Magical Butter

Alright, so I joined the Magical Butter club.

This is my plan for Saturday morning. I have never made edibles, so I'm keeping it simple to start. The butter part looks to be pretty seasy, but please advise if you think ratios should be adjusted:

14g of top shelf bud (not ABV) in 1 pound of butter

I believe this will make butter for 2 batches of brownies, so 7g per batch.

Each batch cuts into 12 brownies, so it would be a little over a half gram (.583) per brownie.

I don't know the usual amount people aim for in edibles, but on average I go through 1g a day vaping. So I figured I could eat a brownie or two throughout a day of fun.

For those with experience with MB or edibles, please let me know what you think.

I think that sounds about right. I read that 1/3 gram is a good starting dose for people so 1/2 gram might be what you're after. Most medibles are too strong in my opinion unless you are eating them on a regular basis and build up a tolerance.

Other thoughts... Eating them on an empty stomach makes a big difference. It comes on quicker. Roughly 30 minutes and you can judge strength in about an hour and eat more if you want. If you eat it with a full stomach it can take 2 hours or more to feel it and it's usually not as strong. If meal time coincides with medible time I will often eat mine right before the meal so that it gets absorbed first. That helps considerably. Because of that we have been making crackers rather than cookies or brownies of late.

Edit: VapeArts answered this question. Thanks!

Also, do you have to keep the temperature lower than the usual 350 baking temp? Not sure if some goodies will be lost at that temp while baking.

Thanks again!

Go to the site and it has the recipes with the adjusted temps. You shouldn't be cooking that high you just add time. You can look in the manual that came with it but I suggest going to the tab that says recipe. Beware it is flash and a pain in the ass.

Thanks Dreamerr.

I didn't get a manual with mine, so I didn't know recipes came with it.

Edit: Just checked the site. No recipes for baking...

Anyone know what temp is recommended for baking brownies?

The manual is on the site under support so download it. Mine is on my bed so will check and edit this.

Don't worry about the abv...just read this part...I am copying to here anyhow.
Most brownies are baked at around 325F (162C) and for vapor brownies I wouldn't go any higher. If the recipe says 350, ignore it, add a few more minutes to the cooking time instead... until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

I looked through the whole manual & recipe book on the site, couldn't find anything with recommended oven temps for baking.

I have been searching the cooking threads for temp recommendations, but I hadn't seen that one.

The mix I have is supposed to be at 325, so it sounds like I'll be fine. I just didn't know if you had to stay around decarb temps which I think are 220 or so.

We haven't adjusted any baking temps. Probably averaging around 350F and everything has come out great. Lower temps and longer cooking times will probably make baked goods come out a bit softer and chewier. At least that's why we lower temps when baking "normal" cookies or brownies.

Caramels are done but they didn't get hard after the day in the fridge so I will have to wait longer. I did get a spoonful and I am medicated in a half hour but have no idea how much that equated to.
I don't know if you used one but a candy thermometer is absolutely vital for making caramels. Mine has markings for hard, firm or soft. When it's hard,it's hard like a rock and no fun. I'm still working on this myself. I've had near perfect batches and one I've thrown in the trash. Enjoy the day and be well.

Yes, we did use one but maybe should have gone to a higher temp. My caregiver made it so I was not involved in the temp and stuff but she said she kept it at 260 cause the range was 250-270. I don't know how long she was suppose to keep it at that range but there is now way I am tossing all that money in the garbage as I can't afford to do that. If I have to drink it that is what I will do. I just need to correct it for next time. Remember I used all fresh and kief so that is big bucks.

Cutting is going to be an issue now if it does harden cause she poured it into yet a smaller container to store as we couldn't cut it. Every move of the product loses some but somehow that keeps getting lost in translation. I lost a lot in the butter fiasco with the product being moved and commented and now again.

So where can I find recipes for making tinctures? What are the best things to use and What are the mixtures? I am not having much luck finding ways using the Magical Butter machine.

Well, I have a mixed review.

The machine seems to work very well. The butter came out looking beautiful, a nice shade of green. Has a nice aroma to it, so I assume the machine did its job putting the goods into the butter. I put the machine through a cleaning cycle, and it worked great. I would have to say that they have succeeded in making a machine that makes butter making easy.

That being said, I am feeling zero effects. As mentioned in my earlier post, I made brownies that had .583g each. At 11am I ate one. By noon I felt nothing, so I ate another. At 1pm I felt nothing, so I ate another.

I have now eaten the equivalent of 1.75g in 2 hours and feel nothing at all. I average about 1g/day, so I would think I should be wrecked right now. I feel nothing, and am going to start vaping because I have spent enough of my day off without a buzz. :)

To be honest, I have never felt effects from edibles. But I have only tried them a few times when others made them, so I assumed it was because the dose was too low. So I was hoping with the MB and calculating the dosage that it would provide a nice long mellow buzz, but no such luck.

I'll probably try to figure out a different food to use the rest of the butter, but I really doubt I'll go the edibles route again. I was hoping this would be a different way to enjoy herb, but unfortunately I feel like I just wasted a 1/2 oz that could have been vaped.

Well paces, I think with edibles we expect to get the same effects as vaping just like people who smoke expect it to be the same as well. I took two of the big side of a melon baller worth of caramel and thought it had no effect tis why I took the second. Then I took a pat of butter and cooked shrimp potscampi. I did vape but not a lot for me. I decided to look in the mirror at my eyes which are usually glassy but fine as far as pupils and clearness....I must say they looked wrecked. I realized I was well over medicated cause I was chasing what I normally get. You have to settle in to the differences just like you did when you started vaping. I also find with edibles it takes a while of using them to get the feeling. When I used capsules now years ago they did nothing. After a week or two wow my fav way to medicate and the best medication as well. I just can't get them anymore but with the mb2 I am going to try yet again.

The only issue I am finding is my butter as well as my caramels stink to high heaven so there is no way they are stealth. My vape is more stealth then either of them.

I remember when I was in amsterdam, I finally ate enough space cakes to lose my shit. Literally, I left my backpack with souvenirs and a couple of cameras in it at a bus stop. It's all a bit fuzzy but I believe that I just didn't feel like carrying it any more. I was pretty bummed about it when I realized what I had done:rolleyes:
I'm not sure but I think I ate like 3 or 4 of them on a fairly empty stomach. Just pointing out it's definitely possible to get over-medicated with edibles but you have to put some effort into it!

Ok, just cause I need to get the dosage I did it empty stomach nothing in me vapewise. I took one scoop of the big side of the melon baller. I am medicated just now after an hour and a half which is fine if it is steady we will see. I ate a lean cusine after I took it. I almost picked up my vape to vape while seeing if and when it comes on and remembered and didn't. I think we may have a winner besides from the fact that I can't form them. I may reheat to a higher level to make them harder. I read that is possible maybe. The what I will call taffy is so soft that I take out a baller full and when I got back the top is smooth again lol.

Ok I am really medicated not over medicated so I have to resist vaping which won't be easy. So really it was 1:45 mins to hit. I will test time again tomorrow morning. One melon baller full is not a lot but I have no idea how much meds is in that scoop. I resisted taking two this time. I will take a pic later of the caramel and the scooper I am using.

EDIT: Well bad news is I think the stuff is giving me a headache but someone suggested it could be the sugar. I don't eat candy as a norm but do suffer from headaches. Second bad news is look at the time of the post and I am posting just about an hour and a half later if I can add and medication is basically done with the headache coming on strong. I expect at least 3 hours out of an edible. We all know it is personal as they effect us all differently. I will continue to update.

On the bottom of the unit there is a sticker that says the following:

Rated Voltage 110V
Rated Frequency 60Hz
Motor/Heating Power 250W/800W

That's the only mention of wattage I see anywhere.

Hey there, did you use flowers, sugar trim, or leaf? If its not a high grade of material going in you will experience headaches on days 2 and 3. I myself do t enjoy eating candy and brownies everyday as my stomach can't deal. You may consider oil that lasts a long time and once you have some time with it it's easy to regulate does age. Enjoy your felling of wellness.

Sorry you are having trouble feeling medicated. Just curious, how long did you run that butter maker? And what type of material did you run? Who much butter? In my book half oz 2 sticks. Based on high grade buds.
