Poor quality sleep after an evening session

Just had a sleep with almost no Vaping last night. I had one bowl around 430 and another at like 7. Both UD bowls with only about .05 of herb. Had a better sleep, but a little more tossing and turning. Felt pretty good this morning tho, less groggy then if I vaped till 9pm.

Like lwien said herb effects REM sleep.

Get more exercise - like intense stuff. Try getting in a weight lifting regime or sport you enjoy. I am passionate about grappling and jiu jitsu. After working out several hours you are left soaked in sweat and your muscles are sore. Your body and mind has been engaged and is working hard, as a result it wants some refuel and R&R.

You have no choice but to chill, eat a big meal and pass out.

Legit exercise is pretty much the best way to combat anxiety/depression. An anxious mind is one of the primary barriers to a sound nights sleep. This is an epidemic in this country due to stressed and sedentary 9-5'rs... who tend to have a shitty diet. We live in some difficult times now, it is important to treat your body right and listen. Your body and mind want good food, solid exercise, peace and rest.

Don't forget about meditation, it can help curtail background anxiety and help to facilitate healthy sleeping patterns. Eat plenty of healthy fats, good protein and greens. Cut the caffeine and sugar if you eat these things. You will be sleeping like a baby in no time.

Oh I'd also like to mention - herb in moderation. Lots of people partake in a bit of herb in the evening to unwind. Habitual use is no bueno and most people experience a lot of the more negative effects. Absent mindedness, lethargy, depersonalization etc.

TOTALLY agree. I have been clinically diagnosed with severe depression a few times in my life and during those times, I've admitted myself into a few psych wards for fear of suicide. Was in the VA mental hospital for 3 months one time when it really got bad.

I've taken all kinds of psychotropic meds to combat it. Lithium, prozac, etc etc...........but there's is one thing that has always kept that depression at bay, and that is exercise. I currently run 20 miles a week. As long as I do that, I do not need to take any meds at all, and I am totally depression free.......and, at around 11:00pm, like clockwork, my eyes begin to fade and I fall asleep within 5 minutes of my head hitting the pillow. Haven't had a bout of depression now for over 10 years. Without a shadow of a doubt, if something happened where I couldn't run..........I'd be in trouble.

That depression thing is obviously a chemical imbalance going on. I vividly remember how it felt when it came on. I could definitely feel the chemical imbalance beginning to happen before the depression really hit. It's just so obvious. But when I'm running, it is also just so obvious that it is keeping those chemicals in balance. Of that, I have no doubt. And I also have no doubt that it is that running that helps to put me to sleep at night..................like clockwork.

I've heard it said that exercise is THE wonder drug, and considering all of the physical and mental health benefits that it provides, it is a very accurate description. It definitely has and is working for me. Sweat by exercise, by far, is the absolute best drug on the planet. Unfortunately, you just can't just go to your local dispensary or drug store and buy it. You gotta work for it to get it.

No luck so far...

I haven't noticed any improvement in sleep quality from increasing water intake while vaping, after vaping or during the night. On a no-vaping day, I drank about half the amount of water I normally drink and was a little dehydrated when I went to sleep, but I slept well regardless.

I also tried low-temp vaping, and only vaping until the flowers were light-golden instead of my usual milk-chocolate color. Sleep quality was about the same as what I get from the darker roast. I'll probably try it again, though.

Tried getting extra sleep in the morning, but it just doesn't want to happen. It's as though my brain knows it just got 8-9 hours of sleep and it's done. It doesn't care if I'm tired.

I thought I might have gotten a slight improvement when I had a late-night snack (mostly junk, but it was tasty), so I'm going to try some non-junk and see what happens. I finally got some honey and OJ to try, looking forward to it.

I also tried tyrosine, 2g about an hour before bed, right after I finished vaping for the night. It didn't seem to improve sleep quality, but I was more alert and functioned a little better the next day. No substitute for good sleep, though.

Still working on the exercise angle, stretching, meditation. I've looked into substances that disinhibit rem, as well as cb1 antagonists, but I haven't found anything I'm yet willing to try.

Steele Concept and lwien: I definitely agree about exercise. Fortunately, I have no regular problems with sleep when I haven't vaped, but I'm looking forward to finding out how being more active will affect sleep quality on the nights I have vaped.

Sloth- I think at the end of the day if you puff a good amount before going to bed you are going to wake a little groggy. There are many variables at hand... Strain, have you exercised, food+water, mental state, sleep debt etc. Remember cannabis inhibits the REM sleep!

When you get a good workout you engage those endogenous cannabinoids and opiate receptors in addition to all other sorts of physical and mental benefits. Perhaps it will curtail your intake at night a bit? If you speak with a lot of healthy people who workout a good deal they don't need a whole lot of substance to get where they want.

Maybe try a T-break. There are natural things like chamomile tea, valerian root etc. that can help you sleep.

Ultimately there are a shitload of variables at hand but if the easiest way to sleep better is to exercise hard in the day, do that and stop analyzing. Get to it. :2c:

Slothington: Do you have a girlfriend/ wife? You could be approaching this from a different angle.

I completely forgot about this! Give your wifey/gal a few different angles after your PM workout regimen and shower and you will be passed out.

I think a lot of the problem in modern society is that corporations, advertising etc. have tried to convince us that we are not animals. Sure we have good brains, frontal lobes and all that but deep down our primal urges still exist. Our bodies and souls want to be active, eating healthy and crave to fuck and fight. When we sit around all day listening to bullshit from our bosses plugging away at some system... deep down we wanna smash it all. We weren't made to have repeated stressors thrown at us as our bodies react the same way internally when we are stressing over TPS reports compared to a predator in the wild.

Lol, my apologies for the anti-intellectual rant. I get sketched out sometimes by different supplements and people thinking too hard about problems that may be simpler to solve then we make em out to be. Go smash things and mate.

Been doing a strict no herb 2 hours before bed. Actually more like 2 and a half by the time I'm settled. I am noticing an amazing difference. Is unreal. I'm dreaming and waking up totally alert. I've found my morning vape sesh is more of a wake up then before. Before I would vape and feel awake but tired at the same time. This is a straight 180 degree turn around for me. I have a ton more energy during the day. FC wins again.

My experience has been the exact opposite of this threads title. I'm going to start a thread "poor quality of sleep without weed". It's weird how cannabis affects everyone differently. My experience has been that weed helps enormously with insomnia. After a good late night vape session I sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed and ready to start my day.

I will be waiting for this thread. Very much applies to me.

That's why you have a good session 2 hours before bed so you still get sleepy but your not blitzed when you go bed, that's what makes you groggy.

I used to feel the same but I think it just caught up with me, started to lose energy from to many late vape sessions.

With a strong Indica, I usually medicate about 1 hour before I want to go to bed. Sometimes I medicate lightly, but sometimes i medicate to the point I'm...blitzed!!! Either way I sleep very well and wake up refreshed. Unlike some, I never experience a hangover effect from weed even when medicating heavily with concentrates LOL...

thc doesn't make you sleep, it makes you energetic. Alcohol puts you to sleep but thc in this sense is an upper, calming you down put NOT making you sleepy.

That hasn't been my experience. In fact, my primary reason for medicating is pain relief, relaxation and insomnia, and weed works perfectly for those conditions IMO..

Are you typically medicating with Indica or Sativa dominant strains? I can't imagine a heavy Indica making you energetic LOL...

For myself, alcohol can be more of a stimulant than coffee. It can be very hard for me to sleep after drinking. Alcohol is weird that way, it can act as both a stimulant and a depressant.

i just think there's a fine difference between relaxing (weed) and making you sleepy (alcohol, especially beer with hops). Cannabis doesn't make you so sleepy that you are unable to open your lids like alcohol does.
It seems though that everybody has different experiences.

I vaped about 10 grams of velvet overlord, did an hour of qi-gong, and tried the honey thing.... Slept like a rock.
10g at one sitting? Sunds impressive.

I wonder how much I go thru? Hmm, up @8. Turn it off @midnight. Add breaks, minus meals, carry the 2, divide by .5g, ....Drokk it.........I have absolutely no idea how much herb I go thru in a regular day.

USA Eastern. You can tell from my post times I have bouts of sleeplessness. In my case no amount of THC seems to matter, in fact w.sativa I end up playing Skyrim all nite. Ole girl claims pure indicas sack her out every time.

I dk, with me I just need to exhaust my bod. I like running around in the woods and paddling, but to each their own. Workout routines make angels cry.

More than anything I read a few good tips

I am just going to say it, first person thrillers/killers probably are not the key to peaceful sleep. Seriously, you are right though, trying to keep track of the cannabis I use would be near impossible. By paddling do you mean you kayak, because that is awesome. Also I do have to add, Bruce Lee had an impeccable workout routine which helped him become one of the greatest martial artists in modern history. Fun fact: Some skeptics attribute Bruce Lee's death to having an allergic reaction to hash he had ingested. Also, I am curious how people obtain cannabis on the east coast, I have a friend who says it is over four hundred an ounce, how much do you pay? Do those prices attribute to your sleep loss? I wouldn't be able to sleep if my sativa cost $10 a bowl either.

Dude, I love going to bed high. I will actually take a big hit right before going to bed. People think I'm crazy/wasting weed but I love the dreams I get and I always wake refreshed.

Bruce Lee, International Baddass. 3" punch is ninja-master maneuver. Death by Hash reaction, not so much. And yeah, I'm lucky enough to live on a nice class2 creek and have accumulated a half dozen plastic boats, mostly kayaks. I enjoy outfitting small groups of friends.

Livin Large.

East coast OG Kush and the like was $400 to $450/oz last I checked on 420.com but there's always these sites also.

Me Too! It's not wasting weed at all IMO... I love the feeling of vaping myself into a nice relaxed dreamy state. My head just melts into my pillow and I drift off to a great nights sleep.

I used the word "Skeptics," I never could believe cannabis being fatal to anyone. Interesting that cannabis and incredible talent come hand in hand. Good link brother. Also I am astonished people are able to pay such high rates on the east coast for herb. How much does someone get for $20? Minimum wage is to low and cost of living is to high. Is there a guarantee on quality at those prices? I wish I could vape out all of you east coasters till yalls hearts content.
