My butter hits me instantly, questions..

For years I've read about how eating weed (ie brownies cooked with thc butter) can take 1-2 hours to kick in and gradually get stronger for a few hours.

Last weekend, after spending months researching recipes, I finally made a batch of butter using quite a bit of kief. The butter was clarified first and I used a thermometer to keep the temp controlled at all times. A tiny bit of butter is incredibly intense so it seems I did a good job, but here's my question:

I don't bake the butter or anything. I simply take the tupperware out of my fridge, weigh out 2 grams and put it in my mouth... I sort of let it melt a bit in my mouth before swallowing it with some water. It hits me right away, within a couple minutes. It sorta reminded me how some thc glycerine tinctures work (sublingual).

So is that what's happening here? The butter hits me right away and seems to peak for the first hour or so before gradually starting to fade. Do you have to bake the butter inside something (like brownies) and then eat those in order for it to be absorbed through the stomach?

Sorry for the noob question, I just never expected weed butter to hit almost instantaneously (though I like it)

it could have to do w/ it being melted when it hits your stomach.. if you eat the butter on an empty stomach that will help too.. maybe you have a lot of stomach acid or a fast metabolism haha?? when you eat it about 30 mins after some food, it delays the response IME, and gets slowly stronger over some hours... on an empty stomach it tends to come up faster and wear off more quickly.. but we don't all handle these things exactly the same, so?? hope this helped some

My metabolism may be somewhat fast (I exercise a couple hours daily) but it hits so hard so suddenly that I can't help but think it's being absorbed in my mouth/tissue. Earlier today (my cheat day) I ate an entire medium pizza, like 20 min later I ate 3g of the thc butter and sure enough it hit almost instantly.

Mind you I'm not complaining about this at all. I love being able to have it hit me right when I want, but I'm just curious because for decades I've been told it takes hours to kick in - and this seems to be something everyone agrees on.

I'm no expert when it comes to edibles, but it does sound to me like you could possibly be absorbing some active ingredients sublingually, thereby avoiding the first pass effect of the digestive system. :2c: :peace:

It's nothing magical. As most have already pointed out, since you are consuming a liquid, it is more than likely being more easily absorbed sublingually. Also, if you take it on a fairly empty stomach, it will absorb alot quicker.

After plenty of testing with the butter, it seems the peak is immediate and tapers off from there.. so I'm guessing almost everything is being absorbed in my mouth and almost nothing in my stomach. Strange, but I like it.

Tweek since you seem to know why do some say clarify the butter and some not. I am looking to make some type of candy or caramel and can't figure out which way to make the butter in the MB2. Yes, I am finally ready lol. My garlic butter was off the chain good and it is all gone.
