Hi all!

We've been working diligently over here to get every single little kink worked out with the Ascent- both cosmetically and functionally. I inspected a new sample batch this week...and they are flawless. The new processes put in place should assure it continues to be so.

Someone had mentioned the improvements a page or so back, but I'll elaborate here.

Battery- The battery was drawing 6ohms in standby mode therefore depleting the charge. This was due to a PC board malfunction which we suspect was caused by factory workers handling and soldering the boards. We found a new vendor for this and the battery life is remarkably improved. I did a test across 8 units and found they all last for 7-8, 20 min sessions...which included a 1 hour cool down in between cycles. This one was holding us up...but being portable means having battery ...so it seemed worth it.

Silicone- Due to the constant moving temperature target for vaporizers, we thought it wise to invest in our own curing equipment. See- different silicone's are rated for different temps- but you never really know what you're buying. So now everything gets purchased from the vendor, tested, re-cured, and tested again. No room for error there. We've been doing extensive testing in dark rooms with flashlights.

Volume of bowl- So we took your knowledge here guys and are building glass spacers for the Ascent. See..this is why I love it here. My spacer looks like an upside down sombrero hat..so it serves as a puck too and reduces the volume by 50%. The samples are being built for us now.

OF's bowl temp findings- interesting reports! Yes, I imagine the load does cool off between hits, but the actual temp of the ceramic bowl is not changing...that is what the OLED is measuring. No, glass and ceramic are not the best conductors of heat. Personally I'd rather build with a metal bowl, it heats and cools faster, but then you sacrifice flavor. Regarding the jump in temp- the last 20F are programmed to jump at the end via software. I honestly don't remember the reason for this.....

Exchanges- I want to reemphasize that anyone who is not happy with their vape- whether they got it from GV or DV at this point, please contact us. We will exchange the Ascent for a new one, no questions asked. Well...maybe a few questions, but the end result is the same. You guys have been more than patient with us though this whole ordeal and we are trying to do what is right for the community- plus make a cool vape.

Timing is soon, I'll know more in a day but I don't wanna jinx myself here again..like for the last 8 months.

Wish I returned it straight to you instead of GotVape. They screwed me on PayPal. Cost me an extra $7 plus return shipping signature confirmed.

Thank you for the update. You mention your glass spacer, are we getting one with our ascent? Or are we on our own with that one?

A guy offered to sell me a new Pax for $150 on Monday as I read the update from DV. AHHHHHHHH! Choices! Hopefully we'll get some good news from DV before then to keep the tempting vape gremlins at bay. Very glad to hear about the improvements. Can't wait to SEE them. :o

I'd like to give them to everyone. I don't think they will be ready by the time we receive product but if anyone feels that it is necessary, I'll ship one out to you when they arrive. I'll keep you posted when they do.

Well first up I would like to thank all for the advice that i have used from this forum.
As a first timer I would like to say FUCK I'm impressed with Vaping. Been smoking and growing my own since I got my first seed and just burnt it like everyone else. Then heard about Vaping and started looking into it, the best info has been mainly through this site, so at first the Ascent seemed to be the one that was going to to Break Me In.
Oh I hoped it would be so gentle. A first timer like myself, to be taken by the Ascent, to be Vaped for the first time. LOL. But it was to be just a tease as she was not quit ready, so I went for her older and more experienced sister the Da Vinci.
Well first of by the time it arrived I was already well baked.( Breaky at about five in the AM, it pays to start early as it's the most important meal of the day.) So I travelled for half a day to get to the post office just to pick Her up. I got the old girl back to camp at around sun set, first of I loved the fact that I could charge her up and give her a tickle at the same time. So what should I break Us in with? Should I go the modern, with some of my first gen X Purple Auto flowerer or go Old School with my thirty gen Bush Indy Sat X.
Ok enough suspense, I went with my old but trusted Bush Pig, these Girls were raised in the furnace of Western OZ and will bake your brain cells in a toke or two no matter how well travelled you are the average temp in the centre last season 48c, Yes! Mull can grow anywhere, more to the point the plants handled it so much better than I did.
So what I must say is this, first toke I got no smoke but plenty of flavour, couple of tokes later got smoke and lots more taste, mull hasn't tasted this good for ages.......unknown time later.
OK so the older sister is good though a little bit passed her used by date and even though she is teaching me the ropes she must step aside for the next step in evolution the Ascent.
So please Organix take your time. Remember... Good can be achieved straight away, but perfection takes a little bit longer. Miracles by appointment only.
Those who know, know how to wait.

This is the most entertaining/colourful post I have read in a while. :)

Welcome!

Being new to vaping, what temp are you vaping at?

Keep in mind that (people correct me if I have the wrong numbers) but Δ-8-THC boils at about 350°F/175°C. CBDs start a bit lower, but about in that range. Terpenoids (some anyway) start even lower than that. So you can get medicated (depending on what you are after) at temps were you will see little visible vapor.

If you are used to combustion, of course vaporization is going to taste a million times better, as you aren't bringing in all that nasty crap that is a by-product of combustion. I haven't tried the original DV to compare, but a few people have said that the Ascent tastes better still, so you have that to look forward to!

TIL: "Mull"
:)

Yup. Read that a long time ago. Problem is "effect" is necessarily subjective. (Physiology is not a fixed constant.)

On the other hand, volatile molecules will boil at a finite range -- the only variation is NOT in the subject/observer but in relation to the context of the specific molecules present.

Thanks for the update. Were you able to fix the air leaking problems (mainly through the casing and glass stem entries)?? Too much air leakage has been my major concern the other being a heavy usage of material. Looking forward to testing the new version and it is great to see Di Vinci trying to rectify the problems Im sure you will be rewarded for doing the right thing, a lot of companies would`nt bother. Once fixed i would say it is way up there for the classiest and most portable vap around. Thanks

The Solo isn't a pocket vape, but if it'll meet your needs then why wait on and worry about the Ascent? The Solo has already been through it's own growing pains (with pretty much equal :uhoh: and :argh: to this model), and is now a solid and reliable performer, and cheaper as well. If you want to be reassured that the Ascent is solid and making people happy, play the waiting game. If you want to be an early adoptee, then you'll have to deal with the risk that's involved.
I would argue that the Solo NEVER had issues anywhere close to the Ascent disaster.

I still plan on getting an ascent when the QC is better. I love the design and the idea behind it. I did just pick up a pinnacle pro in the meantime. Looks to be a very good vape. Might want to hit up that thread and give it a look.

With the temperature drop after pulling on the ascent wouldn't any bowl like this do that? You are directly pulling the hot air out and it needs to get back to temp. Nothing to really make me worried but I can see how that would kill your herb much faster.
I picked up one of these as well...great little vaporizer.

While you are correct that the Solo never had the "amount" of issues that the Ascent is having, the issues that the Solo did have were deal breakers for many.

So all those solos with chipping ceramic bowls were ready?
The point wasn't that the Solo had all the wrinkles ironed out. The point was that it wasn't announced way ahead of time in any advertising or on any forum. It was announced here on 5/27/11 and you could buy one the same day. There was no hype.

You seem to be taking it personally. That doesn't make for an objective argument (not that there'll be one here). I'd say awful smell and chipping ceramic, along with inconsistent handling of complaints, comes close enough.

Yes, that is what I meant but didn't wish to start an arguement.

I truly hope that everyone gets a solid, reliable Ascent soon. The concept sounds great and I will certainly purchase one when it has proven itself.

Thanks to all the contributors who helped me make my vaporizer choices. This forum kicks ass.
