Alright, feel like a tool here. I was stressing about not being able to remove the top cap, to load the coil/herc, without using a set of small needle nose pliers. Ugh, what a pain in the ass. I started to make a new carrying kit with room for needle nose pliers, like I need that taking up valuable space in my kit. Not happy. Flash forward to me, for whatever reason, removing the black outer sheath of the herc and seeing the top cap staring at me and VERY EASILY pulled out with my fingers. Pliers removed from travel kit and everything is right with the world again. I always tried removing that top cap while the outer sheath was always in place by just unscrewing the mouthpiece. :bang:

What happens is the pair will read dead, I'll charge them from red to green (about 4 hours) and the pair will still read dead when I put them in the Persei again. It's always been one of a pair that's the problem. Any tips?

This is a common problem with simple series battery systems like in Persei (as opposed ones like in Solo or DV that use taps in the pack and a proper battery protector circuit). This problem comes from the user pushing the discharge too far (trying to get 'just another hit or two' out.....). Where as normally you'd stop when your single 3.7 Volt battery got down under 3 (due to poor performance), when this happens in 7.4 Volt rigged Perseis the other battery is still putting out full blast so the total is still just fine. In extreme cases this can cause you to drop dangerously low, down to zero even, or in extreme cases even trying to charge the dead battery backwards with the good one. This is what kills NiMH batteries in flashlights that never had trouble with NiCds. Nicds are tougher. A known problem.

The extreme power demands of SR71 are just making this a bigger problem than before. If the weaker battery collapses under load and the user doesn't notice an immediately back off serious damage can happen in seconds.

Another possible factor comes from the using the supplied charger. It's only one channel (with two sockets), which is why there's only one charge LED. Trying to recharge a pair that's no longer balanced is going to be a problem in some cases, I suggest you charge them one at a time for that reason. Most multi slot chargers don't have this drawback, a clue is a separate charge LED for each slot.

So, once dead, bury them. If you want to keep good ones in service, keep them paired up, don't discharge them deeply and charge them separately at least every few cycles. Otherwise, the stronger one will eventually kill the weaker one?

Good luck.

...or just pull the top cap off when the unit is still warm. Whatever works.

@ataxian I thought you already had the SR-71, or did you just have the v1 Hercules?

Also, is this Godfather OG BLONDE WAX blonde enough for you? (click to enlarge)

I really love my IntelliCharger, and this is just one of the many reasons why.

Would I be better off charging them in the paired slots on my Nitecore IntellichargerV2?
It doesn't list the 18350 on the back(but lists 18650)of the charger, but many folks in the Amazon reviews said they used without issue. They made me curious, but I trust the knowledge level here much better.

Sony ones are beast, but probably overkill.
Great for the ecig guys with sub ohm setups , I Just got a sub ohm Rebuildable atomizer and a mechanical mod for full power and sub ohm vaping .
Some guys are pulling in 20 watts and need the 30 amps limit for added protection.
My panny's 10c limit are rocking away nicely on all my 18650 devices, especially my sub ohm RDA.

Iam sure you can find better prices on the batteries.

There you go, you found the deal of the century lol lol
Great Find!!

I hear Efest are either the same or made in the same factory as AW but just branded differently.
So far Ive heard nothing but good things.

The ecig guys and the high powered flashlight guys rave about these new batteries , supposedly with all the testing on various batteries these have almost no voltage drop till the end.
These are highly praised as to having a steady power output but only 1600mah.

quote trimmed.

I had a set that had just finished charging in the stock charger. I took them both out and put them back in one by one in the same side. One read green the other red. Thanks for the valuable info OF.

Can someone give me the lowdown of what kind of set up I would need for oils with the Persei?

Namely I am confused as to what the Hercules is/does.

What else would I need, when you go to order one they give you so many optional things to add-on, when I click on the link to find out what all of these pieces are and what they are needed for, I get nowhere.

Currently their site is down, or else I would list the other items I am confused about.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

What you will need is a Persei with Hercules, black rod, 4 AW IMR 18350 batteries and 2 AW IMR 18650 batteries.

This will be the last oil vape you will ever buy.

But please remember the Hercules is not for the first timer. It is a complex piece of machine that does what no other vaporizer does, and that is leave behind electronic cigarette technology, no solder, no wires, no silica wicks or glass rods as some like to call it.

The Persei is the most versatile vaporizer known to man. It can act as a heat wand, work with a bubbler, has Oil attachments, herb attachments, Pass through system optional, you can extend it or shorten it.

It simply is the vaporizer to have.

Or you can get a Ophos with the new LAyG carts and still have one of the best ones.

Please remember we make vaporizers for people who will not compensate anything to get the best tasting vapor.

I really don't want to send in my Persei and be vapeless for the next week+ but it looks like I'll have to.

Black Rod didn't do anything. White Rod's back to shitty hits. I am almost done with trouble shooting this all the fucking time.

Thank you so much for your reply. I appreciate that very much.

When I have more time tomorrow I am going to look at the two options you are presenting me and probably have a few more questions.

Thanks again.
