I too am a fan of freezing my J-hook. It usually only lasts the first 3-4 minutes of a session but its very pleasant while it lasts. I usually pop it in the freezer at night and use it for my morning sesh. I also recently purchased a DBV Saturn Glycerin Coil from the classifieds and that will hold its cold for about 20 minutes

if you use the one from aqualab its a minumum of 5mm all around and holds temp much longer then the other one's. The thickest j-hook I've used was a weed star at 7mm minimum all around.

Even with a PVHE gONg?

Yes. even with a PVHE gong. I only use turbo and turbo shortys. I actually hate the way stock stems pull. you will find many people like stock stems or even ed's stem's. I have bad experiences with both and don't like either. PVHEs and PVHE GONGS for me all the way. My recent favorite has become the shorty pvhes turbo option. Keep in mind I only run fine grinds tightly packed with ultra fine screens. 0.8g for full size load and 0.6g for shorty loads. If you run whole nugs in slotted stems your just going to barely scorch the surface of the nug. Tight packs give you back your restriction at the point of action.

Bumping ist verboten. It's in the rules in the bottom right corner:
"No bumping. Please do not bump your threads to try and get attention. Be patient."

Cases are a fairly popular topic, you'll find lots of posts on them with the search function, including a week or two back our very own Stu recommending:

I disagree, this one's real simple and not ambiguous at all I think. A fellow repeated his own post to draw more attention to it, exactly what I think is being addressed by the rule?

The idea, I think, should be to obey the rules you agreed to, not look for loopholes. I will grant that most guys don't really bother to read what they're agreeing to do and so innocently break the rules?

Sorry. Studying for my LSAT has permanently ruined thought process.

Of course all of this gets trumped by "All rules will be applied according to moderator discretion."

Tom since nobody answered you shit I forgot the question....hang on gonna look...ok I use a piece of tubing on the outside of the glass stem with a piece sticking up to connect to the solo. It is 1/4" tubing from the NO2 which I don't own but liked the tubing. I now moved on to tubing I like better which is the high temp pv tubing. Mcmasters or whatever it is called I think uses the same one but I wanted many sizes in small amounts so I added that when I needed an order. If you know anyone that has a piece you only need a smidge. I also dunk my smoothflow in my ice cold water glass while vaping if I am using it. I just don't turn it upright till I take a hit or two.

Fuzzy and others using a j hook which I need to try, just try to put a neoprene sleeve over it so it will stay colder longer. Maybe even freeze it with the sleeve. It can't be that hard to make one. If you maybe search me with neoprene in the search you will see the sleeve I made from a beer holder for my bent glass stem. I have zero sewing talent but it works.

Good plan. How about the slip on foam insulation for hot water pipes? Cheap, effective, and easy to get on and off.....

@Tom Funk seems to be luck of the draw with the stems. I have 2 pvhes, one the smooth-flow fits perfectly but the other is too tight. For me it fits right in the stem with nothing else added.

Just noticed dreamer has a much more detailed post about the matter

OF, neoprene is easy to take on and off but I like your idea as well. What kind of installation would you suggest. Remember it has to be flexible since the J hood well is in a J shape :). Neoprene will move any way you want and doesn't stick to the glass as some things would.

sasNW, my smooth flow didn't fit direct hence why I used silicone. Until you just said yours does I had no idea that some might with no issues. Besides the smooth flow is heavy and I wouldn't personally want extra stress on the glass. With the silicone it will just fall off if there is an issue. The silicone isn't in the path anyhow.

Fuuuuuuuuck! My Pinnacle WT arrived yesterday. Took it out to inspect it today, set it down and the cat knocked it into the floor. Didn't even get to use it and not even all the men in the world could put poor Humpty back together again.

This morning sucks a fat one. I hope I can get more free funds before the sale ends. Sigh.

I was thinking of this sort of stuff:
http://www.amazon.com/Duck-1285241-...81954045&sr=8-2&keywords=foam+pipe+insulation

It's split and very flexible. And very easy to get on and off (remove for rapid chill). They also make a tape version which would also work but not be as convenient I'd think?

I was thinking that was what you meant which is very scary:rofl:. I would have to feel it as I haven't recently to see if it is as flexible but I don't think so but I think it would do a better job then the neoprene and cheaper unless you get a freebie coozie. I am taking my son to a college fair on Tuesday but I will stay in the car. I told him he has two objectives...good colleges to find out what he needs to do. With 200 colleges there are only a small handful of good ones in this stupid state. His second objective is freebies that they alllllllllll have. It used to be my fav part lol. I bet he gets me some coozies lol or I am leaving him there.

Firstly many thanks for the heads up on the PNWT (think i got that accronym right), a quick question please people

My PNWT doesn't seem to fill up past the bottom of the 'C' on the writing. Now the thing looks as though it should fill up to the bottom of the 'A' but just wont go past the bottom of the 'C'. A question to anyone who owns one: Does mine have a tiny crack or am I crazy?

Might have to contact vapour blunt and see about a replacement??

Cheers for the input

e2a

i've just topped it up and its holding water!!!???

I'm sat here vaked as a trombone waiting for this thing to leak. It's twisting my melon man?!?!

mine only fills to the bottom of the C as well. These are hand blown so everybodies will be different. Yours is probably fine.

Thanks Dreamerr. Should the tubing be 1/4" inner or outer diameter. I would probably get it from Planet Vape. I noticed that they recommend 3/16 ID - 5/16 OD tubing for the stealth adaptor, which I have coming. Would the smooth-flow fit in this also?

@sasNW, Thanks for your response also. Will be interesting to see if the smooth-flow fits in a PVHE or stock stem when they arrive.

Cheers

Yes feels to the bottom of the C any higher and you just have to be alittle careful to not shake it. You got it higher than the bottom of the C because you must have slowly filled it up. I found I can go alittle higher if I use a slow stream of water. But be careful too high and water could start leaking.

Nice, Im using one from colie glass that I believe is 5mm. It has been a while since ive frozen mine since I got my glycerin coil but its always a nice treat

Now tom metric is my 20th language. I don't think it will matter with what you are getting because the PV tubing can be easily stretched and I have tricks which don't involve the heating nonsense. I am sure there are many tricks but I think you will get it on no issue. Besides the point I am an idiot today and I was using 1/2" ssv tubing but have used the 1/4" as well. I grab what is within arms reach. Trust me that will work fine as it is so soft I have been able to fit tubing that should never fit on things much bigger. If it is to big which I doubt then you can just put a piece of teflon tape. Once you get it we can figure it out so don't worry. Like I said I ordered every size except the smallest one so I have options. I only ordered 3ft of each as we always only need a small amount.

Per discussion of vapor cooling -
Saturn Vapor Tamer! http://lifesabervaporizer.com/index.php/glass/vapor-cooling.html

"The inside tubing is approximately 20" long, and the diameter is even larger than our Fatty Vapor Tamer! This one has more glycerin, which in turn holds the coolness even longer. Place the vapor tamer in the freezer for at least a few hours, if not longer, and when not in use. When ready to vaporize, connect the Vapor tamer for the perfect, ice-cold vaporizer experience".

....hmmmm, coming from a technical background I am wondering if anyone has tried hooking up a peltier system to a vape in order to have an actively cooled device.

I could potentially see a chamber being cooled by a peltier device, which the tubing would be run through and thus constantly cooled.

Also, can we vape hash out of the Solo?

I have played with such devices. Problem is the cold side efficiency is so small compared to the hot side. Notice the heat sink and fans in the vid? Because of this the actual power consumption is crazy for what cold you get as well.

Reminds me of a stil project I have on a back burner.

Gets complicated fast.

Still1_zps11205c56.jpg

But might just be me. In this pic the device separates two heat-sinks. The hot side has the fan AND enough heat to transfer down the gas filled tubes to an addition heat-sink which in turn is physically pushed (adjustable) into the fins of a second heat-sink passed to the plate at the end (intended for heating the solvent and goods).

The cold side heat sink (intended as evaporator/collector in the stil) gets cold but not freezing once distributed.

Sorry got off topic....
Short answer. I don't think so.?
