Not many it appears. I'm anxious to see the revised version. Mine works great but looks like hell with all the black chrome chipping, the panels coming loose and the film on the oled. But it's a beast when it comes to functionality!!!

I have the Burl & the fit and trim are pretty much flawless on mine. Still have the mar inside the OLED when it is off, but not visible at all when on...guess they all have that blemish.

I never gave it a thought to return it just for that one problem...hits like a champ and has great taste.

Yes, it is a hog, but I guess I will get some organic cotton or try some other solution in the near future. The Ascent is not my daily driver...that honor I believe will always go to some incarnation of the Cloud:tup:, but this will be a nice portable to take with me here and there...:)

You will NOT be disappointed in any way...best Vape out there in my opinion and many, many other's.
Ahhhhhhh! I so wish I could afford one. I'm hoping that once the ev0s start flowing ill be able to grab one of the OGs on the cheap in the classifieds!

I'm not sure how many will sell their original Cloud's. I have one of the early tickers...and that beast is staying in my house even if it eventually croaks...I'm just too proud to own it to ever part with it.:)

Back to the Ascent...I hope Davinci themselves come out with some nice solutions to vape smaller loads with...I believe they are working on this...

She said they were working on a crucible type weight-spacer thing. But she also said shed be reviewing all the pages of the thread she missed and answering all of her pm's over the weekend and it says she hasn't been on the site since! Lol so who the hell knows! Glad mine functions properly!

Ok i might have been the first to get the Ascent in Australia on the pre order list but it wont stop me from applying for a refund. Generally it came to me undamaged but although i have not used it a LOt in the two or three weeks i have had it i have not been over impressed with the "clouds" considering the vapor to be far to "airy". Even though i am not a "cloud chaser" as such, i believe in high vapor to air mixtures compared to the opposite. I also believe that good vapor to air mixtures are medically more potent then the other way round. I went to great effort to get one of the oil jars drilled with two holes aligning them to two of the four bottom air intake holes.
This SHOULD have not only needed a smaller amount of material but SHOULD have reduced the air intake thus producing better vapor WRONG!!
As commented in earlier posts i believe the major problem with the Ascents and mine in particular, is they suck TOO MUCH AIR. It doesnt matter what i do air is always going to get sucked from within the shell body and hinge into the already sloppy telescopic glass stems. Combine the already huge four air holes at the bottom and you will always get poor vapor to air ratios. This is unacceptable to me
I like the style and stealth and concept but DiVinci need to rectify ALL air leaks, reduce the bowl size (although if air prob`s were sorted then my oil jar adaption may work better with smaller loads) and maybe reduce the size of bottom four COLD air intakes. I dont think there will be a way to get hot air going into the material (as with CERA or SOLO to name a few) but by reducing the air to vapor ratio might help a LOT.

The above quote is the reason why I expected to be able to participate before distributors. The way I read it was that FC pre-registers would be first, then pre-sales from GV. Am I crazy??? Anyhow I have been very patient. I went as far as purchasing a Yelp coupon directly for DV and I am still left waiting. I am not complaining, but I have invested money myself and still have had no opportunity to purchase this vape.

Don't complain. Consider yourself lucky....

Seriously, read the thread. You lucked out big time. Find another vape or wait 6 months when they have the bugs worked out.

So an odd thing happened to me yesterday. I have been on the pre-registration list for about half a month now but have been checking the DV website regularly. yesterday morning (9:30 EST=5:30 DV time) i made an attempt to buy a Croc skin ascent and AMAZINGLY it went though! They took the money out of my account and had the order pending. T thought that this was really weird since i know they aren't going to be releasing any batches until the end of the month so i called a few minutes ago.
As it turns out, i was extremely lucky as there was a glitch yesterday morning (may happen again as he said) that allowed for a few people (he said 5 but i bet it was more) to place orders for the ascent without regards to where you are on the pre-reg list. He said he was going to call me to refund my money but just before he did i told him and that I would rather that they hold on to it as i wouldn't mind waiting. He was elated that i was okay with this and said that I would be receiving one of the first of the "improved" versions when it is available at the end of the month. I can also confirm that they are NOT working on any firmware upgrades. he was very vague as to what they are working on but he said it was a "significant improvement". he did not elaborate on the gas leak issues but said, "that has all been addressed". sounds like there moving along with this improved batch!

Glad as hell to be part of the other 20%!
I'm with you VaPed...I wonder how many actually got good units like ours?

I'm pretty sure that 80% number is arbitrarily fabricated.

Keep in mind a few things: Not everyone posts (lurkers and also and there were some non-FC people that hopped on when the ordering details were released), and users with negative feedback are more likely to post. Those factors skews the appearance of the number of bad units.

She said they were working on a crucible type weight-spacer thing.

I'm looking forward to a reducer of some fashion. I tried cotton briefly, but just settled on layering stuff for the time being. Haven't gone glass-bead shopping. :)

We're still looking to what happened in the back end of the site...but suspect my outsourced designer made some changes to our inventory level- which is zero.

The crucible/spacer has been fun to build so far- right now it looks kind of like a piece of the oval internal glass...but side down, cut off from the stem and heavier. I'm not sure if that makes sense at all.....

Is anything being done about the chipping on the black chrome? What other changes are being made to further the ascent?

So with all the upgrades being done can the ones who kept theirs exchange for the new inproved?

I wouldn't want anyone to have buyers remorse that they didn't wait and get the new, upgraded version available immediately after release....so yes of course you can. We realize that the majority of the units have imperfections and we want you to elated with your new shiny toy.

Feeling the need of a disclaimer here- so no the above does not apply if you wait 6 months after the new ones are available.

This is a health related post, but also a post regarding expectations and common sense. (apologizes, if it's close to a rant)

How about the plastic between the silicone ends that hold the stem?

Selective answering at its finest from DV.

Instead of an all glass pathway, how about an all non-plastic pathway. Or an all glass and silicone pathway (just 2 materials). If the stem is pulled up, will the vapor not touch the plastic?

Damn, just so we all know what DV said previously, the silicone that was sourced was NOT good. It was a bad product. So the silicone they sourced allowed off-gassing. NO ascent out there has a properly cured unit. DV also said they will re-source the food-grade silicone (rated up to 700 degrees). note: that they said was different from the OG DV and the Ascent (but who's really counting at this point).

If the unit was suppose to have proper silicone in the beginning, why was it not implemented and caught earlier by DV or Oraganix or whoever actually works there. Does the source not give you a sample beforehand?

I wouldn't put it past the source to send good samples and then use subpar materials to save pennies.

I agree with you. People have to eat. Maybe I should not have put that question at the end.

However, getting stock of a box/crate/barrel full of off-gassing silicone stock should be strong and should not have made it to production.

Of course we cannot ask the source. We are told what we are told. Those sub-par materials were an unknown unknown.

Here's some info I got from Shauntel at DV about the improvements that are forthcoming with the updated units (I double checked before disclosing the contents of a private e-mail :)):

- the silicone sleeve that encases the stems from top and bottom was going to originally extend the full path, but could cause breakage issues so that was changed to have one on top and bottom (by design)
- the manufacturer used cages with holes that were nixed in the design, but the manufacturer used them anyways to save money. This will not be a problem moving forward (this is why one could see the wires apparently if I'm understanding the e-mail from DV correctly).
- they have purchased machines to cure silicone in house to avoid the moving quality target
- fixed the LED screens
- fixed the phantom battery drain
- put in a more stable PC board

My unit has the visible wires issue ... the way I'm working around that right now, is I've put a single wrap of silicone plumbers tape around the inner glass tube and that creates a seal between the 2 glass tubes so when I put my finger over the bottom of the glass screen when it's open I can't get any airflow through the unit. Without the silicone tape a ton of air gets through making the unit less effective and also somewhat concerning as far as the air path. DV is taking care of me like everyone else and will replace my unit as soon as they have them available and ready.

Edit: Worth noting that I initially put a couple wraps of silicone tape around the inner tube, and the outer glass tube went on fine, but was too snug and it broke trying to separate them ... I haven't had this issue at all with a single wrap ... still moves nice and smooth and comes off but also creates a seal
