These guys are real good friends of my #1 Goon and I've watched one of them grow up. I try to promote them as much as possible; not only because they are friends, but also because they are damn talented. They sort of remind me of a cross between David Byrne and a lot of other artists; depending on the song. This is their new single that was performed at their album drop in March. If anyone ever sees that they are playing (in the New York/Brooklyn area) GO!!! You wont regret it. ;)

Back to Phantasmagoria. This album has been an on-and-off obsession of mine since I first bought it on cassette tape in 1985 or 86. An early goth influence - not as early as Bauhaus, etc of course, but I like how they injected some pop/punk energy into the style. The purists not too happy with The Damned for straying too far from punk rock - really far. I love how they stretched out in this direction. Probably much more respected now than it was in the mid-80s. Nobody I knew gave a shit. So... back listening to it after a few years away.

Reaching for something thats just out of reach
Lost to your lips and drowned in your kiss
The tide of your passion is now but a dream
It's but a dream

Sometimes the words appear in my head
Sometimes I'm falling out of my bed
...
Then suddenly
Like a fly in a cup of tea
I'm stirred and no longer free
To fly away
I think back to the other life
That was borrowed the other night

Grimly Fiendish + Edward the Bear
(I know the first is a repeat but this is the best ver of Edward I could find)

Somehow I found myself here today.
Awakened to these thoughts and feelings,
Or an oceanic sense of lucid dreaming?

A strange sort of spherical sensation,
With an overwhelming sense of apprehension.
An emptiness that thunders out
From beyond the mind’s horizon.

So far beyond our reach,
Where consciousness coalesces
Like the billowing loom of thunder clouds.
The streaming runs of thought go
‘Round and ’round and ’round.

Till the dancing funnels of wind touch down.
And the earth bows down in reverence,
Lest it should be torn to pieces
And blown into oblivi-essence.

And all who live will run and hide
And do what we’ve done since the dawn of time.
Everyone flees from the cyclone winds of
One’s own mind.

But if one day we should stand on the canyon’s edge,
Peer out through the beating rain, the pounding wind
You’ll find that everyone is everyone
And everything is everything.

(Verse One)

Open up
Your hearts and minds.
‘Cause I remember
Nothing.

One day now
It all falls down.
But love must keep on
Loving.

So start the show,
Here we go.

(Chorus)

Dark to light,
The day from night.
A roll of a mountain,
A rip in the sky.

Turning the dust to flesh
And ashes to breath.
A pull of a muscle,
A pin the eye.

An initial spark
To get this heart of mine pumping.
And another
To get these feet of mine running.

But sadly they’ve just taken me
To a place
Where all is devoid
Of your embrace.

So baby now we’re falling
Baby now you’re falling
Baby yeah, yeah
Baby now we’re falling, baby yeah.

Tripping and tumbling,
Flipping and fumbling.
Flowing on the rivers of sadness
That have been forever rumbling.

But from dawn until now
Of all the paths that I could have gone down
Of all the valleys
That I could have been flowing through.

In spite of all the chaos
And all that has come between us,
How is it I still find myself
Here with you.

(Outro)

So somehow we find ourselves here today,
A feeling in this oceanic sense of lucid dreaming.

A strange sort of spherical sensation,
An emptiness that thunders out
From beyond the mind’s horizon.

And all of us, we run and hide,
Do what we’ve done since the dawn of time.

Peering out through the beating rain,
The pounding wind,
Everyone is everyone
And everything is everything.

It's been a Spiritual Beggars and Corrosion of Conformity sort of night

Amott's solos are as delicious as always in this one... and it helps that nearly every 'Beggars song is about getting stoned lol seriously tho, play these guys on Pandora and get ready to be served up some of the best variety of chill, doomy stoner rock/metal tunes out there.

This concert has their 2nd vocalist, but it's still an awesome show, great show to vape a really sticky goo-tipped solo stem to methinks ;)

i got to see him do the Wall last year here in the states. was ah-mazing! i def. recommend any perception raising enhancements to go along with the experience. me and my friend both had lost our mothers (he, both of his parents) in the last year or so. both of us and our partners were balling all throughout roger doing mother in a duet w/ himself from the 1980 coverage of his performance. held hands and cried the entire time. so cathartic.

seren, i recommend you DON'T watch this as to keep the experience fresh, but if you've already seen footage of the show, go ahead. this was that performance

also was lucky enough to see him play at the Gorge in George for the In The Flesh Tour. it's a spectacular open arena on the Columbia River's Gorge (think small grand canyon w/ a river in it). i was running to the show as the opening notes start and right as i crested the hill... an ACTUAL small vintage plane buzzes the top of the field of onlookers, directly over my head and we were off. all my friends were on 'x' and too much beer and 'missed' most of the show. that shit is burned into my brain. so good.

here is a full live version of that show (not from the gorge :()

and to kick it up a bit...

Thanks for the tip ;) and for sharing your experience, so sorry to hear of your loss.

I've refrained from watching any of the concert so far, so thanks for the warning! Just a couple of days to go now til the real thing - whoop, whoop!! :)

The gig at the Gorge sounds absolutely amazing, wish I'd been there, I can only imagine how awesome the atmosphere must have been in such a beautiful and majestic setting. If I could turn back the clock I'd also love to see Floyd at Pompeii!

I know Floyd and Waters are not everyone's cup of tea, so here's some celtic fusion from the Peatbog Faeries:

:peace: :)
