Intentional Damage Repair

If for any reason you decide to break it, bend it, run over it with a steam roller we don’t care what you decide to do as long as its recognizable as a Omicron Lite or Ophos Vaporizer and has all the parts that will complete the unit then we will replace it for service fee + shipping per claim. The parts that we will be replace in your warranty claim if found defective includes the top without an LCD display, middle tube and bottom cap. We reserve the right to substitute a product with another of equal and or greater value or equal and or greater performance if the original product is not available. The Intentional Repair Warranty does not extend your original warranty it only replaces your unit, and carrying over the original warranty without any extensions.

Example - If you have 6 months warranty left on your unit and you decide to use the vaporizer as a hammer and break it, what you do is purchase a Intentional Damage Repair and your original warranty now carries over to the new battery. At the end you still have 6 months left.

Example - If you have no warranty left on your vaporizer then purchasing this will only get you a new vaporizer with a 1 year warranty against manufacturers defects from date of purchase. Does not include back orders or pre orders. If you decide to damage your unit again you will need to re purchase a Intentional Damage Repair service again.

Service fees Per Incident

  • Omicron Lite Vaporizer $30
  • O-phos Vaporizer $30
  • Omicron V2.xx $45
  • Persei Vaporizer $65

So what happened with the Limited Lifetime Warranty?

Still there, this is intentional damage repair. Limited lifetime warranty still in place, never changed. 1st year still covered and service fee after the first year.

Ahh thanks for clearing that up. I went back a re-read the original Persei LL warranty and noticed the keywords "against all manufacturer defects," which makes it more clear now how the Intentional Damage Warranty is differentiated.

Since my 1st post (#13774) went over pretty well I thought I’d do a follow up.

The Persei/SR-71 combo really is for cluefull people who don’t mind experimenting a bit. The payback is great, IMO. I do think that every owner should have a DMM to at least check resistance and a digital scale that measures to hundredths of a gram. These are cheap compared to what most people invest in medication and equipment and they will give you invaluable insight into what you’re doing. Also, for f’s sake, upgrade your old Persei tops before you start messing with the SR-71. And get good high current batteries and pair them up.

I am going to try to go through 3g of oil before I open the SR-71 again (I’m at about 1.75 currently). As long as the efficiency stays high (no leaking) and the taste stays decent. Then I’ll clean it thoroughly. Until then I just remove the mouthpiece and top cap (while quite warm of course) and drop in a chunk of oil. I pulse the button very gingerly until I get it to mostly melt into the coil. Then top cap and mouthpiece back on, fresh set of batteries and I’m set for at least a day. Easy peezy!

I splurged on the first gram of concentrate that I used in the Herc. It was “Empire Xtrax Ghost O.G. Raw”. It set me back $90! which is becoming a distressingly common donation for top shelf wax at my favorite dispensary. The Ghost OG (84% THC) turned out to be perhaps the best medicine I’ve ever had. It was very flavorful and very strong, a beautiful translucent amber color. The high was very euphoric and energetic. But it was also a very crispy shatter that was very hard to melt into the oil coil (initially about 45% size and well over the top of the rod).

I first tried to partially melt the shatter it into the coil with button presses. But after closing it up and trying many long button presses and getting wispy hits I looked into the Herc and saw that the shatter was still mostly sitting on top of the coil. Then I made a big mistake. I used my vari temp heat gun on the cartridge to try to get the shatter melted into the coil. (Hey it worked for the old carts!) Well, it took a while but I succeeded after a few minutes, all melted. But still, all I got was wispy hits. Then it dawned on me that all the heat I applied not only melted the shatter but allowed it to just flow through the coil and bottom air intake holes and leak into the bottom half of the cartridge. I tore the Herc apart and sure enough a lot of my oil was in the bottom half of the cartridge. After scraping up what I could I cleaned everything thoroughly and carefully reassembled the Herc. My rule of thumb now is no more than a few seconds of heat without inhaling. And always a proper cool down. I’ve not had a leak or clog problem since. And when I assemble the heating rod I crank down on the retaining collar gently with a pair of pliers. I fear crushing the ceramic rod but I also fear the rod slipping and causing a short. So far I have not damaged the rod and haven’t had it slip.

By this time the consensus was building on FC that the oil coil should be very short for stable concentrates. So I cut my saturated coil down to what I thought was about 25% and pressed it firmly down around the rod. Whatever the %, it comes to just a hair below the top of the rod. Since then, I’ve been getting consistent big hits and have not disassemble my Herc since.

After I used up the rest of that wonderful shatter, I started loading chunks of “Crown Extracts Iron Man Budder”. This was some wax from last year that I found in my freezer. (I found 5 grams of wax in my freezer!) I think this gram cost $45. The budder was very soft. Kind of like the opposite of the shatter. That is what I am currently vaping and while it’s quite strong it also doesn’t taste nearly as good as the shatter and is also a little harsh. The SR-71 really lets the flavor come through for better or worse. The point here is that I can now use both very hard and very soft waxes in the SR-71 without further tweaking.

Finally, I’d like to say I am only interested in using the white heating rod. I prefer using the higher voltage (less I2R power losses) and feathering the power button for now. Rather than switch rods for different power levels I’ll use an Iris vv top in the future. Not only will this give me more control but I won’t have to disassemble my SR-71 to change power levels.

@Hedonismbot, sounds like were using similar sized coils. I was having issue with the white rod until i cut it down to this length which has provided great results since. The same sized coil is working great with the black rod was well.

Glad your liking the white rod, I just find the black rod a much easier experience with better taste results...

Also, it looks like they will be offering replacement parts in three different option
Option 1) mouthpiece, black heat shield, and black screw adapter
Option 2) upper hercules chamber with retaining nut
Option 3) lower hercules chamber, center pin, PTFE o ring, and the silver screw adapter

Option 2 is what ive secretely been hoping for. If you have or buy an extra rod it will make switching between flowers and oils or different oils much more easier and less costly than buying a second hercules

This is great news! Yes option 2 will give us great flexibility. And I'm interested it option 3 because I'm worried I'll break or lose something in the lower assembly. I've already dinged a PTFE washer tho it's still working.

Edit: Hey, I might just get a spare upper chamber so that I can have one soaking in iso (leaving coil in) while I'm using the other.

Yeah, I just lost the little PTFE washer while cleaning it out to switch it up. If you guys lose that little piece DO NOT continue to use the hercules. It will cause your spring to drop!

Anyone have any experience trying to use the hammer with a healthstone? How did it work out for you?

I just bought a hammer, and my friend bought my TI curve, so I need a new nail or something. I want a health stone but if im not gonna be able to use my hammer with it...

I don't think it would work that well, the oil would vape nicely for sure but anything that turned liquid would run into the hs and be out of reach for the hammer. A cheap torch lighter is what you want for a healthstone. The best kind of pairing for the hammer w/ concentrates is imo a simple bowl with a reservoir and air holes near the top:

oil-well-bowl-1-11.jpg

You drop the concentrate in the bottom, reach the hammer in to make contact and as the vapor makes it's way up it gets pulled through the air holes and into your water piece.

Could you link me a piece like that?

I was also thinking about getting one of the dabessentials domeless nails and using that with the hammer, or a highly educated infiniTI, I figured the hammer would work well with either of those (provided it can fit down into the infiniTI)

@ataxian You were an inspiration to me! Your love of the Solo and W9tech stuff mirrors my own vaping passion. And I’ve learned so much from you… like if I care about quality photos don’t get an iPhone! Haha.. jk.

Well, the Iris is a variable voltage top. If you use it to lower the voltage to the SR-71 you are directly lowering the power dissipated for a given resistance heating rod (P=V*V/R). That power is converted to heat and the heat causes a temperature rise based on the thermal resistance of the cartridge. The material you are trying to vape only cares about temperature not how it was generated so the key parameter of a heating rod is the power it is designed to dissipate. If you tell me the power level of a heating rod I (or you!) can calculate what voltage level you would need with a 1.5 ohm white heating rod to match it. G already did this for the black rod and said 5.8 volts applied to the white rod equals the power of the black rod. (The black rod running at 3.7v is about half the power of the white rod running at 7.4v.) The formula is SQRT(P*R)=V. So let’s say you want to match the power of a 22w rod. We know the resistance of the white rod is 1.5. So 22*1.5=33 and the sqrt of that is 5.74 volts and.. voilà!

So, instead of getting a bunch of different power rods and different battery setups just use the Iris (or Core!) to dial in the power level your material requires. Using a white rod sets the maximum power level I’d ever want to use with 7.4v supply. So I just need to cut voltages in order to match all the other heating rods. To me the variable voltage component is the missing piece in my Persei/SR-71 setup.

Ataxian, if your homemade shatter is as good or better than what I get for $90 from the dispensary then you must be in nirvana with the SR-71.

@Mynameismud I don’t doubt your experience with the black rod. I used to run the original v1 Herc with my v1 Iris set to 6v which worked well. When I get a v2 Iris I’m sure I’ll dial the power back like you do with the black rod. I’m just saying in the meantime I’m OK with feathering the power button.

Iris v2 and take my money now!

(I know, badgering, and I did pass up on a generous offer to acquire an original hoping we'd see the new one sooner..)

Feathering the button is fine however it only takes one lapse of attention (easy to do when using the Hercules due to its potency) to get that burnt oil taste in your coil, which stays with you until you use and reload.

I'd love to have an iris v2. No idea what its going to cost, but in the interim I'm guessing a $20 black rod will fix this minor issue for very little investment.

Yeah, I can hold the button on my black rod til it cuts off and then press again immediatly, all on a single inhale, and no burnt taste or even a resemblance of the burnt taste what so ever. The only trade off is that the oil (harder ones) dont melt easily or completely into the coil. So I would recommend scraping up the left over when reloading. If you dont itll still work but it just keeps building up around the outer ring of the coil that sits against the inside walls of the herc chamber.

I think that could be fixed with the IRIS also. When i was getting no results from the Blue Rod, G stated itll perform much better with the IRIS set at about 4.2 or around there I believe. So if you raise the power just a smidge with the black rod i think it would be absolutely perfect!

Dont get me wrong though, the White rod is great as well (and i especially love being able to load oil, put a screen on top and add some flowers in), but besides that one aspect it performs too similarly to my Cera, even with feathering...

If K.I.S.S is LAyG, is GLOC also LAyG? It's good to see all the projects at THCscientfic coming out, any news on GLOC, is it like a rebuildable atomizer or at least user replaceable, or is it more like an OPHOS cart where there is a lifespan and eventually be replaced, one last question if GLOC stands for glass liquid oil chamber, does this means its only meant for products similar to PG. thanks can't wait to find out more info.

I'd figure loading the coil outside of the Hercules and melting it in with a lighter would solve that issue for you.

Yeah, but thats also just a little more difficult, time consuming and messy. Not to mention that you need to take the coil in and out which could damage the coil.

Its not a huge issue, just some build up around the edges, similar to the microG, and thermovape DART if anyones had experience with those. Not too much of a hassle to just scrape it up when i reload.

I was just saying a little more power, which the IRIS could provide might solve this issue completely without having to remove the coil or scrape. Havent used one so i dont know for sure but i would assume.

OK. You guys convinced me to go dig out my old v1 Iris. Here is my SR71/Iris/Persei combo:

sOCnWIB.jpg

I figure I'm not saving it for anything else so I might as well use it. It took me a few minutes to figure it out again. I set the voltage for 6v and took a hit. It behaved like @Mynameismud reported for the black rod. I was able to hold the button down continuously and take a long hit. Perfect sized cloud for me. Not wispy, not choking. And it seems pretty unlikely to burn any oil at this power level.

I'm glad you guys pushed me into trying this sooner rather than later!
