Mobius Glass

Hey everyone first time posting on this thread ! I bought a ion bub from a fc member which should be here this Saturday.
I. Am. Stoked.
I've read through the entire thread and I would love to see more videos of people vaping througha mobius , preferably ion matrix but I love to see them all !
This will be my first mobius , hopefully it blows my mind away .
Will be using the Hi , solo, and lsv with it, how do these function sitting on top of that sexy glass?

I don't have any videos, but you are going to love the Matrix Ion. I'm always looking for pieces to upgrade/trade with and whatnot, but haven't even considered it with the Ion. For me, its perfect. Perfect diffusion, perfect can size, perfect sturdy base, etc. ZERO drag and even the milkiest hits don't make me cough. Without question, the absolute best piece I've ever hit.

Aargh, i just hit the wrong button and wiped out four paragraphs of comments, but suffice to say that thanks to all of your candid helpful feedback, i'm now the proud owner of a new Ion with matrix perc. :)

It's beautiful, and even with it's diminutive size, it's much more substantial in my hands than I expected after hours of watching youtube vids and the like.

The version I bought has the smaller scaled down matrix perc (vs the one that used to take up the entire diameter of the bottom of the can) and it's a stunner. The smaller scale seems to showcase all of the tiny tiny cuts and holes that make up this true work of art, and IMHO, really looks impressive and fits perfectly within the smaller geometry of the Ion itself.

I just got home so i haven't had the ability to do more than a water test as yet, but I'll fix that shortly. I just wanted to jump online quickly, and say thank you again for your advice, as always!!

Anyone able to give a comparison of the Zero Drag and Matrix or Stereo Matrix? Is the matrix a lot smoother? Less drag on the Zero? The 65B is my go to right now but I'm getting a little bored. Problem is my throat's accustomed to the smooth vapor now. Hit the reti recently and after a few sessions my throat was getting raw.

I'm having trouble finding that just right level if water in the ion matrix. Where do to guys keep it at
a side view of your water level would be much appreciated so I can have a visual as well

For the ion, I use approx 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the matrix (definitely the lower amount if I'm also using NACE).

I just put some water in, and give it a test pull.
For me;
If it stacks into the neck, it's too much water.
If it only stacks halfway up the can, it's not enough water.
If it stacks right up to the neck, but not into the neck it's Juuuuuuust Right.

What do you guys recommend if im getting something strictly only for oils. I already have a 60t for flowers but wanted a permanent rig and wanted to keep the Mobius fam going.

Which would you prefer between these and why? Thanks for the help

Smallest perc and can size would be optimal IMO. With oil, there really isn't anything worth filtering out, and ideally you'd want the least amount of diffusion to preserve flavor.

Damn thanks, that was quick. Thats what I was kinda guessin too.....smallest can n least diffusion would be best bet. Figured matrix was prolly preferred for flowers, but just wanted your guys take. Guess the Ion Reti is where its at for Oils.

Ive seen a video on youtube w a guy using a Alex K downstem on his Ion Reti. Would you guys recommend that on there? Im kinda new to the glass game, but jus wonderin if all its doin is makin more diffusion and essentially takin away flavor? More drag vs less drag?

I don't think an extra downstem is needed with the ion reti. Especially for oil use. But I'd probably play with one if it was laying around. :brow:

Hey TW, don't take what I say as absolute truth. If you want a piece with a bigger can, go for it! I'm just of the opinion that less diffusion will be better. It also depends on how much water you put in. You can get the smallest piece they offer and still manage to mess with the flavor if you fill it halfway up with water. That's actually what I do when I vape reclaim. Usually the water level in my little rig is high enough to diffuse without going overboard (for flavor) but when I put some reclaim in, I'll add more water to offset the taste. Like I said earlier, it comes down to personal preference. By chance, is there a headshop close enough to you that stocks Möbius? If there is, it would be a good idea to check them out and get a real-world feel for the different sizes.

Some people tend to prefer the smallest size and least diffusion possible for oils.

Crazy idea, consider a möbius tube with whatever perc.
If you don't use the downstem & don't fill the bottom chamber, you'd essentially have a dry chamber to a small Perc'd chamber.

If you're just looking at going for a bubbler, purely for use with oils, maybe check out a möbius water-trap if money is no worry.

Otherwise, my vote would be for an ion, the type of perc doesn't really matter to me, they both offer a very nice amount of diffusion.

Just for clarity though, I've dabbed through my ion matrix, clear matrix, clear reti & 60t, and I liked all of them.
I don't find having a tiny volume all that necessary for dabbing, so I tend to prefer dabbing through my clear matrix.
But I've got a buddy who prefers the ion matrix...

Yeah, personal preference rearing its ugly head again ;)

60t for all my needs! I pull out some old favorites on occasion, but my 60t is definitely my daily driver(as far as glass is concerned anyway)

I have this same bubbler and its official. Also if your afraid of ALTs recent poor quality Mobius products then you should definitely cop this!

Oh, man! I had all but decided to place an order for the Mobius Reti bubbler from ALT, but thought I'd check a few more pages first. And the more I read, the more I see stuff about flawed Mobius pieces coming out of ALT, crooked percs, etc. How concerned should I be here? Is there a consensus as to why these flawed pieces are coming out of ALT? I'm in AZ, so I can't go in-store and make sure what I'm getting is legit.

@kingtut106, your Matrix bubbler is real nice, and considering these aren't currently in stock as far as I can find, I'm surprised yours is still available. The Matrix bub stacks better than any other Mobius piece I've seen. Very tempting. But what draws me to the Reti is the name. Richard Reti was a famous chessplayer who all but invented the 'hypermodern' school of chess, and while I'm not famous, I am an avid chess player and love the connection. I wonder if cIRclE is a chessplayer, too?

Anyway, I now find myself in a quandary!:bang:

At the end of the day you'll be hitting the piece not the name! I say function comes first.

Funny I always thought reti was a play on red eye, shows what us stoners know:science:none the less sweet piece here and IMO matrix>reti

The matrix is sexy and stacks like a champ. Idk if its been resolved but ALT had quite a few stories of the flawed pieces. I had the choice of reti and matrix and I easily rolled wit the matrix. Now, I wouldnt mind a ion reti, but thats just the fiend in me wanting to buy more lol. If your afraid of having to return/ exchange/ deal with ALT CS then go with the Matrix, you wont be disappointed. If you love the reti guy then more power to you, I dont think the reti is a POS by any means lol

Just an example. I didnt stack all the way to the top here, but I have other videos where it goes all the way to the top.

Thanks for the responses, guys!

Turns out Reti is short for reticello (Italian: "glass with a small network"), and describes the criss-cross pattern cut into the perc. Not an uncommon technique for glass-blowers.
Still like the name, though, even if the origin is different.

And I agree, @ogcook, function comes first, but I figured that both Matrix & Reti function great for vapor, and from what I can tell the only difference is more in the aesthetic stacking (perhaps better diffusion?) of the Matrix. If I were to add a cloud buddy, would the Reti or Matrix stack better? And doesn't either piece provide plenty of diffusion/moisturization anyway for what a vaporist needs?

Skip to just past the 1 min mark to see how it stack wit the Cloudbuddy. I also have a video with the Cloud and Cloudbuddy but it was before I knew how to edit videos so its basically raw footage.

Thanks, @Live-N-Learn
That "VapeXhale Cloud + Mobius Matrix" video was really helpful for comparison against the the mobius w/cloud buddy. Seems to stack better w/o it. But did you have something added to your water, it looked pinkish, and I wonder if that might have helped the bubbles stack. It almost looks soapy!
