Lobster Tempura special was fried lobster (how can you mess that up?) then with mayo dumped all over the panko crust while hot. LOL this is a Quick Fire challenge EPIC FAIL

Tempura is based on soft inside, crispy outside. Dumping mayo OVER fried tempura obviously ruins the crunch, and when mayo is heated, it becomes grease.

We also ate at the most famous Oyster place in the city. The dishes were just decent, but way over-sauced.

The best NYC food must be in Brooklyn I guess

ROFL I forgot the ending to my Nobu story to tie it together... There is a food truck out here called WeSushi and their sushi was >>>> Nobu, and for way less $$ They also have lobster

I prefer cooked food. The worst chicken wing I've ever eaten was better than the finest raw fish I've ever had. Just personal preference.

Edit: Damnit! I'll stop with the food.

By the way, Pipes Daddy has those encased bubblers on special again.

Lies! Raw chicken is like eating the devil's boogers!

"Sushi" places american style usually has a ton of cooked offerings.

WeSushi's best item is the Crispy Spicy Tuna Roll. They make a standard tuna roll, then panko it and fry it lightly. Then they put the epic sauce drizzle, just enough on the top. Their next best item is miso soup. One of their most popular items is the unagi, which is BBQ'd

Of course Nobo offered not just raw food, but one of their specials is literally LIVE OCTOPUS! which is just fucking way too primal and showboaty to me. Not to mention I have this weird thing about eating animals with higher IQs than most humans.... irrational but everyone has limits. Not to mention, eating living things is more of a survival thing, and I am not really in any immediate danger of starvation for the next (looks at belly) oh IDK 10 years?

Nothing against Sushi... but I can't imagine it would even be fun to try to eat a live octopus. Imagine a tentacle caught in the esophagus? Not sure the Heimlich would be any use.

I wish I could no bump because this is so off topic. Ah well.

Update, had few options and last night caved in and ordered Pizza Hut after watching a TV commercial about the 3 cheese crust.

Upon opening the box, I got a huge whiff of industrial strength cooking oil. Which reminded me of 20 years ago when I walked by a Hut and there was a glass window to the "kitchen" and witnessed an employee spraying a crust with canned oil, AFTER it was cooked.

This is probably the 4th time in 15 years I have gotten a non-airport mini-pizza Hut pie. Despite the offending oily scent, I 'manned up' and ate some. Thankfully I remembered to order light sauce because their pizza sauce tastes like canned tomato paste that was left out in the sun.

I figured "fresh diced tomatoes" as a topping might make it seem more food-like. Sadly the tomatoes were lifeless and worse than Dominos.

I need to remind myself that Pizza Hut is owned by the same evil giant corporation that runs Pepsi/Taco bell. These are the geniuses that attempted to create a "kitchen free restaurant" out of taco bells back in the day. (just hot water and microwaves).

For some reason, I remember Pizza Hut in college being much more edible and actually somewhat tasty for the price. I used to much prefer it over dominos. IDK but I'd rank Pizza Hut as much lower than Dominos just based on the creepy oil they spray all over it. At least dominos maintains it's non-greasy, cardboard like flavor.

Back to making my own pizza again with whole foods pizza dough, fresh moz, fresh basil, and san marzon tomatoes. It's 10x cheaper, 100x better, but it's just kind of a pain in the ass to prep, cook on my mini pizza stone pizza baker then clean up the huge mess I make with the flour

Pizza hut sucks but my neighbor ordered a white sauce alfredo with all the veggie fixins and i was serriously surpised it tasted really really good!

^^no doubt, but then again most broken clocks are still right twice a day.

I never had sushi, but I do eat raw fish sometimes.
here in the netherland a local specialty/delicacy is 'hollandse nieuwe', a raw, salted herring, served with piecies/squares of onion. you eat it by grabbing the tail, tilting your head backward and taking bites of it wile you dangle it above your mouth(the head and bones are removed ofcourse). if you've ever been to amsterdam you may have tried it, or seen it being eaten, fishstands are a common occurence in citycenters around here and these herrings are probably the primary/best selling product they sell.

on the subject of hamburgers, I'm always disapointed in mcdonalds hamburgers. in the commercials those burgers look great, fresh lettuce and tomato, goodlooking meat, fresh tasty-looking bun. but in reality it's a burger with a slight hint of something that looks like algae(wich probably once was lettuce), and the bun is the kind of bread that will always taste like old , lowquality bread without becoming as hard as old bread.
for burgers I prefer to go to non-chain snackbars, there you actually get lettuce that looks, tastes en crunches like lettuce, a bun, the burger itself probably tastes better too. and it's slightly cheaper as mcdonalds I think, although I don't know the prices that well. you just have to wait a bit longer since they don't have the burgers lying ready behind them but have to fry the burger and throw the other ingredients together
