Thanks cluffy! I am definitely sold on the standard HC and wand if I get the SSV. And getting ever so close to making that fateful decision to throw down the cash and buy! :D

BTW, just curious: what makes you recommend the SSV (with standard or SGG) over the LSV?

If you are on the wall at all... go SSV.
SSV owners are a very happy lot.
There are precautions as you already mentioned with the LSV... there are with every vape.
However....
The SSV is a solid... rugged... no bullshit.... sit solid... never get turned off, work horse.

Why:
Never turn it off...
diffuse aroma...
set wand down with herb still there for later(easy to curl and place down- transfer wand must be leaned against something or on something so it wont roll.. it is glass!)

Look friend.. I could give you a dozen reasons to go LSV also.... I love both... but...
IF
if you are undecided, or on the wall between those two choices.... SSV is your best bet! :2c:

I just think you'll find the SSV more comfortable. It stays put while you handle the whip/wand. With the LSV you have two pieces to handle and one of them is the heat source, when all you need to handle with the SSV is the wand/whip so it's easier to stir/reload. At least that's how it looks to me but I haven't tried an LSV.

Not to mention you can buy the LSV heater cover and wand for the SSV, then you have both in one!

Another vote for the SSV. Not enough good words to say about this machine. I have been using it daily since I got it and it has never let me down. I mostly vapor bong with my zob/alex k and a spherical ground glass heater cover and wand but sometimes I like to switch it up and put the standard cover on and use my standard wand. I really need to look into getting one of the miniwands for conservation. I have reeeeeaaaally been debating getting a wooden unit for a while now though. Meh, now I am rambling. SSV, for sure.

Oh and yes they do look beautiful next to Macs. Especially the black base/silver bodies. :brow:

You won't be disappointed with the SSV. I've had mine for about a month and LOVE it!! The information on this site convinced me it was a vape that would fit my needs. Pull the trigger, you won't regret it.

I did it--placed my order!! :D Now comes the waiting...

I'll report back after (or during :brow: ) my first test drive.

Thanks everyone for all your advice and testimonials, which were invaluable in helping me take the plunge (and great pic, Cerpintaxtt: I'm getting the same Mac-like color scheme!)

Hey all,
I finally registered with the site but I have been around a few month lurking reading all of your post :p I started vaping about 6 months ago, and have never looked back. I love vaping!!!!! When I started I picked up a easy vape off amazon to try it out, week later picked up the iolite. I love the iolite when I'm on the go but not for all the time.

Well for a while now I have been trying to get my girl to let me get the ssv. Well the weed gods have shine down on me this weekend, when she tripped over my easy vape and now the temp is all messed up. My girl has given me the go to get a new vape :D:brow::D:brow:

So I've gone over the the 7th floor people and starting at $269 i can get my very own SSV. My question is for those who have already got their is it worth going through 7th floor or should i just go to amazon and save money?

Looking for any tips on ordering through any site that is worth my time.

OHHH one more things currently I have a ground glass vape, but I feel that when I"m not pulling I"m just lettting my stuff burn away. Are all ground glass this same way? I was thinking of going with the standard verison because of this reason.

Thanks!!

You can get the same SSV at many places.
The place must be a recognized distributer of 7th Floor LLC to have warranty.. but warranty is rarely an issue.
What may be an issue is the quality and/or perfect condition of bag/wand/whip/stir tool/etc..
one way or another you will be happy that is for sure.
It never hurts to establish a rapport with the manufacturer.. or at least a couple of his authorized distributers, early on in the game. :2c:

Edit;
Yay....standard!

What Vito said plus: A lot of the SSV's out there are ground glass, I wonder why that is seeing how it's $20 extra on the 7th floor site. And you get a free T-shirt from 7th Floor!!!
Standard wand/HC FTW!!!! IMO!!!

Oh my god. I just compared VB mini standard & SSV standard (regular size). The VB is amazing. I didn't expect such a difference in the hit, I was just expect a smaller amount and bowl. I should note I'm using the VB hose and attachments. This hose isn't as flexible as 7th Floor's.

SSV should start making mini wands too - they make every other size and variation. They would fit the 7th Floor tubing. Speaking of which, I wonder if I should try their larger sizes..

I want to give credit where credit is due. This is the first mention of the VB mini that I can find as it pertains to the SSV and I'm sure it's where I learned of it, I did a lot of research here before I bought my DBV. Thanks smoking Joe !!!!

BTW, I used the VB Bros mini whip hose until it got dirty, then went to the 7th floor hose. 7th Floor hose was easier to clean for me. I also did a mod to my mini wand: please excuse the nastiness, I did the mod before I cleaned the wand, then tried it real quick before I took the pic, left the load in and all!!!

I ordered direct from 7th Floor and so far, so good! I ordered on Sunday night and received my UPS tracking number this afternoon. Their site is easy to use for the most part, and I ordered a silver/black SSV, extra hose, two packs of extra screens, the "old" (i.e. cheaper!) oil diffuser, all for under $300. I think that's a good enough deal and I just always like ordering direct from the manufacturer whenever I can.

Must be the noobs. When I was one not to long ago and was looking in to vaporizers and came accross the term "handsfree" I immediately assumed it was the best more luxury version. I mean, who'd want to hold the silly thing themselves when there's one that hold itself! Right?

Something like that, I assume :)

FlyingHigh congrats on your SSV, you'll love it. Nice touch with the "old" oil diffuser. Now you'll never have an excuse to turn it off  !

My oil diffuser must be a dinosaur. I have one of the black metal ones with the clear bowl on top.

I love how durable the units are. Mine took a lot of beatings over the years and never had a problem at all. It even scratched a few hardwood floors from high impacts due to excited dogs and cords.

Oh yes, I forgot about that mod! I like it.

My VB hose is stained, but I use it for my VB as well so I'm used to this hosing already. It's a good year old with more to come. I like the compact VB mouthpiece, and large opening to inhale. They both fit the SSV hose but not well.

Though I'd like to try that mod, maybe I'll order spare mini wand(s) and do it!

These pulls are for you, Joe and Cluffy

Hey guys! I've been lurking Fuckcombustion for quite some time. I've learned so much about vaporization and related subjects during my hours spent reading this forum, and I must admit you guys have made me fairly paranoid about toxic contaminants in my vapor. That's pretty much what my first post is about.

I've owned my Silver Surfer for a good while now. It's my favorite of any model I've tried, and it's been through a lot. Traveled far and wide and gotten a lot of vapor newbs very very lifted. When I had my heater cover break for the first time, I had to remove the metal cylinder connecting the heater cover to the base. Ever sense then it has never been on quite as tight and once in a blue moon it comes completely lose, forcing me to shut off the unit. Whenever this happens I push it back in and tighten it by twisting clockwise, being careful not to mess with the ceramic. What I find alarming is that sometimes whenever I power on the unit for the first time after doing this, it emits a little smoke. :uhoh: When this happens I leave the unit on at full blast for like 15 minutes, much like you would when you first get it to burn off manufacturing oils. I smell the heating element and there isn't really an alarming aroma. After that I turn the unit down to the highest temperature I would reasonably use in a vaporization session and hit a wand with no screen or tubing or herb to taste test. I consider myself to have a pretty sensitive palette, and I don't detect a toxic taste, but I'm no stonemonkey.

Now, some dumb friends have blown plant matter into the heating element in the past, so I like to think it might be just be some old plant matter or residue burning off, but that doesn't really make sense cause it all looks pretty clean. You guys have any ideas? I'm really hoping for reassurances rather than recommendations for contacting 7th floor, as I'm probably going to have to sell my Herbalaire (which I really like) for money reasons, and it's the only other desktop vape I currently own. Being without one would be kinda devastating for me :/

Last time all this happened I recorded the first time turning it on, and captured this phenomenon. The video quality is extremely poor, I recorded it with my macbook air in photo booth (lol mirror image). The smoke was more prominent in person, but it wasn't like torrents of the stuff. Just keep your eyes around the heater cover and you should see what I'm talking about though. (full screen should help)http://www.flickr.com/photos/69438833@N03/6313201234/

I'm glad to have finally joined! :peace:

Thanks dirtpie! I can't wait! And one of the selling points of this unit to my wife was the oil diffuser, lol! Made convincing her that this latest purchase (after pipes, a bong, the MFLB, a bubbler...) was justified.

My SSV is scheduled for delivery on Monday, but my work schedule will prevent me from setting it up until the following weekend. My lungs are really looking forward to it. The MFLB is great in a pinch but a glass pipe is my daily driver right now, and the Ehle comes out for weekends. Smoking is fun but it's time to get healthy!

Caesar: welcome to the forum! I'm new here too and loving it! Hopefully you'll get an answer to your issue soon.

Ceaser; I couldn't see any smoke in your video, but next time it happens try turning of, let it cool down and pull of the heater cover and shake is upside down (the SSV, not the heater cover). I suspect some ABV will come out like you already stated as a possibility yourself. If not you can always look for other causes, but I'd try this first if I were you.
I've had it happen a few times where you couldn't see anything just looking in there with a flashlight, while still a reasonable amount of AVB came out after taking the heater cover off.

I ordered my Silver Surfer very early on Thursday am (2am or so), by 11am on Thursday morning I already had a tracking number. Today (sat) it arrived!!!! Got it straight from 7th floor, and I must say that the picture don't do this justice at all!!

I got a Zen color with black base, came with a red bag and red shirt to match! My glass button is a rainbow swirl and is just so pretty. The wand and cover are a yellow and blue combo!

FlyingHigh: I think you're wife will have a lot of fun with the oil diffuser; getting to try all sorts of scent combos. I enjoy doing that with my girlfriend. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want the oil diffuser. I like having a nice smelling house! Make sure to pair up your SSV with those previous purchases. If you don't want to get the adapter you can make a slit in the end of the tubing so you can make the diamater of the tube small enough to fit into a 14mm joint, or it should fit in pretty fine to an 18mm joint.

Aromatherapy using the SSV is a very important part of my daily routine.

I sit 1st thing and create scents.
On Sundays, here in my community, I have visitors come to learn about Vaporizing as every other day.. only on Sunday we discuss aroma and how it can help with sp[ecific health issues like nausea.. and of course... aromatherapy lifts the spirits!

Eucalyptus, Lemon, and a touch of Spearmint is a favorite of mine to assist with lifting the spirits! You have a super nice aromatherapy set up Vitolo! Good for you sharing vaproizer knowledge along with aromatherapy on a regular basis. The aroma top was a big part of why I loved my SSV. It will be an aspect that I'll miss while using the Volcano or VXC.
