Thanks guys, glad to see my hard work is appreciated.. :)

Hey, does anyone around these parts play PC games online FPS'ers in particular? If so I'm considering sponsoring an UD team to play a couple specific games.. anyone interested send me a PM for details. :ninja:

@ EDA - I really like that piece of wood too, awesome patterns. That came from a walnut tree cut last year about 10 miles from here. I've been aging it and waiting for a good time to use it.

@ MileHighLife - thanks man, Bocote is one of my favorite woods.. sometimes it's hard to limit myself to making just 1 or 2 pieces from it with every refresh lol.

Hello fellow Underdogs, I have a question to ask the community.

Does anyone know if there's a stem available that can attach to the underdog without having to wiggle it and kind of force it on, like you have to do with the silicon stem?

I have a silicon stem and the classic core. I like to take off the stem between inhales so that the plant matter isn't slowly vaped, but I always have to kind of wiggle it to get it off and back on. I would really like to use a stem that you can just slip on and off easily.

I saw the GonG stems on Dave's site, and they look like maybe they could work, but are they pretty much used only with water pipes? Could you inhale straight from the GonG?

Back on the forum after a long absence. Glad to see Dave still pumping out the pups. Really liking the look of the Lignum Vitae Queen. My pups are still going strong even though I only one run at a time now. The Tupelo Goblet is still a hard hitter and is still my one of my travel pieces because of quick heat up time.

I have a Lignum Vitae piece from Dave as well and the Green in the Lignum Vitae really starts to show over time.

The GonG stems do indeed attach to the unit without wiggling or force.
You CAN use the GonG stem without any water pipe. It's quite pleasant.

You also can ask Dave for a stem has the same no-wiggle glass connection, but instead of a GonG end, it can just be a regular glass mouthpiece for direct-draw.
I got really close to ordering one, but I find the GonG stem to be perfectly fine with direct-draw.

I second @MileHighLife 's suggestion for GonG and a J-Hook. Helps limit particulate reaching you and helps cool the smoke without any loss of flavor. You could also inquire about getting an all glass draw stem that would have a bowl like the gong but just continue out to be just a longer glass tube. I'm sure @underdog can help get you set right.

Just to be clear: the GonG fits the classic core, correct? Also, is the bowl on the GonG stem the same size as the regular nylon stem's bowl?

Yes, the GonG fits the classic core, and like mentioned, you can direct draw from the GonG, or attach it to a j hook, or we can make a glass stem without the GonG joint - it'll just take a couple days. I've been meaning to make a bunch of these and put them on the website for awhile now, but haven't yet. :)

Thanks all for the information. Unfortunately, I'm looking to keep the bowl size small. That's one of the things I like best about the Underdog. If only there were a wiggle free piece that had a small bowl...

I'd love to if not for the fact that I already have a perfectly good UD right now and don't really have $300 to drop on a new device just to solve this minor annoyance. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Honestly I can load the same ~0.05g in a nylon stem or this bigger all-glass stem. Either way I pretty much would get the same level of medication.

I am using a RockZap stem, that Dave sent me, with my classic core. I hold the stem up to the heat port and it kind of nestles in the heat port, although it does not fully insert like the nylon stems do with the new cores. I have to use 2 hands to use the dog this way.

With my wallwart, I have NO problem getting a VERY dark roast.

I think the UD nylon stems are the exact same diameter as the RockZap (CRZ) stems and would work perfectly. I, like you, like VERY small bowls and was not completely satisfied using the wider diameter silicone stems for small stem loads. At the same temperature/voltage (wall wart) and using the same small amount (like that would not even cover the screen on the silicone stem....and would not register on my scale that only goes to tenths of a decimal [X.X]), I can get a much darker roast with the CRZ stem than I could with the silicone stems. Mind you, I probably in the minority in that very small stems get it done for me.

I would confirm with Dave that the UD stems would fit the diameter of the classic core (which I am sure they do...though you will not be able to insert them fully into the heat port like the new cores) and try one of those. I am about to order some oils and a nylon stem from Dave so I can have an extra. Functionally, the UD nylon stems seem identical to the CRZ stem that I have.

@underdog: Got to try one of the new cores at a buddy's house. Very nice! What is the function of the metal C-clip at the top of the core? My Tineo twig doesn't have that. Also, really beautiful work as always!

I've reduced or eliminated the high temp silicone that was being used to help securely but flexibly anchor the core to the wooden body, the c-clip is doing that job now instead. Functionally there's no real difference. :peace:

Dave, is it possible to use your nylon stems like I_wanted_truth mentioned with the classic core?

Yep it's possible to use them just like I_W_T described.. not as effortless as using them with the new core but certainly doable.

First post here,
I just finished reading through all 280 pages. :o
I'm very excited to get my Dog before I go off to college.

Some questions for all the owners out there:

How efficient is your Dog relative to smoking? and relative to other vapes you have used?
(how many hits, how 'medicated' etc)

How much cannabis do you load per bowl/stem?

Have you noticed any correlation between Wood hardness and Temperature?

Which stems have you used/like best and what do you use them for?

For someone living in a dorm what stem would you suggest? (For minimal smell/Exposure of cannabis to air etc)

How often, if ever, do you combust?

ALL responses are greatly appreciated. I'm aware that the answers to most of these questions have been answered here or there, I'd just rather have a first-hand response.

PS - I will be living in a school-run apartment so it is quite different than a dorm. I have 3 doors between myself and the hallway.

I can't compare it to smoking very well, as I don't smoke. But my underdog is the most efficient vape I've used or owned.

The level of medication is going to depend on your tolerance, When I first got my dog one good hit would set me straight, I'm known to chain vape stems now-a-days.

Log vapes are great at getting you as medicated as possible with the smallest amount of material ime.

How much cannabis do you load per bowl/stem?
.05-.15 (alone I like to do .05 or just enough to cover the screen to keep the flavor fresh, but with friends I pack it a bit fatter to avoid refilling every 10 seconds.

Which stems have you used/like best and what do you use them for?
I use the glass on glass stems for everything personally, I normally run it through a bubbler in which it is perfect, when I wan't dry hits I usually just attach a 14mm female mouthpiece to the gong stem.

I also like the simple glass stems however, and hear great things about the nylon. They are all pretty solid options.

I used simple glass stems the entire time I was in a dorm, it worked well for me. I don't think any of them are really going to be better than another though. Keep your hit size small, window open, and popcorn in the microwave for best results in dorms.

How often, if ever, do you combust?
My dog runs pretty hot with the stock power supply, and I still don't think I have ever combusted.

I wasn't able to answer all of them, but hopefully this helps.

Hey all. I'm considering the VVPS-mini that is sold on UD's website.
However, I would like to use it with my Zap. My current 'brick' is 12v @ 1amp.
By what I understand, most of these '12v log vapes' are using the same heating unit? Looks like the "up to 18v @ 1.5amp" should be safe from the VVPS in that case?
I even noticed the HI is using a 12v, 2.1amp brick. Again, assuming the same heating unit there.

Anyone else have experience using this VVPS with other 12v log vapes? Hell, I'm betting even the plug is the same by the looks of it.

And when you say 'not meant for 24/7 use', you mean the VVPS is not designed for 24/7, correct? Not the vape/heater itself? Knowing that its a tattoo PS, that would make sense, just want to be sure I understand that right.

Zaps and Underdogs and HIs all use the same heating element and plugs/power supplies (or does the HI nowadays use something different? not sure). You can use your VVPS with either (though odds are you probably will need different settings for any two different "logs").
