Gear How many of you are using a closed extraction method?

Well the title says it all. Seems there are some cool products and DIY projects out there. This could be a cool place to exchange stories, pics and pit falls.
Personalty I built a Mark III Terpenator and use it often. The guys at SF helped a bunch and it took forever to get everything up and running but its quite a little beast. I will post some pics next time I run her ;P

Just shy of 3k. That is with all the hoses, pumps, tanks, gas, and of coarse the MkIII. My second build was closer to $2500 just knowing where to source some parts helped a bunch. I would be happy to help anyone that needs it. The project is kinda like a puzzle witch was half the fun.

Yeah...running an oz at a time is a ballsy expensive move for me at this point, I really don't think I'll ever benefit with a closed loop setup with how things are here. The dispensaries in this state open in 2014. To be honest I'm really hoping at least one has a CO2 setup. Take all concerns out very simply. I'll sacrifice a bit of flavor for peace of mind. Of course a properly run closed loop system would also be quite nice from a dispensary as well. I doubt they will be blasting cans of lighter fluid.

I'm listening. There has to be a better way than what I've been seeing.
3k? I'm listening less. Figures.
You've got a good point. Maybe a thinktank can replicate or improve it. You may vary well be talking about some next level shite right here.

Blew about 1lb of material and got back 96g. Still in the vac over night Ill try to get some pics of the finished outcome. This last pic looks really dark compared to what it really looks like. When its all globed up like this it tends to be dark. After about 20 mins under vac you could really see the blond coming out.

That's what Im talking about. I think if we put our heads together we can make some drastic improvements. Im going to see a new prototype this week that has been running for about a month. The MkIII its self was about $1200 after you get your pumps, tank, and gas you looking at around 3k. The gas alone was $800 and I have been running the same tank for about 4 moths with about 2kg produced so far.

OK, I'm impressed. Good job and thank you!

Pics are...well worth a ...anyway.

I'm going to look at this more in depth on Mon (@work lol) I am very interested in this! My last few batches are steering me right towards an alternative.

What benefit does a CO2/closed extraction method give you vs a non-closed extraction method/butane.

CO2 oil is considered the safest oil to use, next to full melt hash. Closed extraction BHO is right there, also, because when you reuse the butane, it's worthwhile to use the 99% pure, lab grade butane. No additives, like the cans have.
