Man this news is really making me hesitant of whether I should order over eBay at all. I was gonna get the solo for $150 with the aluminum grinder from a 99% rated vendor, but I think for an extra ten bucks I should get it from Puffitup.

I agree with that, also consider Planet Vape, both vendors are strong supporters of this Forum, IMO worth 'voting for with your wallet'.

I've bought Solos from both, and recommend both, but to be honest haven't used the 'free grinder' any more than the others I have. Also worth considering is the PV package offer of a Solo and factory PA for $180. It's good to remember that PV shipping is fast (faster than in state orders from D9 in my case....), includes shipping and no tax.

http://www.planetvape.blogspot.ca/

IMO ten bucks is cheap peace of mind, and for another $20 you can also get a very useful PA (which I guess you could even sell off?).

No matter how you get it, you're sure to like Solo once you have a working one in hand.

I bet puffitup will match PV so it really just depends if you are going to get the special stems IMO. With PV you still have to ship back to Canada so that is an consideration. I have ordered from both vendors as well and like them both very much.

Thank you OF!

I guess if I really didn't need the PA I could sell it off to one of you guys :)

I have a question though, when I order the Solo from PV do I just enter that discount code and does it automatically upgrade to that deal? I can't check for myself because the Solo is out-of-stock so it won't let me proceed to the next step.

Though I won't be buying a Solo anytime soon :( I have money saved up to buy the Pinnacle WT and the 14mm GonG adapter as of now, which leaves me around $50, but once my school semester ends by mid December I'll have the dough  If anything, next year is gonna consist of one lift off after another!

You guys are really informative, and I feel really fortunate to have found this site!

Yeah I was gonna buy it from PV. So you're suggesting to buy the Solo with the GonG from PV together right?

I guess I could do that, yet I have time to weigh my options about other combos too.

Lol can't argue against saving money!

Because the PNWT is 14.4mm I was wondering if it fits snuggly with the 14mm GonG adapter? Will there be a wobbly effect? Can this be fixed somehow?

Well I got my response back from Grasscity regarding the Weed Star Liquid Freezer Pre-cooler.
Not so great news.

"Hello Sir

We would suggest a max 30mins freeze time for this product ,any longer and the product could crack so bear that in mind when purchasing this product

Better to keep it in the Fridge cool box!......The product is the same and not been modified in any way

Regards

GCCS..."

So guess it's the fridge for this puppy. Or even just room temp as should still help cool with distance alone. Any glass blower tips for possibly re-heating the hole to open up so some real antifreeze could be added? Just a though if anyone has ideas.

I had the coil.... only down fall was that it dripped condensation down to my load. Ive left it in the freezer for weeks and months and then one day when I was taking a hit it just cracked down the side.

I think I had a dud or a unit that was shocked to begin with. It was worth the money while it lasted (almost a year).

Throwing about 3 or 4 liquid stems that grasscity sells in the freezer along with a gong could keep you cold for 2 whole cycles or more.

I have 2 j-hooks from ALT that I switch between. And plan to get a coil soon also.

Damned, myrubberneck agreed to replace my solo but now I have to pay for the shipping to and from them. (Wich is going to be at least $80...) Is this normal?
I feel like there has to be more to the story. Are you in the US? Are they making then shipping labels but asking you to pay? Can you just pay to ship it yourself?

@The High Cyde

I was in your boat last week. Wanted a Solo with the PA from PV. Had it all loaded in my cart with a PVHE GonG... Then saw they were out of Solos, and apparently they still are. Anyway, because of that I looked around and found puffitup.com on the forums.

Long story short, I bought my Solo through them for $160 w/ the free aluminum 4 piece grinder (I didn't have a grinder and was going to buy one anyway... So that saved me $30 bucks). Free shipping, no tax, and if I need to send the Solo back I don't need to do Intl shipping to Canada.

I should also mention that instead of buying the OEM PA, I went with an @Pipes AIO+ which is a much better deal IMO. Also, I ordered my Solo from Puffitup on the same day as I ordered my PVHE gONg from PV. I got the Solo in 3 days. The PVHE just got here a few days ago, literally taking twice as long to get here. Of course Puffitup is in California, as am I.

Thanks for sharing your story Caligula , I'm most likely going to order from Puffitup and the GonG from PV. I just can't justify my need for the PA at the moment, and if I need it I'm sure Pipes will help me out!

I'm from Cali too, in the IE.

btw, how's that grinder you got with the Solo from Puff?

The Pinnacle water tool works great with the regular Solo gong and the PVHE Solo gong i have no wobble at all.

And Pipes power supply works great. (I only got the strep down converter.)
I use mine in the car and in the house with a reg 12 volt power supply.

I ordered my Solo just over a week ago from puffitup. So glad I did after hearing these stories. The difference in price between PIU and myrubberneck was only $17 once the different rates of international shipping were added. When I ordered my T1 from PIU it came super fast.

On that note, I'm off to the post office to check.

That does stink.
I did get mine from e bay but a different seller and I asked about warranty service before I bought.
How long ago did you purchase?
Any recourse with Ebay Buyer protection?

Well I've used shredders before but never owned one so my opinion is based on limited experience. IMO the unit is a copy of the Space Case units, with the same tooth pattern and everything. Its a 4 piece design, which is pretty standard, and its machined out of aluminum.

The unit itself works fine, its just that the fit and finish isn't on par with the expensive grinders. There are some sharp edges and the threading doesn't fit smoothly sometimes (feels rough) but those are minor gripes that don't affect performance.

Basically, its fine for the price, lol.

Has anyone experience a unit that seems to be in fully fuctional condition, except the heat light does not flash at all during use cycling? Even the temp lights fluctuate but no response from heat led. And its vaping fine too.

Good stuff, I just want a decent grinder to catch kief because I want to make compressed kief hash to vape. It'll take me a while but it should be worth it. I also hear that grinded herb is better to vape with or something.

Before you buy a pollen press for your kief, I have found kief to vape much, much better in it's natural state. I made a bunch of pollen pellets when I first got my press, and gave up on trying to vape it. I actually resorted to smoking it in a pinch.

Really? I never thought that could work!

So do you mix the kief with the grinded bud? Did I get that right?

I use to make pollen pellets.

I like the KIEF to stay on the flowers when vaporizing!

I've seen people vape straight kief in many vapes including the Solo. It's probably more common to just mix it in with flowers or in between an herb sandwich at least to start.

Fun to play with in any case.

@Dreamer, Not everyone lives in Canada or US ;)

@OF in fact with the customs charges (about $40) and extra cost of sending it across the ocean and back (~$80) and the initial cost of ~$120 it's still at bay with the prices I would pay here in Europe. So I'm not really ranting here, just a bit disapointed that it had to happen to me;)

BTW it's not my first solo, I know what I'm paying for ;)

Here's to hoping they would at least split the shipping bill, that would make it ok for me.

Cheers

It's still a bummer.

Even more so given the longer distances/higher costs. Makes careful selection of vendors all the more important.

In this case I'm sure it has nothing to do with karma..... Just bad luck.

Best wishes.
