Oh yeah, it might not sound appealing, but it is the best dish to have after a Sub session, tons of calories, but is it ever good mmmm.
Cheese Curds are a Quebec specialty. A lot of places advertise poutine, but they don't use real cheese curds, just not the same, need the real Quebec Cheese Curds.

Poutini's on Queen West make a very respectable poutine considering its in Ontario(they use real curds): http://www.poutini.com/

Anthony Bourdain made a cameo there in his Layover show.

Has anyone tried using the Sublimator atomizer with a VHW or heat gun? I'm curious how that mix compares to the standard sub heating element.

Well, it appears I have a small tragedy on my hands. First I should say that I've had the apollo for about 5 weeks now (didn't seem that long) and since the first day I tried it I have enjoyed it and wanted to use nothing else, even dabbing lost a bit of luster. Just to reiterate, I love my new toy.

Long story short, there was an accident and the apollo was dropped on the carpet while very hot. It was removed from the carpet, but carpet fibers were melted to the apollo in the area where it sits on the atomizer.

I ran the apollo on max for several hours which burned off most of the carpet fibers, but there is a visible residue that doesn't come off with heat. Now when the apollo is on, there is a smell like a furnace vent in the middle of winter. I am concerned about inhaling toxic vapors from the melted carpet residue.

Does anyone here have any suggestions on another way to clean the apollo?

@grokit thanks for the quick reply, that sounds like a great idea. Any other opinions on this, anyone?

Is there any reason not to try the torch? At this point, I'd be willing to try just about anything but I don't want to make it worse than it already is.

I would love to hear from Enrico on this, if you're there!

If you have a flathead screwdriver available, you could probably scrape it off if you let the unit cool down and then turn it back on, right away trying to scrape the residue off. You could also try rubbing it with steel wool.

Hey everyone, Sublimator is trying to become more active online in order to be more responsive to your needs and requests. We have updated the Facebook page and will continue to do so https://www.facebook.com/sublimatorbeyondvaporization

We have also created a Twitter for those that prefer that method of communication @SublimatorVapor

In answer to your question, I will get back to you ASAP once I touch base with Enrico.

Thanks!

@CentiZen I really like the steel wool idea, it's got me itching to go get some. And that's not just a poison ivy pun, either. (I won the battle, but arms and legs were the casualties, so to speak. Hind sight suggests long sleeve shirt and pants rather than shorts. Wow, that's a tangent.)

Baked, not fried. It's kinda a shame, I've been reduced to combusting. My solo just aggravates my throat to no end, it's freaking painful to use. Even through the same tube I use for the Sub. Combusting on my 18" straight tube is as close as I can get to the sub, for the time being. Definitely noticing less effect from similar if not larger packs.

I think I read earlier in this thread that the apollo is brass, do I recall that correctly? If it is, I've been reading about "natural" methods to clean brass. One that seemed potentially promising was using a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda. That, combined with steel wool, or with just a rag, sounds worth considering.

@grokit you said it best. I'm trying to hold out for the head cheese. Patience is a struggle where the sub is concerned.

On a side note, has anyone ever tried using sublimate with a cartridge based vape for oil? Like an omicron or persei, or other?

Alright, Enrico has been reached and here is the final answer to the carpet residue issue and future cleaning issues:

First, he apologizes for your poor carpet :ugh: Next, he recommends once you have run the Apollo through the self-cleaning feature, rub the affected areas using an old pair or jeans/non-flammable material or as you have all suggested the steel wool method would also be appropriate. However, please keep in mind it is going to be HOT! USE OVEN MITTS or Suitable gloves to prevent yourself from being seriously burned or injured.

The Apollo should never touch liquid, therefore; the lemon juice and baking soda method should not be used in this case. Also, The Apollo is actually made from Surgical Steel and not Brass. Future models will be made using titanium.

Hope this helps!

Man yesterday I had the same thing happrn to me. I had the Apollo in my hand and was checking my atomizer to see if the bowl was done and left the apollo touching the carpet. Fortunately it was only for a second or two but carpet fibers stuck onto the side of the apollo. I took a piece of napkin and wiped it off as it was still burning and managed to save it from having the carpet completely sticking to the steel. You gotta be extremely careful when you are high and using this.

I've given up trying to wedge my screen at the top ... apart from it being a little more of a pain to tap out the ABV ... seems to work the same apart from that. (And a hell of a lot easier to let it just fall to the bottom!)

And I prefer the stock stainless screens over the other ones I've tried ... I find I get longer before they get clogged and they feel smoother to me than the PV Ultra Fine ones. Just my 2 cents.

I went on a little screen dalliance recently, I ordered a couple of arizer v-tower basket-style screens for my ssv and I was cleaning the sub screen so I gave one a spin in the sub. It dropped right in and stayed, and it worked fine but I would hate to get it to stuck in there, because they aren't cheap and it was hard to get out with out damaging it after using it just a few times.

I also prefer the stock ss grills but it seems that there are many good alternatives to it.

Grokit, I don't have a sublimator, but do use those screens, I find they are easy to remove when warm as resin around the edges hasn't hardened ;)

So does anybody have an idea of what screen would fit perfectly on the bottom near the atomizer? I definitely dont like how the stock sub screens moves around. Causes me to wonder how Enrico is getting the reclaim ABV free.

I use a medium Solo screen. Works perfect. Much better airflow than stock screen and you don't have to clean it every second day.

My stock grill fits great now, very easy to wedge into position and remove, and it never comes out when dumping the bowl. The sub's not picky about screens but its users are!
