Gear "Oil Slick" products REVIEWED

I think the point may be no scraping.
But if the product is made out of silicon i wouldnt blast into it. That round plate would be nice for the vac purge but I can't find any info on width or material or anything. These guys should include more info on their website

No scraping? Well, how does one magically get the oil off of the Pyrex and into this nogoo tray without scraping it off the pyrex?

I will buy these if you can safely blast directly into them without the butane leeching the silicone into your product. Otherwise, I honestly don't see the point in a giant tray with no lid?

yeah, like... dimensions would be nice.

Blast your buds into a bit of 99.9% iso or at least everclear and pour it right into the silicone after the butane evaporates. That'll allow for easy transfer.

It does say 8" plate on the site, though I do recognize that those are not actually dimensions.

Yeah I actually just looked at the website again and it has dimensions now and it also says it is made of food grade silicon. They also have a bad ass tool on there now that I didn't see yesterday (I was on my phone so maybe all this info was there and I just didn't see it yesterday). It's funny, I'm in the middle of a BHO run right now and i was just thinking to myself how awesome it would be to have a tool with silicon coated tips and there it is.

I used to blast right on an oil slick and loved it until a friend took a razor blade to it and ruined it. Don't scrape this thing. Get it into a nice little patty and continue purging it.

just recently got some of these products, and so far I am loving them. I use the small pad as a catch all for my dab tools and now I am not wasting so much oil, I can smear little bits on the pad and collect them. I am also wiping the end of my Sublimator downstem across the pad to collect oils that would normally get smeared on the glass when putting it back. Loving the stackers too.

Anyone know if they discontinued the slick sheet? I can't find it for sale anywhere online and they don't have it in their list of products on the website.

I would assume they did then.

In other news I just got 3 slick stacks and I'm loving them.

Perfect size imo and I like the way they feel and how they open and close.

I'm probably going to get whichever product it is that people are blasting into soon.

Ive read a lot about the oil slick pad and the nogoo dish. can either of them be used to evaporate iso?
What about compatibility with everclear?

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

They both work great for iso,(and don't see why everclear would be much different), I have both the oil slick pad and the no goo deep dish, and both work great for evaporating. I prefer the pad over the dish for the ease of collecting, and due to the size of my runs(not large enough for the deep dish as of yet)

how well do the slick stacks stay closed in a pocket? just ordered 3 off amazon for under $20, ill use them to travel around with my wax. a friend gave me 1 nogoo container and I like it, i've just heard a lot of good things about the oil slick brand and wanna try these out

Edit: Also since people are talking about purging in their containers, i'll add that i've used my nogoo jar to do several 1-2 hour long heat purges at around 120F. worked fine every time and will use again for that if needed.

sweeeet, do you think you could measure one and tell me the diameter? looked all over online for measurements and couldnt find any. i understand it's a tad bigger than the nogoo container, but idk how much.

the nogoo's are about 1 inch. thx for measuring! the slick stacks seem like they'll be perfect. a few pages back someone quoted from a website that they will hold around 5g, how much can you fit in yours?

I thought the nogoos were bigger but I may be wrong ... 1.7 inch diameter on the slick stacks.

The slick stacks are a little wider, but the nogoos go deeper. I definitely can hold 4-5 max in the nogoo compared to about 2-3 max in the slick stacks. Also nogoo has an even bigger wider stacker now, but its 9.99 for one

I was just a a bed bath store and kohls and noticed they sell silicone "baking" sheets. They look exactly the same as oil slick pad and feel the same as well. They had almost a similar price. I wonder if they can be used the same way. Its said all the good stuff on the package such as FDA and 450 degrees.

Posted by the owner of oil slick on another forum site:

Well the batphone is ringing, so in an effort to start off on the right foot over here I figured i should make an account so that i can address any questions about the pads.

also, i should disclaim that i do not sell the pads directly, just manufacture. smokeyfish does a bunch of stuff for lots of MMJ outlets and i asked him to carry our products. get in touch with him or the online store if you are interested.

SILPATS. yep that IS where we got the idea. not the demarle models excactly, but i have a culinary background and had tried using a silpat for handling oil in the past.

they are thin, they break down, the borders fray, and they curl up if you use a hotpad to purge on. a week of use and you have bits of silicone in your oil. not good to smoke.

so for the past year we have been making fiber impregnated silicone to order. the material we use for the oil slicks are about twice as thick and contain 3 times the fiber core. the technology is closer to the material used in commercial bacon frying conveyors, than the material used for a baking sheet.

the cost of our material is also double the cost of thinner looser weave silicone, but i believe we are no more expensive than any alternatives you could conceive of.
and the green and Oil Slick thing dont cost a penny more.

The slick slab is 24 x 36 iirc that's pretty darn close but if you want the extra foot and a half try contacting them through their website and see what they say ... couldn't hurt
