yea, i typically hit the supreme along the lines of these temps... 270 --> 290 --> 310 --> 330
or some variation of that depending on how patient i am.

abv usually turns out dark chocolate brown, and gets darker if i decide to push the temp around 330.

do that with either 1/2 bowls or full.

anyway, someone mentioned that they use a small funnel to load their weed. where can I find something like that in a store, and not online?

Probably Home Depot or maybe a cooking supplies store.

My abv turns light brown with little yellow, I've never been able to reach a dark brown colour. Even when I hit in the 330's, it really feels like I get nothing. No taste at all, not even visible vapor when I blow under a light.

How fine do you grind your weed? I grind mine with a quality grinder, is it enough? Do you hit the Supreme fast or slowly?

I use a flexible cutting board that you can pick up at any kitchen supply store. Just dump the herb onto the board and curl it up into a funnel shape.

any bed bath and beyond store you may have locally will have a couple of options for you. the last time i was in one they have a few stainless steel mini funnel choices. however online will give you the most options.

Back for a little update
,
I tried to play w. the wires, but they seemed ok, and couldn't move.
I quickly cleaned around the temp sensor with a qtip and some 70 iso.

No change at all.

I have noticed that my metal block is moving a bit more than a few months ago, and maybe that is one of the reason because the bowl can now move a 1mm .

This morning I wanted one fat rip and reached combustion at 250....thats was harsh..had to clean my bong and SV before going to work with a disgusting taste in my mouth.

@HigherLogic,
before my SV went this way, I could go up to 390 without combustion, so maybe try to heat it up a bit more...it was a dark brown

^^^sorry to hear that you weren't able to find a solution to your temp issues. Have you tried contacting Ed? He helped out a lot when I had issues with mine.

I've never been able to get such high temps on my SV. Mine always combusts (burning taste, no ash) around 300. The instructions recommended not going above 300. Once, I broke the wire on the thermometer and Ed took a while to reply, so I had to use it sans thermometer. It wasn't too bad. I heat it up until I can smell the goodness (usually around 235-240), then heat a little more. It worked just fine until I got a new thermometer from Ed (I actually bought 3). May take a bit of trial and error but it will do you until you figure out the issue.

Or, even though the reasding isn't what you're used to, you can figure out what the "new proper temperatures" are and go from there.

yeah, thats is what I am doing since then. But sometimes there is a difference in bewteen sesh...wich I am pretty much sure is due to me metal block being able to move from 1mm and maybe to a still dirty sensor. (although I am pretty much sure it's not that)

I have also use the SV without temp reading when my battery was out.

I used a watch to time the heating and find the right timing. It worked, never combusted, but it was not as plug and play as with a temp reader.

I could indeed write to Ed (whom btw always answered swiftly to my emails), but I am living in France and don't see myslelf paying for the shipping for a repair... as my SV is still easily usable... as you said Reece I can still find the new temps... even with some variations.

Thx for the input guys .

Hey Raf007, Like reece said you can use it without the thermometer. One idea I had for you is to look on Youtube and watch the videos with the Supreme and look at the time it takes to reach a certain temperature, look for one with that uses a similar torch as you do. Then you will know it takes around X time to reach Y temperature.

Me being a tinkerer, I have always thought if mine broke that I would change the body to another shape or material. I have day dreamed about contracting a glass blower to make me a custom worked wand with glass on glass fittings that I could somehow attach the Supreme heat block to, then it would look as good as it works.

stinkmeaner,
Stink what is outlook on modding the surpreme? I'm not really familar with the unit and how far people have gone but I have heard about people placing carb holes in the wood block. Wouldn't that unit the temprences of the vape? I have also heard of the unit charring, does that emit toxins?

so i'm hitting the supreme with the plastic whip now, which i agree with others who have said that the whip was actually better than with a bong. anyway, in my baked state of mind, I was thinking how convenient it would be if there was some small glass piece that could be used with the supreme like a whip. i was imagining a small glass piece but with many coils so that the vapor could cool off a bit. does anything like that exist?

@Stinkmeaner
Yep, as you wrote, i did indeed timed my heating when i was out of batt, it worked perfectly, but it's still better to have a temp reading... and I still have one :)

Lost in Thought
I have had to replace my digital therm/probe unit on my SV cause the wires broke :( The new one works like a champ and I am back in biz.

However, on a side note -

The other day I scraped the wandhash from my 'stopper tube' (the metal part of the plug) and put the ball in my kif section of the grinder. Just a small piece of this rolled in some herb and thoroughly vaped in my SV (which does an EXCELLENT JOB) and I was wowed... I aint doing that shit on a workweek evening again! Holy fuckin-a was I a space cadet... That was awesome!

My unit has no charred at all that I can tell, I am very careful when heating. I have not seen anyone mod a Supreme, except the gong stem SM55 used in place of the silicone/alum combo. What I had in mind is replacing the whole wood block with glass. Picture a custom SSV wand with the Supreme heat block attached to the whip end, I have not figured how the thermometer would fit into that equation, if at all. I could always just point a IR thermometer at that block.

I saw a video a while back on youtube which showed a guy using a Illedelph Glycerin Coil mouthpiece. I imagine the Generics will function much the same.

AG, Isn't that an awful feeling when those wires break? I've done it a couple of times, that's why I bought extra thermometers.

Anyone know of another way to get those thermometers at a better price? The last time I ordered some, if memory serves, it was 15 bucks each.

Also, how about the rubber stoppers? Anyone know where one could go locally to buy these?

AG, I've had my SV for over 5 years now and until your post I've never thought about reclaiming from that tube. I don't know why.

Reece, have you thought about eliminating the Rubber altogether and do what I suggested to SM55, use GonG Joint?

As soon as I get around to it I will either devise a custom adapter or just order a male glass joint, they come with enough glass tubing that you can just stick it in the wood hole.

That is a good idea. Do you know what size GonG? I know someone who knows some glass blowers. I bet I could get a decent mouthpiece made for it. Hmmm. Maybe a j-hook? That rubber can become a pain after some wear and tear. Thanks Colonel H.

It is actually a 24mm joint he used mated to a 18mm joint, so in the end you would need to go through a glass blower to do it proper. A j-hook would be cool I bet, you would just have to have a 24mm adapter for it. I bet the adapter wouldn't cost too much from someone on Etsy, the end result would surely be worth the $20 or so dollars it might take.

Your welcome reece

Here is an idea that would hide the wood and require no actual modifications to the unit, it will take a little imagination but tell me what you think.

First think of the Noble Vapor Wand, it is double layered and the whip slides inside the 2nd layer. Well what if a glass artist made a similar wand but the inner layer had a 24mm joint for the Supreme to slide onto, then the outer layer was stretched to a rectangle to house the Supreme so that only the Heat Exchanger was visible. He could do worked sections and have a clear section so that you could see the Temperature.

See the wand below

i have been officially vaped (finally)! i got my supreme vaporizer and i am very happy with my purchase! i used your numbers as a guide for my first session and i was very satisfied with the results. i tried to keep to the schedule, but after about 10 mins of pulling on my SV though my mini perc, i was having a hard time staying on task. so i may have let the temps fluctuate up and down a few times.

when i packed the stem full i was a little worried that i wouldn't really get to where i want to be, because i would normally smoke more than that during one session. so after 20 mins of constant vapor clouds i thought the SV was going to get the better of me, - i was worried that i wouldn't be able to finish the bowl!!! i prevailed, yeehaw! :ko:

anyways, how long does a session normally last you 5446ThatsMyNumber?

you have really got your ear to the ground eh?

i have been looking for an adaptor like that for ever! well, ever since i convinced myself i need the vapexhale cloud. i have some stems that i think i could use as 'backup' hydrastems for the cloud, but i would need an adaptor of course. i think i will try to get in touch with thisisntreallymyname to see where he got his. btw, i think its funny that our usernames are similar!

why do you think that it would be worth it in the end to go to the trouble of getting this glass adaptor made? afterall, the only thing you are eliminating from the airpath is the silicone. does it affect the taste that much? or is it simply for ergonomics - i.e. easier to keep on your glass (handsfree operation perhaps)?

lastly, what is the o ring for?

Coils? Did i read the word "coil" as in cooling coil:

?

I may be wrong but using selected parts from two identical sets should make a nice in-line helical metal cooler, IMO...
