Is anyone using an 18/14 adapter with an 18mm GonG and the PNWT? If so how is the stability? I'm worried about it getting too tall with the GonG, adapter, and WT stacked up.

But...I just ordered the WT and I'm thinking I'd rather use an adapter than getting a 14mm GonG that way I can try the WT with my other vapes (all 18mm) any thoughts??

Setting 7 will not combust your herbs. I have never had this happen or heard of it occurring to someone else.

Some dry-sieve (legal) concentrates can combust, at least on the somewhat older units which seemed to run hotter. I've seen it. Solo is still my favorite portable of all time.

Damn @Pipes does it again...I need two of these in my life, one for the f-BOMB and one for the Pinnacle Water Tool...looks like I need to drop the guy a line :)

I'd also love to hear your thoughts on how the two pieces stack up.

You're getting ahead of me... a little, my PWT is still in the mail system. Taking the long way round. According to tracking it's presently in Vancouver enjoying the sights at customs. Will post side by side and any differences once I get it.
Couldn't pass up on the $50 deal and only $5 shipping to Canada to boot. I know some day I will need a back up tube as I it's not "if" but "when" it breaks.
Please note that I am not taking orders for the stands at this point and are including in AIO orders only pending what I have on hand.
The methodology I use is that I make stuff when I find down falls of products I use and search to find solutions for making life easier. Once @OF and @Dreamerr had their henchmen drag me over to the Solo thread, it has been a very cool experience. No regrets and you folks owe those two for their persistence. Gotta love win/win situations.

As I had said in my earlier post I now have some OEM compatible units up for adoption.
I took a shot of the Solo stands which gives a better idea of the colours and such. The green and orange are quite low key when not lit and still not too intrusive when lit. The black are ...well black. All have a satin finish with no added sprays and should last a life time.
For the curious, the LED is mounted facing the bottom and in fact if one was to peal back the felt bottom they would have a flashlight. Between the felt and LED is a small piece of foil to reflect the light back into the plastic.
P1050859_zps431ba13f.jpg

All are very close in cosmetics with very few blemishes. The finish is no longer glossy smooth but a smooth texture. The colour vary slightly but very close. This is do to mixing variances since counting drops. The dark horizontal streak you see in the glow versions is actually the wire going over to the connector. The new 1.7 mm connectors are the ones that have thicker metal around the outer connector rim.

Here's a couple shots of the rejects and moulds gone south which failed testing in one way or another. Learning curve is pretty much complete now. Always fun getting over that hump of getting stuff off the ground.

That's pretty sweet @Pipes! I look forward to getting an AIO stand. I'm assuming this means I don't need to take PV up on their solo/PV a.c. adapter package deal? Or can you see Good use for it? Maybe they can do the package with one of their PVHE stems?

Thanks. It all about options here.
You can adopt my package and get all the power needs + a base or stay with the OEM product line up.
Researching some of my older posts will give you insight as to the differences. Among others, my PA can be used in the car. Please PM if interested.

If my 18/14 adapter gets here tomorrow I will let you know. Wanted to try this before I get a 14mm GonG since all my glass is 18mm.

Thanks Hexi, great you like the stuff. IMHO, I agree...:D

The AIO has advantages like being able to PA in the car which the OEM PA can not. It uses a single supply for both charging and PA operation. Does this by using a step down voltage regulator to drop the beefed up 12 volt supply to 8 volt.

Here are some posts for your viewing pleasure:

Making the Step Down unit
Adding an addition heatsink
Some technical Stuff
Cradle is born

And only available to FC members via PMs.

And NOW also taking adopters for the OEM 1.7 mm version as many have requested. These are the same as in my signature. Have basic black for $20 or "glow" versions of either green or orange for addition $5 or $25. They have the manufacturers plug size so will work with all their power accessories with NO need for adapters.

Edit:

When purchasing an AIO the stand is 2.1 mm to fit AIO power options and is $5 cheaper plus the shipping savings.

Hope this helps,

Hey, Pipes.

I have no idea how to PM via this website, so, I'll ask you how I can so I can inquire about the 1.7mm stand, which, I'm extremely interested in buying from you. ;)

I ended up ordering the adapter from OGB on ioffer and he responded within 30 minutes of my purchase! (Great guy if anyone needs any glass bits) I'll keep an eye out for your review.

Just opened the care package with 14mm and 18mm pvhe gong stems from PlanetVape.ca arrived just after the package with my new PNWT in it. Could have sworn I ordered a shorty 14mm, but the bowl sizes look the same on both..
Only a week in with the Solo, and already got the fun toys and the red o-ring installed as well!

And talk about great timing for the weekend! Did a few stems into the water tool... seems legit, cools things down nicely, and since there's little volume compared to even a small bubbler, the flavor is still intense! Nice to know whatever small particles that may have made it through the screen is more than likely filtered by the water as well :)

But... now it fits all my other devices as well... Oh, and the water tool is gonna ride on Bender as well in another thread! It's gonna be a busy weekend

Please note: package from The Vapor Blunt is bluntly listed as coming from The Vapor Blunt, so take heed. :uhh: Planetvape is quite a bit more discreet (esp with customs to the US et al) (and was gently padded by a small bag of Doritos, I love you guys at PV!)

I just received my first Solo! It's my first vape, me and my girlfriend were worried about whether or not we would get as high as with joints.

I feel like lucky charms.

This should summarize my feelings about my new vape, and my vaping experience. I never been as high as I am right now, pulling on it gave me a headache though but that might be me being noob with it.

I like 5-6 as my temperature. I tried 4-5-6 so far, I heard 7 could combust my herbs so I didn't tried it.

It's really great, I love it!

Hey Tommy! You lucky charm!!! :D

About that headache... Try putting a screen at the bottom of the SS heating chamber. It should just grasp the sides and slightly dome. It will raise the stem a tiny bit and you will have much better airflow without loosing much heat!

If you need even better airflow, make yourself a vapor lung and enjoy milking bottles and empty them in an instant! :ko:

Welcome to the club!

Alright guys, Ive had my solo for close to 6 months and love it to death. Thing always gets me where I need to be in just one bowl more often than not but Ive got to tell you guys, anyone that doesent have one of these pinnacle WT's is missing out big time. I just got mine today and I cant stop using it. It really compliments the cloud in a remarkable way. Not to mention the construction of the WT is really nice and thick. Im very impressed!!! If you dont have a WT and youve got a solo I really recommend snagging one.

All my GonG's are 18mm.
My water pipes are all 18mm as well.
I will use adapters to try it when it arrives!

If I like it I will order some 1/2" GonGs.

So a pile of $ in 1/2" GonG's!

Hi guys, I'm having a few questions about the Solo usage.

I've been trying different configurations, jam packed bowl, not so jam packed bowl (some room to pass air within it), I've been juggling between 5-6-7. I remember ripping huge clouds in my first usages but now it seems like I have a lot of trouble taking a hit, and I get very little vapour.

My battery is at 2 but I doubt it changes a thing. I use a small screen so the herb doesn't get through, I've been using it maybe for 3 hours since yesterday and it's not that dirty at all so I doubt that's the problem.

Any suggestions for somebody who would like to get big clouds with the Solo?

Thanks a lot for the help!

That doesn't sound right. Are you using the same material as before? Also, I would charge the Solo up and see if it makes any difference. Which stem are you using? Have you tried a different stem?

Try taking that screen out. Sounds like you're talking a dozen bowls or more? Screens can easily klag up in that much time, and if they're fine enough it's almost impossible to see.

If performance has degraded, something has changed. And it's not battery charge. Look for things that have changed..... Good luck.

Li-ion batteries have a fairly flat discharge curve, but it's not so flat that there's no difference between 2 and 7 on your Solo. You need to try charging it before you eliminate the battery level as a cause.

Not a factor in this case. This is a temperature regulated vape, the working temperature is set by the step you select. Lowered battery charge simply means the heater is on more seconds in a minute (or off less if you prefer). Up until the time you go to 100% "duty cycle" (on full time), of course.

Somewhere in that past in this thread I did a series of measurements on this very thing. In round figures loss of a full volt means about an 8% shift in Duty Cycle (say from 37% to 42%, the numbers for one Volt drop on step 7 in my tests). No change in temperature.

Not a factor as long as the heater light eventually cycles off again.

Quick question... I'm looking at cases for this unit. I found the vapecase, and that looks good but I'd really also like too fit a watertool (fbomb or similar). Any ideas? Needs to be low profile (ideally I'd like someone to see it and not want to ask me about it) and keep smell in.

Also anyone see these cases before? I'm afraid they will be cheaply made... but i like the idea.

I got a deep version of the vapecase at amazon so it has two trays and I can fit the fbomb and assorted glass of the bottom tray.

Yea, I was surprised how thick it was too. It's def thicker than the f-bomb. I don't know about how the 2 pieces differ quality wise when it comes to glass, as I'm not versed in that field. Maybe someone could chime in on that. (the box that the PNWT came in said..American made scientific glass and All scientific cuts are fire polished)

The bomb is slightly slimmer and taller than the PNWT..

BU2QkXD.jpg

The difference in the thickness of the mouthpiece rim is even more pronounced (PNWT on top) I kinda like the way the thicker rim on the mouthpiece feels, although the f-bomb's mouthpiece doesn't feel bad or anything, just a minor preference.

YF54qUp.jpg

Here's how the top level of both tools looks close up.. (bomb first)

Bottom levels..(bomb first)

Bomb gets filled to the middle of the M
MMlbBp3.jpg

I like filling the PNWT up to the bottom of the A/top of the C, otherwise the bubble feels too 'weak' as if there's not enough water (is not enough drag the proper term ?) That same amount of water will fill the bomb way up past the bottom of the first B (obviously WAY too much)

uNVaTuW.jpg

So the PNWT def has a lot more water volume capacity. Now you don't have to put as much water in the tool as I do, but as I said before, if I just filled it up till a little past the slits the bubble feels too 'weak' to me.

The Bomb on the other hand, when filled to the middle of the M (which isn't too much higher than the slits/holes at all) has even a deeper bubble (more resistance/drag?) than the PNWT when its at the bottom of the A)

I know it's kind of hard to see the slits on the bottom of the tools, but the ones on the PNWT are a little larger and there's more of them too. The little tube all the way in the center of the tool (don't know what it's called) is a little longer in the bomb.

The pics of the top of the tools show the bomb has 4 horizontal slits (2 at the bottom and 2 towards the top. That piece also comes alot closer to your mouth, than on the PNWT. The PNWT has 3 vertical triangular slits on the bottom, one bigger than the other , 2 horizontal slits directly on top of those and one more on the other side by itself.

Said I wasn't good with the technical stuff like terms, ect... Sorry I couldn't get clearer pictures either. The reflections were annoying & the bomb was a little foggy too. Anyways, both feel great to hit, MUCH better than dry path and you can handle more vapor because it's so smooth. I guess the PNWT has the potential to have more cooling due to a bigger water volume, but one might also argue that you don't need that much water, due to it being vapor and not smoke. BUT, if you do put less water in the PNWT is does have that 'weak' bubble feel.

Anyone that's on the fence about going the water path route and only dry vape, I would jump on that PNWT before that deal runs out !
