I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Pretty cool... I'll be watching along !!

Have you considered drilling a hole in the jar and affixing a vac setup to draw oil thru the filters instaed of need to either press or relying on gravity ? <-- just thinking out loud here.

Thanks for all the interest guys, I'll be posting more pics when I disassemble the thing

It does is a pretty tight seal, but not 100% sealed either ; the flow is good

Yes absolutely, but it's more interesting for making vaporizables than edibles to setup a vac. For the moment I am happy with this thing as it is absolutely free, I have no money to invest in this.

instead of vac you could pump from the top instead of vac'ing from the bottom...that'd be much cheaper with a hand pump.

one benefit is you don't have to worry about stuff getting into your vacuum pump

I've been intending to put together a small version of this for some time. I'd like to be small enough to fit into a standard sized oven and the capacity needs to be about 1 cup (as I do batches once I reach 0.5 cup of ABV). Then I'll set the oven to the lowest temp and let gravity do the rest. The first step is finding a suitable bottle, then I'll visit a local glass company to see if they'll do the cut.

Anyway, yes, I'm stalling on this as I now have a double batch amounted. Has anyone else made a smaller one that can fit in an oven?
