Anyone else found that the restricted draw using a stock stem the Solo can be made to feel less restricted if you let a side stream of fresh air leak in beside the stem?

Forgive the tl;dr post but read on if you're interested in a stock stem fresh air leak method = a new acronym sfalm - a DIY pvhes
When you're ready to start inhaling, raise the first two finger tips of your other hand vertically and let them rest on the side of the stem near your lips.
Either free hand will work fine!
As you inhale, push the stem gently horizontally - a fraction of an inch/cm is all you need with practise.
At some gentle push point, that corner of your lip the fingers are pushing away from will let a tiny leak of fresh air in.
It will make a distinct windy, hissing sound depending on how hard you push/inhale.
Try this in the quietest place you can to hear it.
You do not need to push hard - relax your lips and let it happen.
More air = more dilute vapour - and more draw!
I think Solo technology is excellent, but sometimes I just feel like inhaling a lung full and a hands free version of this leak techique works fine for me.
I've never tried one, but I assume what I'm doing is much like a DIY pvhes - letting a controlled external air leak improve draw - and as a side effect, diluting the vapour...
Not for everyone - requires coordination unlike the fixed bypass of the pvhes determined by the physics of those grooves.
Upside of the DIY method is you get to control the amount of air flow bypass - by pushing more or less sideways - so you control the amount of fresh air you're mixing in.
You can make a leak with your lips once you get the idea if it works for you.
Anyone with access to stock and pvhes care to try it and comment?

Awesome. I've always had a thing for hand blown glass art pieces. Had quite a few Jerome Baker originals back in the day (stuff he actually made and didn't just put his name on as a brand). I find this custom stem to be less.... crack pipish (?) looking like all the clear pieces.

BTW, if you don't mind me asking, what was that going for over at PV?

So I checked the PV website and couldn't find those awesome Chillum Stems. I take it they are special order items at PV?

I bet those Chillum stems do a good job of cooling the vapor as compared to the regular PVHES stems. I prefer to use my Solo dry, so if these things can cool the vapor a little w/o water filtration then I'm in!!

I have never used shatter in a SOLO?

You can do that?

Wax/honey/taffy is a nice consistency for the SOLO. I was loading big hunks of wax/taffy with some ground herb/ABV buffer to keep the taffy from touching the stainless. IMO that is probably the biggest concern for those looking to keep the flavor smooth.

However sometimes too much wax and the hits get too big and hot for the bubbler or micro tube.

I use very powerful tools for CONCENTRATES.
SOLO'S I use for FLOWERS.

SHATTER with 2 x 18350's in a HERCULES SR71 why would I take a step backwards to have lesser material in a SOLO?

Don't misunderstand me!

I love the SOLO!

It shouldn't be too long a wait before the Chill-Yum stems become available to purchase online. Here's the reply @Snappo received from PV:

"Thanks for contacting us about PVHES Chillums for the Solo. Yes we have gotten a lot of requests and will be looking into manufacturing them as a standard Solo product. It will take us a few weeks to get enough Chillums in stock to make a production run and have lots of varieties in stock. We will make both Turbo and Non-Turbo PVHES Chillums....."

Poonman, then the whole thing would have to be made special as the top would need to be changed but very interesting in either respect. I think I would prefer a non penis top to suck on:rofl:.

Given that I want one, I'm now wondering how everything got so ass backwards.

First off ,
That seems to be my response from women lately ...hehe

No that ' penis ' part would be 14mm , ( not bragging )
I would be sticking that in ...giggity , to the bubbler .
But I would still like the streamline chillum path , that's all .

Let me vape some more , and I'll get back to you ...

Hey guys!

So I've finally saved up enough money to buy a Solo! Specifically I have $130 saved up, but I would appreciate some help. Basically I've narrowed my choices to these two:
  1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/290859335046?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 This is the M1B Model and it says that it has the ceramic heating chamber, which is better than a SS one right? Also, it says that it comes with a grinder in the title, but there is no mention of a grinder being included in the description.
  2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arizer-Solo...Domain_0&var=640040437808&hash=item564d703dbc This one is the M1X (M108) M107 model...is this an SS heating chamber one or a ceramic one? This package also comes with a 4 piece aluminum grinder, so I guess I'll be able to make compressed Kief hash later on, but not with the former link (only 3-piece grinder).

Also, how necessary is a grinder for a Solo? Is breaking the bud by hand sufficient?

Another thing on my mind is if I should cave and buy a 14 mm GonG from PV and the Pinnacle WT that's on sale for $50 only till October 31st. But this means I'm gonna have to save up for a Solo again -__- You guys have any thoughts on that?

I'd appreciate an help, I've been saving up for a Solo for months, college budget is the culprit

"Ceramic Heater" on eBay listings are generally false for the solo. It's just an old product description that no one updates. "2013" Arizer Solos are stainless steel bowls.

I would get the Solo first ,
no point in getting the 14mm gong or the PNWT without the Solo .

If it's a ceramic bowl , I wouldn't but it .
It's an older version , and probably been on the shelf for a few years along with the battery inside it . But it's probly a typo .

Many web dealers advertise their Solo's with ceramic bowls...this is an ERROR due to them not updating the outdated description. This evidences for me that they really don't know much about the product/s they sell.
