Went into my LHS today and saw an LSV marked down from 299 to 269. It had been sitting in the same spot since the day I first walked into this head shop about 3 years ago. Told the owner it was waaaay cheaper online and he said he'd match an online price. Walked over to his computer and saw it was going for 189.99. He said he'd do it so I got it and bought a bowl for my bong for it too. So far I really couldn't be happier. My friend gave me an LSV vapor tamer a looong time ago that he used to use with his bong. Completely forgot I had it till I got home and it clicked. I absolutely love this thing.

Nice score, what colour did you get? :)

Silver. Only one they had. What would be the best way to go about vaporizing a full melt wax with the LSV? Just put a little on top of some bud?

How hot does the lsv get? I plan on picking one up soon and would love to entertain the idea of a custom wooden body. Does this seem feasible?

I would think so, the glass around the endcap is cool to the touch when it's just sitting there. The only time it even gets warm is when your pulling air through it.
Ensuring the same level of ventilation would be advised though, especially around the middle where there is the most heat.

On a warm day 30 degrees c if I leave it on at vapeing temps it can not be picked up after 30 minutes
That's why I have started tinkering with stands

So?, You uh? Put your balls on it when it's not scalding hot?!? I always wondered why some of my buddies thought it was a sex toy! Especially when the wand gets attached and the anal probe comments come flying out...

Interesting, maybe some units run hotter than others or dissipate heat differently, the case on mine never really gets past warm.

When I keep mine on my marble top it never overheats at normal operating temps but after just a few minutes on my wooden bar it gets very warm indeed!

Further to my suggestion of using a standard glass joint as an adapter I realised that after a water pipe is made they are "baked" in a kiln so I'm starting to think that a glass joint may be a little weaker than a finished wand. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated as I've never blown glass so I don't know to what degree "baking" toughens it.

I did however find 4 inch male adapters on ebay, but as I've said before I'm in the UK so I can't test it out.

It looks very similar to Vitolo's super-shorty that he uses so assume it will work as a wand and at $10 inc shipping it's far cheaper than the official wands.

This is one of the coolest things I've ever bought haha. I can't stop looking at it and wanting to use it...

If I have my LSV on 12 it doesn't get smoking hot as opposed to if I leave it on 1 or 1:30-2ish. I always have it in the bag it came with so that may make it get hotter. Sometimes if I have it on around 1-2 it gets TOO hot to handle for most people but I just deal with it. Sometimes I can't even use it for a full session on that heat unless I'm constantly holding it or have a fan on. Theres other variables as well. I usually just put it on full power for a couple mins then turn it down to 1 or 2 and then it gets too hot to hold within 10-20 mins, it all depends.

It's not a great idea for everyone but if you remove the outer metal cover it runs a lot cooler, the cover seems to conduct a fair amount of the heat straight back into the base.

And how would that work without being burned?

I only mean the cover over the glass grasp the base, as I said it's not ideal and it wont work for everyone but you should notice a heat reduction in the handle.

It's a shame you cant get a custom cover with a strip of non heat conductive material separating the two pieces, although it would ruin the aesthetics a bit.

So in my last order from the 7th Floor LSV shop they sent out a standard wand than the shorty I ordered, bit of a blow as I don't use the standard because I find it a little too long and unweildly.

The bright side is they are sending out a replacement as I type this, so it's all good. :)

Also a Large Microphone Shock-Mount plus a Microphone Suspension Arm makes for an awesome mount for an LSV.

Its fantastic for wand and whips, still playing around with it at this stage but for the $30au for the lot I paid, I'm quite happy.

Damn I have been unlucky with my LSV! Arrived yesterday, discovered both element and HC were completely bent, so much so it was impossible to connect the WPA without removing the entire aluminium housing.
Thankfully my local vape supplier (LVS;)) is a very accommodating dude so was issued a replacement within 6 hours of receiving the broken one.
Unfortunately the replacement was also faulty, experienced the same thing LoveHemp was talking about, won't form more than whispy clouds even at max temperature. I'm suspicious air might be leaking from the GG join between LSV and WPA, going to investigate later with another one.
Spent a few frustrating hours doing weird screen mods, packing larger and smaller bowls and regulating draw speed in the hope of figuring it out to no avail.
Contacted supplier, replacement coming this evening, 3 LSV's in 24 hours must be a record of some sort..
Thank goodness I have my SSV to keep me sane!:brow:
