it still gets me where i want currently but probably won't in a few weeks time. After watching shredheads videos I'm really thinking about getting a sputnik as well.

I do not have an electrical sub yet but when you describe the power conumed by a sub as a factor of fade of life of the heater. Scientifically it could have many other explanations such as power avalaible for the unit from whole installation.

Be carefull to compare the numbers in the same conditions.

The real good question here for me is "does that thing get you where you want as it knows how to?"

Does it make a 400 grams of steel piece at 400°C?

I am not sure if I am following you, but my drop in wattage has nothing to do with the wiring in my home, if that is what you are suggesting? There is a clear issue with wattage dropping in these units...something I would like to see addressed by the company, as this is clearly more than just a random issue.

From my understanding, and keep in mind, I could be understanding this all wrong...I have to pay to send it in, and then to have it shipped back to me. Now, I understand that this is the warranty agreement...but these units seem to be heading downhill pretty quickly, and for more than a few members. If that is the case, the company should eat the costs, as far as I am concerned (at least return shipping). Especially for a high priced device, that many of us have had for a short period of time.

That is the only reason I am considering waiting for the TI version...if I don't, and decide to upgrade, I have to pay round trip shipping twice. No thanks. I'm not made out of money.

Mine's dropped in temp for an update ... but has never gone below a max of 46W. I run mine when I'm using it pretty much 24 hours a day (as I don't sleep much and never know when I'll be sleeping or awake). I run it at around 23-26W as that's my preferred temp for flowers. When I first got it, the max was in the low to mid 50's and now it's in the mid to high 40's but seems to be stable there. I do dabs of reclaim and other concentrates, but probably an average of <1 a day (when I do dabs it's usually at least 3-5 in a day, but don't that often)

It seems there are some units holding stable, and others that start to tank and just keep heading south. If it's rated at say, 40 watts and settles at that point, I am ok with that. It's when it still has a hankering to keep heading south, that I start to worry.

If it drops at 40 or below, how are is one suppose to do a "burn off" to clean the Apollo?

Has anyone seen this elusive moon tool yet? Ti or not.
i've been just torching mine 'til almost red, then letting cool for a good long while, b4 hitting it. SS is safe, just not at those temps. also why i am with tweek in waiting for the TI if she holds out.

at last update i had gotten it to like 43? that same night. the wifey (trying to be nice) turned it off. when i turned it back on it wouldn't go over 32, but still would hit dark brown south of combustion. have left it on full time, full temp since then again. has crept back up to 37 and held stable with the ability to 'almost' combust (if material is dry - end of day)

Question for UFO owners, would a chef's torch work with it or something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Harbor-Freight-Tools-Self-igniting-Micro-torch/dp/B001UIYM28/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1380821297&sr=8-4&keywords=butane torch

Or are the Plumber's torches just so much better and why? I ask because they look a bit big to handle with the large tank and all.

I would not recommend that specific model torch. Those are not safe. Have seen multiple of those turn into full auto flame throwers with two foot flame.

Spend the money on a high quality plumbers torch.

My sublimator is also starting to drop its wattage, its maxing out at 53 watts from 59, not a huge decline but noticeable. Will keep an eye on it

If you remember, mark the date down and see if it drops again and how long it takes. Mine went down about 10 watts in a couple weeks, if I recall correctly.

You won't be dissapointed....I set a timer now for 3min instead of counting in my head. After that heat up I can just lift the heater, dump a load in and hit it. Heat it up again for that same bowl and hit it again. Then I hit another bowl. That usually gets me where I need to be and in only 3-5 min. Not for everyone tho because of all the equipment of need around (pliers, torch + glass equals scary ahha)
